North America - Death Bowl 2504 - October 16th & 17th - Montreal, Quebec

CyberHare - Aug 24, 2004 - 02:15 PM
Post subject: Death Bowl 2504 - October 16th & 17th - Montreal, Quebec
House Rulez is pleased to once again this year host the one and only Death Bowl. Building off of the success of last years event this year promises to be even better.

If you would like complete tournament information or check out the rules please visit the Official Death Bowl Tournament website.

This year we have a brand new stadium for the top coaches to play on. Built into the active funnel of a volcano, Phantom Field is not for the weak of heart or soul. To my knowledge it is the first and only glass blood bowl pitch.

Attendee's to this years event will recieve a special limited edition figure that will only be given out as a attendance prize at two tournaments, the Death Bowl and CamCarnage.

Of course every coach will get a chance to play a round of Death Bowl during the final round. Coaches will also get the chance to try a round of Blood Bowl 7's during the 4th round of play. Check out the Tournament Rules section for more information about these rounds.

Work has continued on the Death Bowl Legacy Trophy. This year could be your chance to lift it in the air in victory.

Lunch on both days is included in the entry price. There may also be tournament t-shirts available if there is interest. Let me know if you'd be interested in purchasing a tournament t-shirt.

Confirmed attendee's thus far:

Brian St.James - (CyberHare) - NAF
Rene Roy - NAF
Brian Layne - NAF
Ryan Ash - NAF
Billy Zavos - NAF
Steve Lalancette - (Zombie) - NAF
Roderick Davidson - (Clan-Skaven) - NAF
Dan Tibodeau - (Will sign up for NAF at the event)
Ben Tusim - (Ben) - NAF

Possible attendee's thus far:
Melifaxis
KarlLagerbottom
GKen1
Twist
Spazzfist
Honeycomb Kid

Bryan-
I can see that you have put in a CRAZY amount of work into this. I am certainly going to try and be there and will want a T-Shirt either way.

-Rob

P.S. By the way...are there any special rules to simulate how the volcano might effect the game?

Thanks Rob. It's not over yet. I'll probably have that stadium finished the night before the event Razz That's two votes for t's, anyone else interested?

Nothing more than the optical tricks it'll play on you as the plasma light dances below the glass. The aim is to give a fair experience for everyone. Special rules would end up helping/hurting certain teams and that's definetly not the aim.

Can we pay on site or we have to pay in advance (House-rulez is being blocke by websense, here, so I can't answer those questions myself, maudit verrat!)

My sister has a new boyfriend who used to play Blood Bowl and he also has a friend who loves the game. I'm trying to convince them to come to the tournament!

I've already talked a few people into coming in the past few weeks. Let's keep it going!

Hopefully we can make this the biggest North American tournament to date! All we need is 49 people... Wink
CyberHare - Sep 27, 2004 - 03:24 PM
Post subject:
Hmm 49 eh. well I had set the upper limit at a loose 40 and I've only made preperations for that many. I won't turn anyone away though and we'll make arrangements on the spot if that many actually show up. I'm not going to hold my breath though Smile

As for the wooden spoon I've handed it off to last years wooden spoon recipiant and he'll be bringing it with him to the event. I like it almost as much as I like the axe... well ok not that much but it's a riot to have and talk about.
CyberHare - Sep 27, 2004 - 03:27 PM
Post subject:
BTW for those of you who were interested in t-shirts I have the sad duty to inform that there won't be any this year. I've looked into it and spoken with some people who have already done it and I've decided to not do it this year. I'm sorry for anyone who had their heart set on getting one.

That said what I am going to try to do this week is get the artwork that I was going to use on the T up on the HR website. That way if anyone really really wants a death bowl T they can print one up themselves.

Sorry for the inconvenience all.

Uhhhhh ... that would be 71 if you are shooting for the all time title. Wink ... 47 if you want it for just for 2004 ... however ... I think 37 gets you that title for largest Canadian tournament if memory serves (not sure if the Orion Cup ever had more than 36).

That ribbing aside ... I hope Brian has a bigger turn out than last year and that everyone has a blast and let's me know how easy it is to play on etched glass.

Yeah ... 2003 GenCon was 70 players. 2004 was 46. I think the Spike set the Canadian bar at 36 ... so take down the Spike first ... than I'll be only too happy if you guys take the NA title as well.

