Take this as it is.... but I personally feel you should maintain Leviathan as it has been. Leviathan has been a league tournament. It could be worth keeping that. Cancon and Moab are tr100 league tourneys while leviathan has traditionally been a tr 125 league tournament. I think if you ran it as a league it would be a good way of highlighting the benefits of lrb 5.0 to league play, and would keep leviathan distinctly its own style, I meant to email you with my thoughts sorry ive been a bit busy. Sorry to rain on the parade a bit, but IMHO it ends up being a euc clone somewhat, you should try and keep its own flavour if you can.

Given that almost all European tournaments are TR100 or TR110 resurrection styles I don't think you need to worry too much about the similarities in rule sets. If anything I think you may find that a lot of coaches like similar rule sets so they can use the experience from one tournament in another.

I'm understand that MOAB & CanCon will remain league style and if they adopt LRB5 it will be interesting for people to get the hang of the league differences there - whilst at Euc/Leviathan they can learn some of the new skills & rosters.

Rabid, I thank you for the thoughts. One of the reasons it is to be Resurrection is that I am unsure of all the new rules/skills myself, and with April not far off, I wanted it to be as easy as possible for players. Also, if this is a success, I'll be running Leviathan for many more years and I wont let it be a clone of Euc.
As Doubleskulls said, MOAB and Cancon are already league style, so making Leviathan league would be more of a clone to them than resurrection would be to Euc.

Appreciate the feedback but am going to stick with it as is.

Also, side note.

The website and entry forms are now up, email me as well when you pay, so I can keep track of numbers. Cheers all.

I am in!

And I too am in favour of the league play as opposed to resurrection...

But given I am not like a prominent forum poster and LRB4 advocate, I won't be chunking (sic) it in Razz

See you in April...

.... NOW, where's that Deathroller mini I won!

Feel free to knock off the stirring Clay, I don't think anyone particularly wants to hear any more on that topic.

big guys 'are' allowed doubles?
tribalsinner - Feb 17, 2007 - 04:09 AM
Post subject:
yes they 'is'

Interesting. I'd love a copy of the house rules document when it's in draft form.

Sounds like big guys may be a must then...

All rules and conditions are located on the Leviathan website as I posted above. It allows big guys to go nuts, but allows other teams to gain skills/inducements to counter the big guys

Babs, with big guys being higher -priced and having reliability skills available without doubles now I don't think allowing them doubles will make a whole lot of difference. The increased price has really made them luxury items now.

I would probably take someone with Block/Dauntless over a Big Guy at this stage, better bang for your buck.

I won't be making this tournament either - work is sending me to the US in April. So good luck everyone going and I guess I'll just have to wait until Eucbowl to catch up with everyone after also not making Cancon.

Hey guys, it's getting closer and still many have said they're coming but have yet to pay. Try to get those payments and entry forms in as soon as possible. The more that pay early, the more prizes I can get.

Hey guys, just a reminder that Leviathan is drawing near.
If you are planning on coming and as yet haven't paid, let me know so I can try to finalise some numbers. Also let your friends know and lets try to drum up some more numbers to make it big and bloody!

Vimes is pulling out for financial reasons. I will therefore give prizes to Sangraal as well as NAF dice for renewals (I will see him at the Russell Drysdale 7's).

Thanks Babs, I've been meaning to call you but been to hectic at work, been getting home too late to call at a reasonable hour. At the moment I have 12 paid coaches and should have around 20 coming from names people have given me. Are the boys from your way coming still? Shasta etc?
Babs - Apr 01, 2007 - 11:19 PM
Post subject:
I am thinking so - but don't presume to speak for them. Last I heard some of the boys were definately planning on coming.

Have you lined up some independant judges from some of the other systems to judge the painting... I thought that was the most professional part of Leviathan last year
tribalsinner - Apr 03, 2007 - 12:22 AM
Post subject:
Yeah, most likely Andrew again, he is an awesome painter after all
Virral - Apr 03, 2007 - 10:46 PM

If only he had a single other redeeming quality...
Babs - Apr 04, 2007 - 06:51 PM
Post subject:
Hey! That is a little unfair. Andrew has just had a really bad string of bad luck (dice wise). Some other redeeming qualities include:
*Organised and ran the Blacktown Blood Bowl league for about 4 years
* Brought about 12 people I know into Blood Bowl
* Generous with miniatures (donated some to me! Smile )
* Fanatical about Blood Bowl

Maybe you don't all get along with his personality. But personally I don't mind him at all and prefer him at tournaments than not. There are many of us with quirky personalities (The trouts & GardenGnome spring to mind) but that's us - innit. Let he who is the perfect man cast the first stone and all that. It certainly ain't me.
Rabid_Bogscum - Apr 04, 2007 - 11:35 PM
Post subject:
Well you asked for perfect and here I am !!! Stones lobbing now. Is that a gross use of the word Quirky...for the Trouts... I cant wait for Clay to weigh into this one.

Post subject:
I have fun playing against Andrew and I hoped he would play BB at Leviathan but he is going to be playing Flames of War. So everyone play nice and come to Leviathan, we are gaining some momentum and looking to be a fair bit bigger than last year so it should be an awesome few days

Give the Old Man Trout some love...

Give him a hug Smile

Are we not all quirky anyway... I'd rather be quirky than called a Nerd...
