Are those from Shadowforge? I have the traditional human and elf teams (not painted yet). I hope to have the human ones for your tourney

However this means I will have to find time to get back to some updated modeling, as I need even more expendable bodies ready! But be sure this time it will again be the Trailer Park Trolls taking to the field for Da Maggot Scum...provided they remember the way to the stadium. Rolling Eyes

Don't get me started on last year again!

There was a huge conspiracy....

* I'm the only Skaven team in the tourney out of 28 total coaches (very odd in deed)
* I play my first 2 games in the exact same order by race (Wood Elf then Dwarf, coincidance? I think not!) as the previous tourney I attended (2003 Canada Games Day) Also held in Toronto, Hmmmm!
* Most of all not any Warpstone at all in the Dug-Outs. I was to understand refreshments were to be provided.... (Orcs were given thier Squig Juice, Gater-Orc & Orca Cola, Dwarves all had thier Bugmams readily supplied, & the rest of the teams had thier pallets quenched by some sort of refreshment.) But the only Skaven team put to play without Warpstone? Our destiny was pre-arranged & decided for us in advance! Clearly a prejudiced & stab not only at us "Hell Pit Wildrats" (the greatest BloodBowl Dynasty this side of the Old World), or to the supriour race known as the Skaven. No no this was a stab right in the heart of the spirit of BloodBowl itself!

Mr. Dundas, Mr. Watts, TBBF, BUD! I have my eye on you, clearyly you feared us last year, & it would appear you will do the same this year! (not to worry we the Hell Pit Wildrats have some treats lined up in our bag of tricks!)

We will rise above all else, & claim what is rightfully ours! We will be the 2005 Canadian Open Champions!

(See Spazz, I told ya not to get me started! Wink )

With a team like the Hell Pit Wildrats in tow its hard not to brag. With such players as our fearsome Rat Ogre "GNAW VERMINTIDE" sure he has a recent drop in coordination (more diabolical acts are my assumption there!). Despite his lowered AG he will still be an offensive threat in the future. (Gamestats for him, SPIKE 2004, 3 receptions & 2 TD's, Death-Bowl 2004, 1 reception for 1 TD!)
Our beloved Captain, "Dire Poison-Piss" , or passing the ball "Whitey Pale-Blood" (the greates Albino to hit the BB World!) or his counterpart "Filthy Warp-Hurler".

We have many more superstars, but quite honestly the masses do not deserve to be awwed & mistafied by such a magnificent spectical BB talent any more than they do to even glance at my Canadian Open Prize!

I mean besides myself, Tampons (I mean Talons) & 40GayVet (I mean 40KVet), there is no trash talk. Despite the occasional rant by Garth, but he's from Ottawa so that doesn't count!

What I'm really disapointed in is the TBBF'ers..... Last year I tried to egg you all on & it fell on deaf ears!

Is the TBBF too civalised to stoop to trash talking from those of us from Niagara, Ottawa, & whereever?

What does TBBF stand for anyway, Timmid Bashfull Boy Fairies ? or is it Tearful Babies Balling Forever?

Here now! I'll have you know I have some perfectly good Snotlings on my team! Last thing I want them to do is to think there's any other coaches worthy of them...which there isn't mind you. Mr. Green

Besides you know how much Guinness those Snotling fans bribe me with to let their champion Spot "The Norse Bane" play? Worship

And who needs an opinion from those TBBF'ers, you can just go and read it from their team's entrails after the match. Twisted Evil It's not like any of them go to OTHER major tournaments outside the select few where they have placed the appropriate bribes so neoliminal can do his thing and choke on the final day so one of them can ooze to a win. Heck, What the H*ll Exclamation I will always burn Nuffle in effigy before, during, after, any game, tourney, day, night, or whatever!

Yeah, I had a good weekend. Tons of fun. I lay it all at the feet of having consistently decent luck both days: 1st place, best painted (woot!), best defense, best offense (and also had the 2nd most bashiest team). I rock. Wink

I THINK painting scores were perfect across the board and there were only a coupla points difference here and there for sportsmanship. Not sure, it's all a haze.

Like I say you have to be good (Which we all know he is Worship ) AND you have to be lucky to win the big slab of swag at the end! Laughing

...which was why the Goblins had the WORST streak of luck on day two I've ever seen...unbelievable....my two loses should have been ties or wins except for a sudden plague of Ian's "one's" on me! And that tie should have been a win except for my imitation of Ian crossing the goal line! Laughing

And that first "tie" on day one was a Goblin win. However on "instant reply" it dawned on us that we'd screwed up one critical die roll. We replayed it and the Goblins STILL pulled it off, however I felt since it was my responcibility to have caught the goof the first time I argued it should be made a Tie instead. The honourable coach of the PMS (my opponent) agree and our petition to the commish was accepted. (He was okay both before and after the replay keeping it a win, but nope, had to be made a tie I felt, as it's my fault I figured.)

End result is the Goblins would have had a very different day two...le sigh... Laughing

But it goes to show what keeps me in the tournaments for Bloodbowl and what made me drop out of the Magic ProTour years ago. These are the most decent, fun-loving and honourable coaches I get the pleasure of meeting up with a gooning the crap out of!

So Game on!

