Converting - Dark Elf conversions?

Post subject: Dark Elf conversions?

I've got the standard Dark Elf team which I've had for years and the paint job aint great. was going to strip them and repaint but was thinking of doing a few small conversions on them first (help make them more individual).

Problem is I'm drawing a complete blank... anyone want to help with some inspiration?

Here's a DE runner conversion I did a couple of years back (so the paint job is crap), made from a DE thrower.

I converted up my entire dark elf team with ninja masks. They look way cooler than the original models now.

since the players already have those skull-shaped cuirasses, kitting them out with skull masks could be cool. Snip of the heads, put plastic skeleton skulls in their places, use greenstuff to add hair or helmets.

What about using the plastic 40K dark eldar? Being plastic they will be easy to work with and pose.

for my next dark elf team i'm going to use the death elves from westwind miniatures. they look a bit goofy but i really like them

Same here. I used 40k plastic dark eldar. The guys with pony tails ended up being blitzers the guys with big hair became catchers, the guys with the extra tongs on their helmets were throwers and the rest were my linemen.

i do like the skill in the 40k eldar - but for me they dont look very blood bowl. Maybe an easy conversion is too swap the heads from an entire DE tem with 40k warriors.

in terms of custom scuplting i have long given up on 3rd ed figs. far too many of them have skull details and bits that you just cant change. Cant even think of anyone that has done it well - so maybe best plan is too think of other ideas.

btw - your DE i would say are painted pretty well - they are well above the average standard

Ive seen some realy nice DE teams converted out of dark eldar legs, dark elf spearmen bodies & heads and a mix of arms it simple to do and looks so good
