Painting - Distinguishing feature

Well, anyone going to the BB tourny will instantly be able to recongnise me. It won't be the ginger hair or the NAF staff top, it'll be the huge friction blister on my left thumb from a weekend painting sesh - trying to open those absolute ba$tard paint pots had already given me one blister, then some hard skin, but now it's given a blister on top of another one!

Evil or Very Mad

so if I win this trophy I can honestly say I've went through pain and blood to do it....

I bet I am not the only one with this problem either Rolling Eyes

The new paint pots suck. The easiest and quickest way to open them is by submerging them in hot water for about 20 seconds. The air inside will expand and the lid will open without any sweat Smile

Martijn (I know what you went through. I finished painting my team an hour before I went to the Golden Deamons. You're not alone! Wink)

cool tip about the paint pots, it'll save a lot of "burn-eze" in the coming week!

apparently they had the new paints pots at Pandemonium although I didn't see them. They are the same pots but have a flip lid from what I hear.

ah, thats you with this " awful" orc cheerleader , too? Shocked Wink
Great mini... saw it at TBB forum, too. I´m just ordering some old orcs from MOUS to convert a "own" Orcteam. There are so many minis i have to paint, but i´m thinking, to concentrate at a own orc team now.

Hm, but there is a big list of things i want to do...:
- converted orcteam...
- fixed gamefield with homebuild pits... have to play more, to use later all the invitations to UK, Germany and Utrecht for playing Very Happy
- Golden demon BB diaorama, second try... yes, i will win sometimes Wink
- Golden Demon Orc diorama...
- paint more "historic "BB minis for my web archive

There were two "statiums" at the last german GD. One was a wooden gamefield, very well done. The second was my diorama of a BB stand with orcs and dwarf spectators and the deathroller rolling over a orc Rolling Eyes

I just called the german MO and i was told , GD 2003 should be 24th of August... but the troll wasnt very sure about this Rolling Eyes

BTW... after using GW color the last 15 years i changed to vallejo colors, too.

Yeah, that's my Cheer-Orc - didn't you recognize the Ogre then? Razz

Anyway...
Utrecht? You're going to Ducosim in March then?
I'll be painting a Duel Scene for Golden Deamon this year: a Goblin Referee trying to send off a fouling Troll Mr. Green
And maybe a squad of cheerleaders for the Regiment Category, if I have any time left!

You will not swap over the border and visit the german GD, will you ? Shocked Chances to win are lower than... Wink
Nope, no prob, as i will try other categories. But, hm, whats with this damm sword ? Wink

If you do a whole cheerleader squat like the single one.... argh ! Shocked

Erm... Ducosim is some sort of annual gathering of Games Workshop-players (or so I heard at least) held every year in March at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht (the big building near central station), I don't really know much about it but I heard they were having a small BB tournament this year so perhaps I'll enter - I'll look it up!
BTW - swapping over the border is easy when you live in Nijmegen - that's about 20 km from Kernwasser Wunderland Rolling Eyes
Isn't the Big Prize on the German Golden Demon a Bratwurst or something? Wink

Yeah that's it!
I'd go for the Lederhosen probably! Very Happy

Maybe I can convert a Golden Deamon into a Nurgle Deamon Prince Rolling Eyes
But I'd rather go for that juicy Golden Bratwurst! Wink
(Especially with Sauerkraut und Reibekuchen!!!)

do you have to pay to enter the GD? and how much is the UK GD usually?
I've always been tempted to go, but been put off by the fact I don't think there will be much to do...

Erm let's see, it costs about 100 euros including the coach ticket and ferry across the Channel, but the actual entrance fee to GD will be around 10-20 euros I guess?
Anyways, if you only want to go to Games Day for BloodBowl it might not be worth it, last year I saw the new Wood Elves (pretty models, but they're Elves so they suck no matter how good the models are Wink) and the BloodBowl Tomb Kings were already on sale...

First time i went to GD Germany two years ago. Argh, what a big mess, chaos, crasy people, mostly younger than me... Shocked

Second time GD, last year, uff, still a mess, but more organised, the same crasy people like me, and age doesnt matter with this kind of hobby Very Happy

It´s fun to see all those ideas, not only BB, but Warhammer, 40k and what else... and talking with people from age 8 to 55 about this hobby. Some kids ask for my autogramm just in case if i win a Demon Surprised Also to see the newest releases like the new BB ogres, watching the demonstration games... it´s fun.

Entrance fee of the GD Germany was about 10-15 euro for the whole day. I stayed from 9am to 5pm to see if i win something... i was told later from one of the jury, it was close, but still not good enough Crying or Very sad I hope next GD they will give three demons plus a kind of ranking 4-10, just to see, if you under the first 10 places....