Rob (one of the guys at the SPIKE!) wants to go, but probably can't get the time off work, the other 3 from the SPIKE I think can not make it.

I have 2 rookie players who are interested, but there game speed isn't quite ready for tourney matches. (you know the rookie guys who take 10 min. turns sometimes!)

Toronto had it's chance last year and blew it Razz I believe we'll have the TO crowd outnumbered this year with Montreal Coaches so it's going to be a little harder to get the numbers lock on the championship game this time around.

Besides, Karl is going to win the title with his halfling team and then mock the rest of us, deservedly so, for the rest of the year Laughing

Hey Brian. I haven't seen anyone post a comment about the new "No General skills to Big Guys/Mummies" rule. Am I the only one here that hates this??? haha Is this rule really on the BBRC's list?? I hope and pray not. I heard the Chaos Cup is trying it out, but.... Man, that's really kicking a lot of teams in the teeth, especially Undead. Strangely enough the team I switched to is getting kicked hard too...Rats. A Wild Animal without Block is a no-go. Pretty much erasing a pick from our roster. Not only that, but it means you guys are gonna face even MORE Gutters!!! muhahaha Not good for you.

Well, the team's all done and ready to go. I dunno what time we (me, Bud, Cam and maybe Trev) will be on the road, but we most likely won't be there til late on Fri. But we'll be there for sure...to right that wrong. hehe

Let's not forget that the Flings are even weaker with this. Treeman without access to Block or Pro...

Let's see...they only show-up for the first half of each game on a 4-6. Then when they are there their blocks are unreliable...how many teams can't neutralize that STR 6 on the line with their own big guy, or STR 4 Black Orc/Bull Centaur/Mummie flanked with a Lineman or two with guard.

Then you try to use throw teammate with Agility 2. No Pro? No team Re-Rolls? Wow this throw team mate should work really often.

Whats left? STR 2 and slow as dirt? But my they are fun. (Until the game starts. Sad )

Play testing with this team has been a very frustrating experience. (Especially when consecutive turns end early when those 3+ dodges fail twice on the first or second 'Fling. This has happened at lease once or twice every other game. Gee...I sure hope we can find a way to screw these guys even more...)

-Rob

P.S. If I sound bitter...it's because I am. I will apologize in advance for my behaviour. I will try my best to take it in stride at the Death Bowl...but this team has no shot in any format. I am sure that I will be losing points for sportsmanship this time around. Please know that it will not be permanant. It sucks having to go into something with the knowledge that there is no possibility of victory in order avoid freaking out. Oh well...free points for my opponents.

Hey, halflings complaining about not being able to reroll stuff? Now that's ironic. Their opponents will have to play with zero reroll for the entire game...

Treemen are AG1 by the way. Doesn't matter much for TTM though. And that's another area where you shouldn't complain since orcs and goblins need to make a really stupid and an always hungry roll before they can even make the throw.

I think halflings can do really well in this tournament. A good coach could win the first 5 rounds with them just as easily as with any other team. For the final though (a Death Bowl game), that's another story...

This coming from the guy who played the all Block team...and didn't do terribly well. Talk about stacked.

I guess you'll be taking the 'Flings at the tourney then since you're convinced that they'll do well.

By the way...the chef is the only thing that the 'Flings can rely on...and even with that...who cares if I can't re-roll the two and three dice blocks that I will get EVERY turn against the Flings. And it does matter for TTM when the MV 2 Trees have the tacklezones to consider. (When they even bother to show-up.)

Also, your Orc and Goblin argument isn't a valid one as they have other options. The 'Flings are a one trick pony...even the gobbo teams don't have to worry about the Troll showing up, nor do they have a 50% chance of not gettingg up once knocked on the ground. Sure they are RS, but the nearby Gobs help with that...there is no releif for that on the 'Fling team.

If you think that the Flings can do really well...perhaps you should back that statement up by using them yourself. If not...then let me complain. That will not get me anything at the end of the day...but at least I will get it off my chest.

I've played halflings before, and did well with them. I almost played halflings at last year's Death Bowl but backed off because one in three teams was either dwarf or chaos dwarf. I know from experience that halflings can win, and i wouldn't be afraid to take them to a tournament with that intent. Halflings are a great TR 100 team, and very underestimated.

But in this Death Bowl final, the master chef will not be very effective, and that's the only reason i'm not playing halflings this year (well, that and the fact that there's this other team that i'm really itching to try).

