Great Plains Grand Prix Tournament Series 2020

The Great Plains Grand Prix Tournament Series is intended to promote greater participation in Blood Bowl tournaments across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Montana by creating an additional contest based on scoring of those events. In other words, we're using shiny prizes to entice coaches to travel to more tournaments than they otherwise might.

The GPGP is sanctioned and sponsored by the NAF. Any disputes or clarifications will be handled by the NAF Tournament Director (barring the creation of a dedicated Tournament Series Director).

Tournament Series Organizer: Lair Ashmead Innerdemon 18998 Alberta Regional NAF Representative
Tournament Series type: Open

2020 Rules
-Any tournament taking place in the following states or provinces may choose to be included in the GPGP

-The GPGP will run from January 1st to December 31st.

-Tournament Organizers should apply to be a part of the GPGP at the same time that they apply for NAF sanction. Some exceptions may apply as we continue to make organizers aware of the series' existence. Tournaments may apply to be part of the GPGP, but require a minimum of 10 coaches to properly qualify for the GPGP.

-Tournament results (a list of final placement) must be provided to the TSO within 14 days of the tournament's conclusion. Results that are not submitted within that window may be waived. Please include: Coach Name, NAF id, Race, Place, Award (If any).

Scoring
Coaches will receive points for each tournament they take part in. The points will be determined by 1) overall placement, and 2) how many coaches participated in the event. The tiered point system will be as follows:
• Tournaments with 10-12 coaches will receive a maximum of 8 points for 1st place on down to 1 point for 8th place, on a declining scale. In other words, a 1st-place finish would be worth 8 points, a 2nd-place finish would be worth 7 points, on down to a 8th- place finish being worth 1 point.
• Tournaments with 14-16 coaches will receive a maximum of 9 points for 1st place on down to 1 point for 9th place.
• Tournaments with 18-20 coaches will receive a maximum of 10 points for 1st place on down to 1 point for 10th place.
• Tournaments with 22-30 coaches will receive a maximum of 11 points for 1st place on down to 1 point for 11th place.
• Tournaments with 32-40 coaches will receive a maximum of 12 points for 1st place on down to 1 point for 12th place.
• Tournaments with 42-50 coaches will receive a maximum of 13 points for 1st place on down to 1 point for 13th place.
• Tournaments with 52-60 coaches will receive a maximum of 14 points for 1st place on down to 1 point for 14th place.
• Tournaments with fewer than 10 participants will not be included
• Only the top 5 tournament points for a participant will count towards the GPGP. This is a new change intended to help out those participants who are active but can’t go to each tournament due to life constraints. (Examples: Borak goes to 7 tournaments and gets 5, 15, 12, 11, 2, 11, 8 at them. We take the top 5 (15, 12, 11, 11, Cool and combine them for his score of 57. Ramtut goes to 4 tournaments and gets 15, 14, 10, 12. His total will be 51.
If Ramtut goes to one more tournament, that will be added to his score. Borak can go to more tournaments to try and do better than his lowest (Cool and replace that number or he can decide to goof off and play a fun roster and a low result won't hurt his overall score.)
• +1 point per day of the tournament. Given to all participants.
• Organizer bonus: +1 point per 10 coaches in the tournament (only for organizers who do not play in their own event. Organizers also get the participating bonus above.)
-There is no minimum number of tournaments that a participating coach must attend.

-A coach must use at least two different races to qualify for an award and points will only be accumulated for multiple tournaments once a second race is played. (Example: Borak plays Nurgle in his first tournament and receives 8 points. Borak plays in two more tournaments with Nurgle and achieves 6 and 4 points, but still only has a total of 8 points for the GPGP. Borak then plays Khorne and receives 10 points. Because Borak has played at least two different races, he now receives all accumulated points and now has a total of 28.)

-In order to receive points, coaches must be NAF members prior to participating in a tournament. In other words, they cannot sign up in December and receive retroactive points for all the tournaments they attended throughout the preceding year.

-In addition to the main table, a separate table will be maintained for points accrued with Stunty teams. Points will be awarded in the same way, but only those tournaments played with Stunty teams will count. Top 5 finishes still apply, but a participant can have 5 tournament scores for the Main award and 5 scores for the Stunty award.

-A participant can not win both a Main award and a Stunty award, the coach will need to choose which award they prefer.

-For the purpose of this series, Stunty teams will be defined as Goblins, Halflings and Ogres per BB2016, as well as Lizardmen limited to 0-16 Skinks and 0-1 Kroxigor, and Underworld limited to 0-12 Goblins and 0-1 Troll. Organizers can still set their own standards for their individual tournaments' Stunty Cup (for example: Ogre teams limited to 0-3 ogres, "all skeletons" as an added list), but only the rosters above will generate tournament points toward the Stunty award.

-Tiebreakers will be Most First Place Finishes, followed by Most Second Place Finishes, and so on. If scores are still tied somehow, the prize will go to the coach who used the most different team types during the series. If there is still a tie, random determination (coin toss or die roll) will be used.

Prizes

Prizes for 1st-3rd place and the Stunty winner will be provided by the NAF.

GPGP award dice will be provided by the NAF – Gold for 1st, Silver for 2nd, Bronze for 3rd and Teal for Stunty.

Commemorative GPGP patches can be purchased for $10 for GPGP participants. We are offering a package

Sticker, Patch and 2d6 for $20.

I thought Golden Sausage was making a permanent move to summer? Might want to double check with Apothecary on that one.
