Rules Questions - Star PLayers

Ok I'm sure this question has been asked numerous times, but here goes.

If I have a full roster (16) players, can I still hire a Star Player for one game? (I'm talking League matches) Now I know this could vary from League to league, depending on various house rules.

But what is the official ruling on this?

Example, a Goblin team with 14 Gobs, & 2 Trolls wants to hire a Star Player for one match, lets say Fungus the Loon. Even though for that match the team would have 17 players is that ok?

Also while I'm on the topic, what about just freebooting regular players for one match?

Example, a Skaven team who has 16 players (including 4 Gutter Runners) could I freeboot another Gutter Runners just for that game?

I have other variants of questions pertaining to this subject, but I'll wait to see what the responces are to the questions I have already posted are.

Thanks in advance, Rod.

In short - No.

In long - No!

From the Living Rulebook 3.0 pg 42 - Playing League Matches, 1. Hire Freebooters, Wizards & Star Players

Paragraph 5 excerpt
"..any Freebooters that are hired may not take the number of players in the team to more than 16."

This includes Star Players and normal players appearing on the team list.

So the only excption would be the "Hadicap" Table result, I think its called "That Boys Got Talent" I do believe it says you can go past your 16th. player.

Now with that said, if a Goblin team gets that result on the Handicap Table then they can grab another Gobo. Now lets say the Goblin team has 16 Goblins (ya right who's not gonna take the Trolls!) So if your Gobo team had 16 Goblins, & you got the above mentioned Handicap Roll, you could grab a 17th Gobo for that game only.

Now lets say it was an Orc team, who gets the above mentioned Handicap, & lets say they to have 16 players (with 4 Black Orcs) I'd think that they could grab a free Black Orc for that game only.

Now I understand that some may argue that you can only have 1- 4 Black Orcs on a team. But on a Goblin team it says you 1-16 Goblins (& the Handicap Clearly states you can have a 17th. player) So if Gobos (& Halflings for that matter ) can go past thier max allowance, then why could an Orc team not grab a 5th Black Orc, or a Human team not grab a 5th Blitzer?

Again thanks in advance for any answers, Rod.

"That boy got talent" is not freebooting, so no limits apply.
You can take a player of any position (big guys are not part of the team list).
So a wood elf team could field 3 wardancers, a human 5 blitzers and an orc team 5 BOB (allthough i would prefer a 5th blitzer).