Have you ever tried guard on the trees? Very effective, and so is multiple block. Are you aware that you can give a treeman block or pass on a double? Not too shaby. You can get two skills on each treeman in this tournament, instead of the standard one, which means fewer useless skills on halflings. Do you know how overpowered an AG4 fling is? You've got a 29% chance of picking up at least one in this tournament. You've also got a 41% chance of picking up at least one MA3 treeman, another jewel to be treasured. These tournament rules are actually very good for halflings, except for the Death Bowl final where you finally get the shaft. You've got no right to complain in the first 5 games. In those games, you'll have an extremely competitive team. From the looks of things, there will even be very few dwarf and chaos dwarf teams this year. Most people who played them last year are either not coming back or switching race.

Have you ever played goblins before? You think that halflings have a tough time throwing players? Trolls are so bad at throwing that Da_Scum paid huge money (i think it was 320k) to hire a star troll for the Spike just so that he wouldn't have to roll for very stupid and always hungry when throwing. Because he bought the star troll at such inflated price, he could only afford one rookie troll, not to mention a lot less rerolls and reserve. At the Spike, rookie trolls could get block, and the star couldn't. He still swears that it was worth it for him. Trolls downright suck at throwing players. Treemen are by far the best big guy throwers in the entire game. The only advantage goblins have over halflings is secret weapons, and they've been pretty much disallowed in this tournament. I pitty the guy playing goblins in this one, but not the guy playing halflings. Not until the final game anyway.

And why did you even bring up pro? Who cares if treemen can get pro on a double... they'd take leader long before that. And most tournaments don't let you get traits anyway.

Zombie-
I'm guessing that you played Halflings in a non NAF tournament, as I only see Norse teams associated with your name on here. I do not, or did not, underestimate the team and that is why I chose them in the first place. They are certainly not the best tourney team, but they should be fun. However, my play-testing has has not showed them to be at all promising. Sure I can chalk some of that up to my inexperience with the team, but when this supposedly unbalanced team can't even dodge out of trouble...what else do I have to count on?

It took me 4 games just to score my first touchdown. I'm sorry but I'm not THAT bad.

I'd also say that the Ogre is the best thrower. I am sure you will come up with some biased statistical analysis to refute that, but the 1 in 6 bonehead is alot less troublesome than the 3 in 6 to miss an entire half and another 3 in 6 roll to get up from a prone position. Also, the extra agility helps the accuracy roll...this turns out to be pretty big when it could mean life and death for the 'Fling involved.

I don't see Da_Scum's decision to purchase the Star Troll as any hardship. Think of it as an upgrade to the rookie troll. the Gobbos are so cheap that he can afford the inflated price. Using the star troll is akin to the 'Flings using Deeproot. Imagine having a Tree that will show up for the start of every game and also have Block to make his STR 7 Blocks that much more relaiable?

Deeproot's obvious advantages don't make the rookie Treeman suck. Just as the Start Troll doesn't make the rookie troll suck. There are positives and negatives to each...but overall the Gobs are the better roster.

+1 to the MA, +1 AV, Trolls dumb but there every time...keep a gobbo close and you have less expensive ogre.

Also, you ask me if I have played Gobbos, as you feel that they are even harder to throw. I don't know if I agree, but for the sake of argument lets say they are. That extra movement and relative durability make the gobs more flexible. And I hate to say this again, but their Big Guy is guarenteed to be there for the start of the game. Thus OVERALL they are a better team.

My statement that prompted your reply was not specific to throwing...it was regarding the over-all deficiencies of the'Fling team. This team without General Access for the big guys has to be very good AND very lucky to compete at all.

I would say that many people would site Galak as a very good Halfling player, and has has some success at tournements. Take into consideration then that he has a ranking of 147.66 and world-wide is the 4th ranked Halfilng Player. That means that there are only three teams ANYWHERE that are above the 150.0 baseline score. 3 teams out of 25 ranked teams in the world. If you use Norse as a team for comparison...there are 50 Norse teams ranked...the top 38 are ranked above the 150 baseline.

