Very nice option!
And there are elves too from the same store.

I wonder if they are 28mm...

Having seen these in the flesh (a friend that runs our local gaming group was sent some freebies by mantic) They are 28mmish, maybe slightly smaller. Well detailed, but the skeletons and some elves look difficult for conversion purposes due to weapons being difficult to remove.

I'm making an Undead team, and I use these figures as my zombies. I also ordered a skeleton regiment (I only need 2 skeletons for my undead, but it was cheap, and I want to teach my girlfriend how to paint Very Happy) and a revenant command (to make wights).

The other figures are 2 original BB ghouls as ghouls, and a blister of Tomb Guards as Mummies.

So, as I said, the ghouls are ideal as zombies (And they have weapons usable for the wights' talons), but there are some problems with the skeletons/revenants. First of all, nearly all of them are holding a shield in their left hand (except 2/box, which 2 torsoes are exactly the same in the skeletons, and revenants box). So, for the skeletons, I used these two torsoes, but had to reposition their arms/hands, because they were very unnatural (Probably for holding a spear or something, and the other one was a banner carrier). For the wights I used torsoes with shields, had the left arm cut off with the shield, then glued the left hands of the unshielded torsoes to them. First problem with this solution is that I couldn't use the very nice revenant-armoured bodies, because they all had their shields molded together with their armor, so I used a simple skeleton torso, and added the additional chestplates includedin the box. Then I added some left arms (they were selectble on these torsoes) with the hand talons included in the ghouls kit, so I think they make great wights.

So, the consequences:
1. I bought these kits, because I would like to have some more realistic figures. They are, so +
2. Ghouls are excellent zombies. +
3. You get only 2 models with left arms in all the skeletons/revenants box. -
4. You can't use the beautiful revenant bodies for your wights. -
5. The revents box is about 60% the same as skeleton -
6. The more conversions you make on skeletons and revenants make them more fragile (and they have ver-very thin arms, legs, etc.) -
7. But they are looking great. +++ Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy

Hope I could help Very Happy

Smile
The poses of the zombies seem very good!
It looks like they're actually attacking someone instead of just "moaning around" like most zombie sculpts.

I like your colours too, dark green+gold work very well, congrats!

What are you going to base them with?
Perhaps brown earth with some flock here 'd there(painted like its dry, yellowish/brown) would look cool.

Cheers
A.

Somewhere I read about cigarette ash is great for basing (with PVA glue), I'll try it.

Thanks, I was thinking on the colours fo days, and finally I decided dark green would be the best for my tem, because they are called the Ravenwood Rotters, and green is the colour of rot Very Happy. The gold is actually Vallejo's Bright Bronze, and I use it on my position players (mummies and wights), the others - if they have armour - are painted with gunmetal metal with some sepia and red wash to achieve the rusted look seen on the skeletons. The skeletons are also givena layer of sepia wash to show the dirt and age on them, but I left the position players pure white, as they are expensive, so they are cleaned daily Very Happy

Regards,
d

Still on this topic...
I've ended up getting a box of those Mantic zombies and another of ghouls.
The sculpts are quite good, with lots of detail, and the proportions of the minis are really nice.
Having said that (and unlike some GW's bulky hands/feet/heads ...) they are quite slim, fitting the size of the body perfectly.

Cheers,
A.

@drcsernus: How about those pics of the based models? Did you end up using ash?
