I just took a look at the vampire rankings and noticed that every team listed is below 150.

So out of interest I looked at all the others and this is the only race that this is true for. Even Ogre, Nurgle, Goblin and Halfling have some teams in a favourable light.

Kinda crazy I was somewhat surprised.

We gave the Vampire team a slight boost for league and tournament play in LRB 5.0 so hopefully that will help it.

I don't know whether the samples are large enough to derive anything from those numbers. For example, most coaches listed played one tournament with them, and not all were NAF games. Confused

To play a new team sometimes involves changing your overall approach, and you might need a while to adjust to a tactic suiting your play style. Playing five games in a tournament might not be sufficient for your learning curve.

It also doesn't help your ranking if your two losses in games 1 and 2 counted but the last two games at the lower tables were wins against non NAF members. Crying or Very sad

The vamps also don't include the one or two artefact rankings the other races include, which will certainly have an impact on their numbers.

By the way: why did the boost occur in LRB 5? Were the vamps considered too weak? What was the intention of the boost, in terms of numbers?

Well when the newquay bowl results are in I think I will be a shoe in for the top vamp coach.

I found them a lot less hassle than people make out.

There is about 100 Vampire games on the NAF so far - and in my experience once you get over 50 numbers tend to move slowly.

Grum isn't having a problem because he's a really good coach - and many players on the tournament scene aren't online regulars so don't necessarily get exposed to good coaches with new/uncommon teams.

Didn't Gav tell you? Something about not ticking a box on the tourney submission page, so the Newquay Bowl doesn't count for NAF rankings.

The boost came because the team was 2nd tier but it was 2nd tier on the brink of 3rd tier for most coaches.

Really it wasn't so much of a delibrate boost as a cleaning up of the rules that helped the Vampire team.

The question was posed from a league playtesting that a new player found it confusing that Bonehead/Really Stupid effects make the player lose his TZ until the start of his next action but HGaze does the exact same thing but only until the end of the turn. The new player wondered why we had the same effect with 2 different timings. I didn't have a good answer for that and since the Vampire team was already in the lower ranks of BB ... I didn't see any reason to stop the rules from using the same timing and cleaning up the game a bit on that note.

Same thing with the allowing apothecary on Vampires. More of a rules cleaning than a delibrate attempt to improve the Vamps.

So in the end ... both of these changes were things that helped the Vampire team without actually going out and saying lets make the Vampire team better. The one attempt to do that was for a while we tested the Vampires having the Stab skill for 10k more. That was eventually voted down as a change. So they didn't receive any help that was planned ... they are lucky winners in the rule clean up lottery more than anything.

the actual vamps can use appoth? or just the thralls?

the thralls can at the moment LRB 5 the vamps can as well

Yup ... we didn't see the need for the special rule especially when in most cases healing a Vampire in mythos is as easy as dumping a bucket of blood in his face which we figure most BB apothecaries could handle.

So we removed the special rule about the apoths from the game so if a team can use an apothecary than every member of the team can use him. So now the apothecary isn't conditional by player .. it is only conditional by team.