Whew...see I feel better already! Very Happy Got some of that off my chest...see you just had to let me rant a bit...now I'm all set to lose everygame with a cheery smile on my face. Smile

See you all there...just don't lose. You don't want to be the team to lose to the 'Flings. Smile

I played them in a league, and ended up with a .500 record (3-3). I would have done better had i actually used money to freeboot the chef and/or the star player treeman in those games, but i was saving money for the playoffs all along. I got eliminated in the first round of playoffs because i underestimated my opponent, having beat him 3-0 in the season, and didn't spent money on a star treeman for that game (electing to instead save cash so that i could field him in both the semi-final and final), and because my master chef stole 0 reroll in first half (out of a possibility of 3) and 1 in second half, and both my treemen didn't show up for the first half. Still, it was a tight game that i only lost 2-1. I think i had about 200k left in my treasury after that game.

      Quote:
I'd also say that the Ogre is the best thrower.

The only team that can throw players with ogres is a chaos team that freebooted a goblin star player. Since the star player can't use team rerolls for catching the ball and for landing, that makes at least 4 rolls (catch, bonehead, pass, land) and maybe more (up to 3 go for its) without a single team reroll backing them up. I'd much rather throw flings with a treeman.

      Quote:
I don't see Da_Scum's decision to purchase the Star Troll as any hardship.

Oh really? To field this guy, he dropped one rookie troll, fungus the loon (another ST6 player), one goblin and two rerolls. I talked to Da_Scum a lot during the tournament (heck, i was staying at his place) and he told me many times that the only reason he took the star troll was so that he could have any hope of throwing successfully.

      Quote:
+1 to the MA, +1 AV

Because of that, they cost 10k more. If i had the choice between a normal halfling team and one where the players have +1 MA and +1 AV and cost 40k, i'd take the normal one. Over 14 players, that's 140k extra to spend elsewhere, which is huge.

      Quote:
Trolls dumb but there every time...keep a gobbo close and you have less expensive ogre.

Ask any goblin coach. They would take treemen over trolls anytime. The trolls' two negative skills are huge drawbacks, especially when using TTM.

      Quote:
Thus OVERALL they are a better team.

The ONLY advantage that goblins have over halflings are their secret weapons. In a tournament like the Death Bowl where they can't take them, there's NO comparison. At the Death Bowl, i would rank goblins in 17th place out of all 19 races (only above chaos and nurgle), and i would probably rank halflings somewhere around 5th place.

      Quote:
This team without General Access for the big guys has to be very good AND very lucky to compete at all.

Like i said, there are very good skill choices for treemen in the strength category. Give both your treemen guard and multiple block and see how powerful that is. I'd much rather play halflings in a tournament where treemen can take 2 strength skills each than in a tournament where they can take one general skill. The fact that you can get traits and stat increases is also a HUGE bonus for a team where normal skills pretty much suck.

      Quote:
There are only three teams ANYWHERE that are above the 150.0 baseline score. 3 teams out of 25 ranked teams in the world. If you use Norse as a team for comparison...there are 50 Norse teams ranked...the top 38 are ranked above the 150 baseline.

A very large part of the reason for this is that because of the myth that halflings and goblins are not good, most people who bring them to tournament aren't there to win. Also, those coaches often aren't very good in the first place and are taking those teams because they feel they don't stand a chance anyway so it doesn't matter and/or because they feel it gives them an excuse afterwards for the losses they will undoubtedly take.

If people who played halflings played them competitively, you'd see them way higher in the rankings. The only teams that could really give them a hard time in tournaments are dwarves and chaos dwarves. Playing against anybody else and not missing both treemen for the first half, they should actually be favorite to win their games. Sure you've got the badlucky game (1 in 4) where both your treemen are missing for the first half, and you'll probably lose that one. But that's true of any team. If there's one thing i've learned in tournaments, it's that when you're out of luck, there's often nothing you can do about it, no matter what team you play.

      Quote:
See you all there...just don't lose. You don't want to be the team to lose to the 'Flings. Smile

Actually, i don't want to be the team that meets the flings. There are only two races that i'm really scared of in tournaments : wood elves and halflings. Those two are really tough to beat. Wood elves because i hate wardancers and halflings because i usually take about 3 rerolls and it really hurts to lose them all. I'm also not big on tackle and that hurts me against both of those.

