Is this the "Oficial GW SPIKE"?

Rod

Cause theres me holding the GW SPIKE for winning the 2006 SPIKE! (far left) Now if your tourney is the same (with that actual SPIKE Trophey, then I'll have to possibly make a defence to my prize.

How patehetic was this? This should be a poll.

EDIT: How many seats is this maxed out this year, 12? Good luck defending with the new larger pool of players.

Oh yeah, I think that no one over a CR of 150 is allowed in either. Smile

EDIT2: And before anyone :cough: Talons :cough: get's overly twisted over this, please see below...

To answer some of the Questions,

Yes this is the G.W. Spike??? Games Workshop Canada is looking for ways to involve their local gaming clubs in promoting the Tournaments for all their games (including Blood Bowl). This is the first attempt, therefore I believe that GW Canada is making a real effort to keep the Spike Tourney in Canada. SO, Come out & support it.

The Alberta Blood Bowl Association has held a tourney for the last 3 years here in Calgary called the Apocalyptic Challenge over the July long weekend. Last year 2006 we had 20+ coaches playing for the right to call themselves the best Blood Bowl Players in the west.

The Spike Magazine Trophy will be held over 2 days
Price will be $30.00 CND in advance or $40.00 at the door
With a total of 7 games played (we tried 8 last year, TOO LONG)
There will be trophies & points award for:

Best Painted Team (including coaches, cheerleaders & extras)
Best Sportsmanship (Voted by your fellow coaches)

There will also be Specialty Trophies Awarded as well

End Zone Hog Award (Most Td???s in total ??? most in 1 game as tie breaker)
Guillotine Award (Most Casualties caused in total- most in 1 game as tie breaker)

The Raspberry Slushy Award (Given to the team who suffers the most causalities in total - most in 1 game as tie breaker)

There will also be a 2nd place trophy

As well the Spike will be in Calgary and the WINNER will have his name & team engraved on it with the blood of your fallen foes. Smile

We are looking into other give aways as well ??? just for showing up.

If you have any other Questions post them.

Hope to see everyone here we have space for 150 coaches.

Did you want the names of the players/teams of the 3 past years (SPIKE 04,05,06)

SPIKE 2004 Ben Tusim, Rats of Nimh defeated Necromaniacs (Skaven/Necromatic)
SPIKE 2005 Trevor Clapham, Stubb'ees defeated Chaos Pride (Dwarf/Chaos Dwarf)
SPIKE 2006 Rod Davidson, Hell Pit Wildrats defeated Low Down Dirty Rats (Skaven/Skaven)

Rod.

I have to be honest ... I'm psyched to see the Spike getting proper support now. I think the fanatical members of the NAF have done a great job helping where they can to get all four GW Majors back into the right mode.

Thanks ToppyT.

I agree with this...I am happy to see someone trying to return this to "major" status. Having this anounced this far in advance should help in getting a nice response.

I think I may be returning to the Great White North for this one. Smile

Cool! I think it's a fantastic idea that the Spike travels around the country. No reason Toronto has to host everything. It's unlikely I'll be able to make it but I wish you guys the best of luck!

Now if only those wimps from out East would come out... Rolling Eyes Laughing

It was a great time, 28 coaches from all over Alberta and a few from Vancouver, BC. It was great to meet old friends and meet new ones. Didn't do that well wtith the points and standings, but I was there to have fun. It will be great to see it bigger and better next year.

Will post some pics when I have some more time.

Nice pics Torg, looked like fun.

Now that I'm no longer the reigning SPIKE Champion (& more importantly I have a good paying job again) I can finally travle again to long away Tourneys. Maybe next year I'll try & reclaim my SPIKE Very Happy

Seriously looks like the SPIKE is in better hands out there Great job guys!!!

I do not see this tourney anywhere on NAF, 28 ppl in attendance would be an awfull shame as a Major not to be counted as a NAF Ranked Tourney (Strictly speaking of 'K' Value I mean.)

I don't know how I could help you out, I'm not a mod, admin, or even an NTO. I didn't run the tourney either, so I'm not sure why you asked me to help you.

ToppyT runs the tourney so you might want to contact him (try the AbBBA website).
