Well I have racked my brain (and that hurt ), looked in the last 2 annuals, the living rulebook and Q&A and I can't find the answer.
It's one of those niggling little rules which I'm 99.9% sure I know the rule but I can't check it 'cause I can't find the damn clarification .So, here it is:
What happens if you foul someone whilst holding the ball and get spotted and sent off?I'm sure the rule is that you have to restart the half, but I don't know where I read it.
Anyone clear this up for me? It's not just the answer I seek, more importantly where is it actually written.....?

It is in one of the rules reviews, but I can't remember which one and don't have the annuals handy. It was in Galak's LRB 3.0 beta.
"Q: What happens if a player holding the ball commits a foul and gets ejected by the referee?
A: The ball scatters from the ejected players square."

Restart the half?
If the player holding the ball is sent off because spotted making faul, the ball scatter and that's a tournover (both because you've been sent of and becouse the ball scatters and come to rest hold by nobody)...
That's what I know...

Thanks . I have checked the two annuals that I own (2002 & 2003) and that paticular Q&A is not in there, when you get a chance can anyone point me to the correct publication?
Ian, I'm really not doubting you. I very rarely need to check on a rule and when I do I like to know exactly where it is so I don't forget again.