Wow Rob,

Maybe you should start you own Halfling Coach support group! Wink

Or Zombie, maybe you can "fix it" so that you and Rob match up in the first game, then you can throw the game and boost his confidence! Laughing

I am not going to get roped into this whole goblin/halfling debate, but I play orcs and have also played an all-goblin team (not in tourneys though). As such I can relate how frustrating this tactic can be. But the thing to remember when playing a team like halflings is that you shouldn't expect to win! You are playing the underdogs. You know that, so accept it! Smile

You talked about losing sportsmanship scores, and I hope that you were not serious. Laugh when they go "squish" but laugh harder when they actually score. Win or lose, it is still a great game! (And any time that you feel that your team is letting you down, just remember what my team did to me at the Spike!) Embarassed

Look forward to seeing you there (and getting some payback!)

If you really think it's going to be that bad you don't have to take the Flings. I only said it would be interesting to see how they would do in the DB. In reality though I don't think they will do that bad. I tend to agree with Zombie that they are one of the better TR 100 teams and the fact that you get to roll for, stack and pick who gets skills in this tourney will only work to your advantage. If you really feel that you're getting the short end of the stick though there is one last thing I can maybe do. The morning of the tournament I'll put it to a vote to change Take Root to the following.

      Code:
Take Root

Before taking any action roll a D6. On a 2 or more, the player may take his action as normal. On a 1, the Player "takes root", and his MA is considered 0 until a touchdown is scored or the half ends, or he is knocked over (and no, players from his own team may not try and Block him in order to try to knock him over!). A player that has taken root may not Go For It, be pushed back for any reason, or use any skill that would allow him to move out of his current square. The player may block adjacent players without following-up.

I'll have to put it to a vote because it too close to the tourney to just change the rules now.

To be honest, I'd rather not have you even put it up for a vote at this point. I sincerely appreciate the consideration, but then you open up the Vault debate and we can do without that.

I appologize for my rant, but that's really all it was. I had just had two really miserable games on FUMBBL and saw the post about how bad it will be for CD's for them to lose General access, and had to respond. (It was basically a ..."grass is always greener" comment.)

Of course Zombie had to jump in and disect my statement, and being in the frame of mind that I was in, responded in kind.

Zombie-
I have since read your PM and appreciate your advice, but there are still a few points that I disagree with. (Moreso in your most recent post than in your PM. Actually some of what you had there I had considered already...unfortunately my online experiences have not gone over too well. I guess some of the fun factor of the 'Flings is lost on-line when you are just playing with preset images instead of the figs that you convert/paint in preperation for the face to face games.)

I kind of agree with Karl, Brian. A. changing the rules so close to the tourney and/or the day of the tourney is bad mojo and B. I'd personally rather have a rule-set that's as close to the "Book" as is possible. I definately like the thought of a tourney-with-a-twist (which a Death Bowl game certainly is!) but deviating too far from the LRB leaves people who've played for YEARS wondering what is what. Taking General skills from big boys is bad enough...creating rules to make Halflings more playable is insane! haha They're Halfers...they suck. That's what they do.

I differ from Karl and Zombie in that I think Halflings are ass from TR 100 all the way to TR 500! No matter what skills you have, you're still AV6 and super slow. hehe If both trees miss, there won't be a team left for them to come back to in the 2nd. And whereas every team has another team or two that "has their number", just about everyone has a rookie Halfer team's number. Norse/Dwarves/CDs will absolutely trounce 'em, Humans/Rats will beat 'em up AND light them up, and Woodies will outright blow 'em out with no fear of retribution.

But I guess it IS all about having a good time, and there really is NO pressure playing Halfers. In a tourney like this they'd be fun if you don't mind spending a weekend watching your well-painted figures fly into the Red Box faster than you can unpack more. In a tourney like the Spike! it's just a waste of $60. haha

Hey there,

Leave it to me to leave this uintil the last minute, but I have noticed a couple of things in the rules that don't jive with me.

First off you say that there are no illegal procedure calls allowed during he tournament, yet during the final Dathbowl round, there are no penalties, except for illegal procedures. So does this mean that there are going to beillegal procedures called in the final round?

Also, my team is orcs, and is made up of the following:

4 blitzers
4 black orcs
1 thrower
1 goblin
1 troll

According to your roster for the BB7's I will not be able to field a full team. What do you suggest?

I will PM you with the info of the hotel that we will be staying at. Maybe you can reach me there and LMK what you think.

Thanks,

I was allowed to go to Canada, but was told that the problem was coming back to the US.

To be more specific the Passport is not absolutely necessary...a valid photo id with two other documents proving citizenship would have sufficed.

I had my driver???s license, but not my voters registration or a birth certificate. Thus, I missed the Death Bowl.

Congrats to SBG for winning Deathbowl II.

