House Rules - Bounties

Ok, here's another one I'm curious about. In our league a coach wanted to place a bounty on one of my players (because he inflicted 2 casualties on him - both niggles - in our match).

I thought what the heck, but let's limit it to:
* One bounty/team/season.
* Limit 25k GP's
* No coach can have more than 2 bounty against him at any time (to prevent ganging up on the leader by all coaches).

Anyone else use bounties or think it's a fun addition to the game?

We use them in our league

We have no limits (as long as the necesary money is available).
And until now no bounty had to be paid, because the players with a bounty on them refuse to die Wink

You might want them to put the money up when the bounty is made. Have the Commish keep track of the bank.

The only reason we don't do this in our league is it's an easy way to dump team rating. We only place bounties with cash or bribes- and I find that this actually adds more incentive in any case. One player in our league is willing to pay upwards of $20 for each elf killed on a certain team. Another coach vowed to buy pizza if he wasn't the casualty leader in one tournament. A third promised pizza for all if no Elves made it to the final four of our Blood Bowl championship.

It adds a lot to the game, and can result in some real surprises. The casualty hungry coach wound up tying for most casualties, and had to buy us all pizza!

Yep. Using in-game money does have certain game-balance implications. Using the "Drunken Bets(tm)"-system with off-game rewards emphasises the social side of the game without altering the game itself.

Remember - betting ones pubic hair is a sure way of losing the said bet, unless the other guy has his pubic hair in the line too, in which case the result is unclear.

Although the social bets are good, we use a system that, I think, prevent TR dumping.

We can place any bounty on any players. Some are for killing them, other are for Niggling them.

If the coach can't pay the bounty when the injury occurs, he automatically loses a FF, and every FF roll made while the bounty isn't covered is made at an additionnal -1.

Believe me, it makes a lot of counting when you have too many bounties on the line and too few coins in your pockets !

you could use the rule that as soon as a bounty is offered by a certain coach for a certain feat, the coach can only offer a bounty he can pay at that moment (though off course he can later offer more money). The coach then has to set the money for bounties aside from his "free" money; simply divide the treasury into two spaces for this end.
The bounty money can not be used anymore, but until the bounty is paid, it will be added to the Totall Treasury for TR calculations.

I am not a great fan of bounties, or of money changing hands between coaches during a league. Of course, it can be entertaining.

I once put a bounty of 100,000 (my own "money" - I was both a coach and the league commissioner) on the "head" of a Greater Demon of Tzeentch (when such things were official). In the next match, the Demon's opponent drew a Dirty Trick card (again, when still official) called Spike (I think). This enabled a Foul to automatically penetrate armour. He then rolled a 10, consigning the Demon permanently to the Warp.

So far so good. I coughed up, the Demon killer immediately "lent" the 100,000 to the Chaos coach so that he could re-purchase the Demon...

So the main effect of bounties may simply be to impoverish the coach who posts the bounty.

Cheers

Interesting feedback guys, thanks! I'll put it up for vote in the league and see what they have to say.
