I actually like the milk crate effect it looks like the stadium is on HUGE spires
it does look way cool, any pics of the actual board and sideline (looking from the other side? |

Congrats on the job, it looks fantastic!
The players even have their training facilities right outside the stadium with all the weight lifting stuff and all!
Now seriously, thats a great job you've done there!
Wouldnt mind to see a few more pics from the inside and other angles.

Thanks. I plan on eventually taking more pics when the project is completely finished. "The Porject" being custom made (or converted) contents of everything you would need to play or find in the boxed set. Hence the Human team you see in the photo. I store bought it because I liked the minis well enough but I am currently converting an Orc team because I wasn't too impressed with the ones for sale.
I don't know when I'll get around to it but I'll make sure I post some updates when I get them.

My question is about the outside of the stadium. Are they from Hirst or did sculpt or make them yourself? Beautifully well done, looks like a rich Human team or perhaps even a High Elf stadium!!

Thank you!
The vast majority of the stadium was carved from 1/2" rigid insulation board (pink foam). I then spread a thin layer of wood putty on the outside with my bare finger to achieve the proper texture before I painted it. |

That's very interesting!
I was assuming those were plastic bought from some company.
It would be very usefull if you could do a simple tutorial with a couple of pics, showing us how its done.

I can't promise this will happen any time soon as my personal time for doing these projects is rather limited. However, the next time I get into a project that requires some modelling I will try to post progress pics and give explainations to demostrate these techniques.

That would be nice!
I'm not thinking about building nothing any time soon, but having knowledge on different techniques on how to build "terrain" is allways very usefull.
Over the years I have done lots of different terrain pieces from those insulation boards.
Mountains, rocks, statues and other kinds of terrain (for WFB, Necromunda, and other game systems), and either I paint right over the insulation (watch out for this as some sprays and some glues melt insulation boards) or I give a "coat" of wood (white) glue to add texture, other plastic elements or wahtever I see fit.
I've never used wood puty so its new to me.
Does it "glue" it self to the surface you apply it on, or do you have to mix it with anything?
Does it have texture of some kind?

Wood putty is used for filling nail holes and minor imperfections in wood working before you paint so that you can get a nice clean finish. I don't know about Portugal, but in the States you can buy it at any hardware store. It has about the same consistency as spakel but I find it a little easier to work with because it sets up faster.
Honestly though, if I had to do it over again I wouldn't have used it. I would have mixed sand into the latex paint I used to base coat the board. I've seen this done and it gives a nice textured surface to the foam and the latex doesn't eat it so you're essentially base coating and texturing at the same time. |

I do know a wood putty for "filling" use (sold in packs like soap bars), but its quite hard with to work with so I wasnt picturing it for the effects you used it for, but then again I dont work with wood professionaly so I'm probably missing stuff (but I'll check that out anyway next time I get to the hardware store).
The "latex" solution you've mentioned sounds a lot like how I do when I use wood (white) glue.
