Hi Folks,

I should get official confirmation from the Arisia convention soon that ArisiaBowl II will be on this year. Arisia has moved to a new hotel this year in the Boston area, but its still on the Martin Luther King weekend, Jan 12-14:

I???d like to get folks input on the tourney structure from anyone who thinks they might attend. Input from folks who actually attended last year will get weighed much more heavily in my final decisions. I???ll be crossposting this, so some of you may see this a few times.

Most of the folks who attended last year were local and prefer a 1-day tourney. Out-of-towners are more likely to attend a 2-day event.

Would you attend for any or all of these options:
1) 2 Day tourney, Saturday + Sunday
2) Saturday only tourney
3) An additional Sunday only tourney (this would likely be a minor league tourney with BB 7s, Streetbowl, and/or Beach Bowl. Bab???s 7???s rules played on a regular pitch look interesting: http://www.geocities.com/blood-bowl/seven.htm This would be a minor-league tourney to keep the rounds short. Monday is a holiday for folks travelling, but the con does wrap up c.5pm Sunday.)

3a) And if there is a Sunday only tourney, would you be interested in running it? If there???s interest in this, I???d be torn between running it or spending the day doing other stuff at the convention.

(Note: the convention opens Friday afternoon/evening, there will be gaming space for anyone who wants to do pick-up games then if you???re arriving early.)

For local leagues, Danger Planet has gone over to LRB 5 and the HBBL is dormant. Personally, I haven???t played 5.0 yet, I didn???t want to even think about it before the Death Bowl and get the rules confused. My inclination though is to go with 5.0 for ArisiaBowl II, with TR110 so coaches can afford big guys. I???ll sort out tournament house rules later (but the Eye would come back!)

Would you attend for any or all of these options:
4) LRB 4.0 Rules
5) LRB 5.0 Rules

Thanks,
Maureen

Just confirmed the first of our prize support last night. The GW store in Harvard Square will be supplying two unpainted teams. Dwarves and Lizardmen should be on the way Very Happy

Not 100% or even 30% sure I will attend but after the Deathbowl a relized how much I LOVE BB tournies. Though here is my ½ or even ¼ vote:

1) would be cool for an out of towner but M.L.K. Day is not a holiday in Canada.

2) based on the 9 hour drive I would be cool with this idea (Torronto area BTW)

3) if it were split between 2 days [ each a seperate tourny] I would skip the 2nd day to drive home.

4) & 5) do not care. I want to play rather than bitch about the subleties of a Fictitious sport.

I've been negotiating with Arisia Programming for space. This year the con had to move to a smaller hotel when the Park Plaza pulled out from under them. Arisia is still very happy to keep supporting the ArisiaBowl, but due to the space constraints, we can only get room on Sunday, and we need to wrap up by c.5-6pm when then con ends.

So ArisiaBowl will be a Sunday only event this year, and now I'm wrestling between doing 3 rounds of regular play, or 4 rounds of 7's and/or other minor league play.

ArisiaBowl will definitely be one day, Sunday 14 January. Can we get this officially sanctioned please?

I'm in the process of polishing up the tourney rules now. 4 rounds of play, each team chooses their own type of pitch for their home field: Oz 7s (regular pitch), BB7s, Beach Bowl, or Street Bowl. Dice off for which of the two ptiches to use at the start of each match; +1 die roll modifier if your previous match wasn't played on your type of home field.

Cheers,
Maureen
