last year we had the first official NAF Swedish Championship at Lincon.
I'd like to repeat the event again this year.
Would there be sufficient interest to hold a tournament? We had about twenty last year.

The tourney would be run at the Lincon convention...one of the "Big 4" games cons over here. That would put it on the *checks* 20th May (I think, as it usually runs on ascension weekend)...and if I remember right thats horribly close to the Blood Bowl (two weeks after I think). Bear in mind I have no control over that date, and I REALLY don't have the time to organise anything from the ground up atm, so Lincon - which went really well last year - seems a good place to hold it. (aslo helps attract people who may not want to travel just for a BB tournament or who can travel with friends)
The good news would be that it should be dirt cheap to come over...Ryanair fly to a town thats no distance at all away...the bad news is that you'd have to sign up for the whole con...which is fine if you're swedish and play a few other games (especially Magic), but a bit much otherwise.tobias - Dec 16, 2003 - 08:12 AM Post subject:

i'll be there. however i can't offer any help that would stop me from being able to participate as
1. i spend that energy on local tournaments
2. i need to focus to improve my results (finished 18 out of 20... or something like that i think )

But you won the right matches, and are the 2:nd ranked coach in Sweden !
I got to the semi-finals, and I´m the last ranked coach in Sweden !

Well, nice to hear that last years tournament was appriciated.
I have no possibility to attend this year though, sadly. My grandfather turns 90 on the friday (21st) in another part of the country and my presence is needed there. So I can't organize or participate this year.
Maybe we could reschedule it for Sydcon in august instead?

Last year we had twenty. I said I wanted at least that many this year, but expected around the same. Also, I can't make it down until the afternoon of the thursday at the earliest, so hopefully the tourney will be friday-saturday.

If you keep hearing nothing from the LinCon folks over the next few weeks, Thadrin, I'd be all for a reschedule to the Goth or SydCon. This is because I hold a deep grudge against the LinCon organisers and wouldn't be able to participate if the Swedish Open was held there as a matter of principle...

If Thadrin reschedule to Sydcon I could arrange it. I could help people with transports too. I have a car and a computer so that won't be a problem.
Maybe the folks that arranged the tournament last year at Sydcon want to do it again? But proper tournament rules this time.
There still is a slight possibility for me to attend Lincon. If the tournament is hold saturday and sunday that is.

Update: I'm in the process of writing up the rules for the Licon tournament at the moment, and I understand that they will be released, along with bookings and so on, within the next couple of weeks.
