North America - Baltimore Games Day 2004 BB Tournament

Post subject: Baltimore Games Day 2004 BB Tournament
After seeing that no BB was going to be played at this year's event, Gken has spoken with the organizer of GamesDay Baltimore to see if a BB tournament could be held. He stated there could be IF YOU ORGANIZE IT. So with that said...

Gken and I were thinking that there could be three games played minimum:

You win and you keep playing. One true champion will be crowned! Unlike last year, when two undefeated teams did not fight it out on the field and a champ was crowned by "points earned." YUCK! No elf scoring system will be instituted in 2004!

Losers go into the losers' bracket to see if they can still earn 2nd place. The winner of the Loser's bracket would play the loser of the champioship game for 2nd place.

Once you lose again (your second loss) at the loser's table, you move to the hallowed ground of the "0-fer" table! You lose here, and you continue playing! You win here and you're done! This chumpion will earn the sacred, Goodwinliabue Trophy (actually a bed pan), and s/he will hold the "throne" as the coach with the worst luck for an entire year.

Rosters must be legal according to the latest LRB.

SPPs would carry throughout the tournament.

Any other awards, ideas, or comments you would like to offer?

How many people would be interested in playing in this tournament?

ALL IDEAS ARE WELCOME! THANK YOU FOR THE HELP!

Deja vu'!

Egad! Who was that 'undeserving' champion - run 'em out on a rail, I say Very Happy Wink I think:

a. that additional scoring adds will probably be needed - TDs, CAS, painting, sportsmanship, etc. Three games will be barely enough to determine a winner if more than 20+ coaches show...;

b. a bad or good first game with SPPs and injuries, and a coach will have a decided advantage - this is the reasoning behind the current tourney rules evolution for skills and team reset;

c. while last year's rules WERE fun, the more current rulesets are better for determining the best coach... last year's rules were used because the Outrider who ran the event wasn't familiar with any alternatives...

I would like to know a date. I may be able to drag some of the coaches in the area to the event. Also, any links to the games day site would be nice so that I may sign up and get my pass early.

I have a group of fellow blood bowl coaches who may be attending Games Day in Baltimore if there's going to be a BB tournament.

We just started our Pretzel City Blood Bowl League in Reading PA (Check out our weblink under the BB leagues section of the NAF site). I will confer with my fellow coaches, but it could be from 3-6 of us making a trip down.

This would be a first tournament for any of us, so rules would need to be clarified. If there is no BB tournament going on, I may just bring my Warhammer army down instead.

Let us know what you guys are planning!
