These Cards were a great part of BB, but looking in LRB4 they seem to have gone? Have I just missed where they still exist?

Thanks Guys

Gone, but back in Vault 1.10 as an option. IIRC, they were never a part of Blood Bowl proper, but Death Zone (but I only started playing BB with LRB 3, so I can't say for sure).

yea they're out, they made the game waaaay to random and crazy and some people just didn't like that. Its too bad, some of them were pretty fun, but at the same time, I don't mind not having to stress out about my opponent having "Is it a TD" after I scored or replacing one of his players on the line wiht a dummy stuffed with explosives.

While the cards did come out in the Death Zone expansion, they were 100% official, as was all the rules in that set.

They was fricken hilarious!
to my mind they made BB the game it is, what is better than running forward towards the enemy end zone, tripping and landing on a mine? or falling dropping the ball and having a dog run with it acros the board, what is better than the stricken look on your oponents face as his Star Player falls down to the assasins blow gun.

Dude, to lose the cards is a savage blow, I will mourne their passing.

The cards will be back in 2007. Actually I know several leagues that are already using the new card tables from the new rules.

Dude thats great news!!!

this is the post that would have ended up in the other topic but twas closed Sad

Hey Guys,

I have just joined the NAF (at MOAB) and have only recently got back into BB after a few years of (for good behaviour?)

Something that strikes me about this whole thread, and possibly the whole process going on, is that alot of people are saying "fair". What is fair? this is a sports game, is it Fair that Bangladesh (sp?) should have to play South Africa in cricket? they will only win one in 6 or 7 games, look at the last cricket world cup, they only one once (that i can remember). Blood Bowl, the Blood Bowl that I loved and played all night, was random, zany, unpredictable, it is a corrupt game of "football" not warhammer on a pitch.

I agree with the people who argue that ogre's should win more than haflings, they are bigger, tougher and more likely to belt anyone who bets against them.

Why are we trying to make the game more structured? Blood Bowl is the game you played on the back oval at school, where there were few rules and when someone got hurt everyone disapeared, why are we trying to make it resemble the Premier League?

The Game should be random, I use Orc's have done since my first game, I don't use them cause I win alot (but I do Laughing ) I use them cause they are fun.

The point of all this rant (almost midnight, I have an excuse) is mainly a question ... Why? Why are we doing this to a game that wasn't perfect in 3rd ed, but waz bloody fun, especially with the death zone add on. Why? did we cut out some of the best aspects of the game, I loved the cards, Magic Items, Dirty Tricks and Random Events, they could turn a loseing team into champions, they could make the Gutterrun cough up a hairball with the "Is it a TD?" card. Why? is fouling so frowned upon now? sure a Skaven kill squad was a pain but they was bloody funny to see 9rats surround Morg and lay the boot in.

Galak, Is there any chance of a revival of the Cards in the new edition?

I am just starting a tourney in the next few weeks and will be using the cards, but I think its a bit hard that one of the best aspects of the game should be relegated to a house/tourney rule.

anyway thats my, poorly thoughtout and ill conceived 2cents worth, cant want to see the final product Laughing

Cheers

Lack

I guess then my fears are allayed and I should get back to more of the good stuff.

Download the current Vault (PBBL) rules. They're at the end of the Inducements section, IIRC. You won't find them in the current LRB.

You'll see a download for 1.9 ... this will be 1.10 in a week or two.

Anyway .. Pages 44 to 51 have the new cards. There are now 104 Special Play Cards (more than 3rd edition had).

They are seperated into 7 decks. 4 decks of 50k cards, and then 1 deck each of 100k, 200k, and 400k cards.

For LRB 4.0 I recommend using them one of two ways:

1) Allow each coach to draw 2 50k cards or 1 100k at the beginning of each game as a way to use them just for fun.

2) Delete the LRB 4.0 handicap table and allow a player to draw cards equal to the difference in the Team Ratings * 10,000. So if I was playing a team that was 55 TR points higher I could spend 550,000 drawing cards to help me out for that game.

I know one league that is doing the second option with the LRB 4.0 rules and has said his league is having a lot of fun with this option as the cards are more in-game effects and since they have 4 levels of worth better equal out the game than the static pre-game effects of the handicap table which doesn't have leveled effects based on the TR difference.

Yeah, they are listed as optional in the experimental rules. You can use them in a variety of ways, and their monetary cost is variable depending on how crazy the card is. Desperate Measures costs a huge amount per card, while the 'Good Karma' deck is less.

...they are definitely a ton of fun Very Happy We use them