The championship match was a nail biter right down to the last die roll. The four of us at the top table were Ben Tusim, Frederic Daigle, Glenn Jones & myself. Glen had a chance to tie up the game to take it into overtime. Turn 8 of the second half, everyone else has gone so Glen is the last player to play. He dodges with a Dwarf, hands it off to another Dwarf, makes a second dodge but uses the re-roll to do it. He then moves up to the goal line but needs to go for it .... he rolls the die after taking a couple minutes to relax.... the die wobbles for a couple seconds.... BAM a one. Shocked The four of us went crazy. Down goes the Dwarf and Fred takes the championship. It was a great end to a great weekend of Blood Bowl.

The round of BB7's went over very well so it will now be a permanent part of the Deathbowl lineup. There was some concern though about making it worth full points so I think we'll be making that round worth half points. I'm going to have to look at the results better to be sure though.

Full results will be posted as soon as I get the spreadsheet back from the Gent I borrowed the computr from Smile

Post subject:
But don't forget that everyone at the head table also got a 10 point bonus for playing in the championship round. The points for the top positions weren't that far appart. It came down to bonus points mostly as you say. That's pretty much what the points are there for.
Zombie - Oct 28, 2004 - 09:17 PM
Post subject:
Ten extra points for the final round doesn't even come close to accounting for the fact that people with 3-3 records came ahead of someone with a 5-1 record. And last year i won the whole thing with a pretty poor 3-0-2 (that's two draws for you, Europeans) record but lots of bonuses.

I really think that wins should count more and CAS and TDs should count less. I would give something like 4 bonus points for TDs and 2 for CAS. Those things should be tie breakers, not more important than a team's record!

If you keep the same points system next year, i'll probably bring a bashy team next time around (i'm thinking orc or necromantic). I found out that you just can't get to the top table in your system if you don't get some points for casualties.
CyberHare - Oct 29, 2004 - 04:57 AM
Post subject:
Or the other way around you need to score a lot. Which is the point of the game. To score points and win. Anyone can win a game by one point. Yay. Winning by one point simply means you got a couple more lucky die rolls than your opponent as far as I'm concerned. That's why losing by one point is the same value as a tie. You lost sure but not by much. Now winning by 2 or more points means something. You've actually outplayed your opponent. Yes it's possible to have a very lucky game and win by two but more often than not scoring more means you are a better coach as the better coaches can handle the downturns in luck.

I didn't get many casualties but I still got to the top table. In fact I think I usualyy gave the cas bonus to my opponent. I scored more though and won the games with bigger score differences.

You're also skewing the results a little bit though. Round 4 didn't move anyone in the ranks much at all. So saying you won or lost that round doesn't mean much. And that only left 4 other points rounds to get to the championship match. Which meant you had a loss during one of you points matches where as those of us on table one got a loss from the DB round.

I will be changing the points a little for next year though. The 7's round will be worth more. HAd it been worth the half points & bonus points for this year then yes you would have been in the final round. I know I wouldn't have been in the champ round had it been for full points.

I disagree. As with any real sport, the important thing is not how you won the game, but that in the end you did win it. In the end, winning is all that matters.

Even if you don't count round 4 (which still cancels your argument about getting 10 extra points for being on table one since i got 10 extra points in round 4 compared to anyone on table one), i still had 4 wins while the 3 guys who finished above me had only 3. I don't think that's right.

And i'm not just saying this because i got screwed this time around, because i also don't think it was right that i won the Death Bowl last year (or that i was in the final 4 in the first place) based on the same argument.

My problem is not with round 4. My problem is with too many points given for TD and CAS bonuses, and way too few given for actually winning the game. And i still say it makes no sense at all for a loss by 1 to give as many points as a draw. I'm glad to see most other tournaments have moved away from that system already.

I'm not sure what scoring system Brian used ... but I thought it was a version of the Underworld/Origin/GenCon/Chaos Cup point system. Bonus points matter in that system ... but not nearly enough to create the effect that Zombie is discussion.

A win by 1 TD and less Cas is either 5 points more or equal to a Tie with more Cas. So unless Brian REALLY changed the point system from what I thought he was using I'm not sure how a 5-1 would be so many points down from a 3-3.

I thought these were to differentiate between 2, 3 and 4 in order to determine who counts as having played against whom. I never thought for a seond that two people who got the same number of TDs could get anything but a tie.
