What do we do with the 12th player?
Is it any official rule about it?

in my league we handle it that way that one random player has to leave the pitch

there isn't an official rule, like juergen I've always removed a random player

I know some places let the other coach pick which player to remove, doing this will soon end up with the other coach learning to count to 11

It also prevents intentional accidents Wink

It's always funny when neither pplayer realises until the end of a half...

Random player's the way to go - although I have also let my opponent pick a player to take off when he's transgressed and I've not spotted it before the kick-off.

Coffin - its the other way around, the opponent chooses which of the 12 to take off, not the transgressing coach Smile

I think it depends on the level of play, and how well you know the opposing coach. Against a good friend, I'm more inclined to say "whoops, you screwed up", and would probably let them pull off a player. In tournament play, perhaps offer a choice between forfeiting a re-roll and choosing the sent-off player, or have the opponent choose? Better to just do it right the first time!

Funny, I'm almost always the other way around. In tournaments I'm far more forgiving than in league games Smile

I'd argue an illegal procedure call here... but that's just me.

What is there are only ten (when eleven or more were available)? The miscounting coach is out of luck?

pretty much, you don't set up enough players that's your own fault and the rules don't allow for setting up another player during a drive

Replay the entire league or tournament. Just to be sure. Wink

I once played a whole game with ten players, because I am an idiot. Almost tied, though!

I do treat it like illegal procedure. Something along the lines of lining up 3 players in one wide zone. The offending coach looses a re role and has to correct the mistake his choice. That I think is the only fair way to handle it.

In my league which I am just starting I am going to be much less forgiving. Here is my tentative house rule:

The 12th (or 13th, 14th, etc) Man
If one player has set up more than 11 players the opposing coach may point this out to the referee. Once informed, the referee will eject players (i.e. who were already on the pitch and moving them to the Dungeon area where the secret weapons and fouling players go) at random until there are only 11 players from the offending team left on the field.

The penalized coach may use a bribe to attempt to cancel out this penalty. If the bribe is successful the player will be returned to the reserve box. Otherwise, the offending player(s) will be ejected from the match.

A coach may inform the referee after both teams have set up for a kick off, but before the kickoff result is rolled, before their turn begins, or after their turn has ended. This rule will also be used if a team sets up more than 2 players in a wide zone. Offending players are removed at random from the pitch until only 2 are remaining.

Goblin teams are expected to attempt this kind of stuff - they can consult Rule 512C under setion 38 of our charter... lol
