Converting - Taken Root?

I know that there are ogre players out there who use dunce caps for when their ogres bonehead, and I am in the process of puttying up a few and even a question mark or two (magnetized) to go on th heads of the big lugs.

But I am stumped (no pun intended) on what to do for the treeman when he has taken root. Does anyone have any brilliant ideas that I can steal to put some kind of marker to indicate when a treeman has taken root?

Make sume vines (almost lookin like barbed wire) have the vines go around the big oak's trunk.

I dunno just an idea