So if I have it correctly you recieved the 1200K before the event to build a team and the team was static throughout the event. Correct? Would have been interesting to try. I Agree with Rod whole heartedly. It's good to see events getting their own flavor. The same idea over and over again gets a little old. Right. Which would more or less end you up with a team that had run through a standard tourney format. Depending on your skill choices of course. Did anyone miss the team building aspect of the tournament. It's interesting that there is a movement going on towards making a tourney more like a league, ie. a lot of team building, and along comes an event with no team building. At least during the event.

Yes normal Skills were 30K
Doubles were 50K
AG & MA increases were 80K
ST was 100K

You could give a player two upgrades as long as they were only 2 normal Skills. (The one exception is Ben of coarse, CHEATER! Razz )

An excellent tourney, aren't all TBBF tourneys? Wink Ian did an excellent job. I had a great time among friends, it was good to see everyone again! The 120 TR thing put an interesting spin on things. I was unaware of how deadly a team could become with skills out the @$$ like this! Personally, my AG5 Wardancer was a waste of cash versus the death machine teams out there. I pretty much felt like I needed a handicap roll or two with my 4 skills & agility when facing 10+ skills across the pitch! If I were to take Wood Elves again to a tourney like this, I'd invest in 3 more skills rather than the agility and a FF. Perhaps blocks/dodges on linemen. They were punching bags.

Overall, elves finished 10th, 14th, and 15th, with skaven at 7th and 9th. I think perhaps rats can keep up with the bash a little better with cheaper linemen and a Rat Ogre. The tournament seemed to be foul crazy, not exactly optimum circumstances for a wood elf squad. Shocked

As they say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em! If you'll excuse me, I have some painting to do... Wink

Its ConnORS! First you kill my troll slayer on the first turn, now you spell my name wrong, thats it Kolija, its really on now Smile

well, finishing 2nd wasn't too bad for my first tourney I guess. I really liked the 1200k format, it really makes things different and you can see some really interesting teams out there, more than you would with just 1000k.

Overall, it was a good weakend.

I think Kevin mcNall got 17 casualties and I got 16 (sooo close).

Brian, I liked the fact that there was no team building in this tourney except at the beginning. I didn't expect to like it but I did. With team building throughout the tourney game 6 is a very different type of game than game 1. Without team building everyone is playing the same opponent teams and the results can be compared more easily. Also, i got to get very used to my team and how it played which made the weekend easier on the brain.

Sportsmanship? You'll have to ask Ian. I am not sure why most people got 10 points in the final tally since each game contributed 5 pts.
Anyway, most got all 5 allocated in each game. A couple of people were only given 4 points in a game here or there. Two people had a big problem with a game result but they handled it with exceptional sportsmanship and Ian gave them each a bonus point for that.
To be honest, I suspect that it should have been out of 30 pts, not 10 but there was a glitch in the spreadsheet. What we did is we added up the 'lost' points, not the 'gained' points, since that was easier and then subtracted them from the base. In other words, a guy with 8pts had 2 games with 4 pts so a net -2 pts, which was then subtracted from the base. So if you really wanted to you could add 20 pts to everyones scores to get the 'real' value. It wouldn't change any rankings or anything though.

Kool thanks Kolja, now it makes sense. & If I forgot to say, great Job Ian You as always put on a blast of a time! You too Kolja, you were there when Ian couldn't so you also helped run the tourney smoothly. (Hmmmmmm the Tourney Organiser's Helper Takes First Place? Neutral )

I was suprised by your team selection, Cam. I thought all you elves would take a 12th player, an extra reroll and convert a line elf or two into position players.....

On a positive note, I gave BUD's Woodies thier first NAF non-win with my come from behind 3-3 tie in game one!

The NFBBA may not have faired as well as the TBBF, but we did score higher than Da Scum's crew! Don't you worry TBBF at the Q'ermit we will get you!

that be great if someone else didn't give him his woodies their first NAF loss. Tight game, but the Elves just couldn't stand up to my dwarfs.

Ah, what you ask of me, Kolja... Kinna be done! Maybe if the TR was 150. Wink Losing the AG+1 would get me another lineman... And what else is there to take other than more catchers? I just needed more skills instead I think. With a sub and a RR, I'd be down to 2 or 3 skills! Shocked

Not to sound impatient again............

Oh who am I kidding, I'm always impatient after a tourney!
But when will the games be put in & the perverbial button get pushed for the 2005 Canadian Open?

I'm not complaining, you guys do a great job every time, its just after every tourney I'm like a little kid doing the 'I gotta go pee-pee dance!' in anticipation to seeing the results!

Thanks in advance, Rod.

2 NECROMATIC........ 1st, 3rd
2 DWARF.................. 2nd, 4th
2 SKAVEN................. 7th, 9th
2 WOOD ELF.............. 10th, 14th
2 ORC....................... 5th, 17th
1 AMAZON................. 8th
1 CHAOS DWARF........ 11th
1 GOBLIN................... 12th
1 HIGH ELF .................15th
1 NORSE ....................16th

Dead and buried still, where else would they be? Rolling Eyes

Well at least my crew grabbed the gooning trophy, which made them feel a heck of a lot better. Otherwise only one had previous experience in a tournie before, and one had only started playing this month!

Now give them some more seasoning and practice in the league, and we'll just see now won't we? Orc

...just as long as they don't borrow my horrible luck from day two! Laughing
