North America - Deathbowl set-up

Does anyone have a picture of Brian's Deathbowl board?

I'm trying to figure out a good way to do 4 way Blood Bowl and I wondered if Brian did one 15 row board intersect by a 14 or 16 square board. or completely did a design from scratch with 14 or 16 row board intersecting in both directions.

Any help on this is appreciated. Thanks.

If this does not get answered before I get home tonight, then I will look for you. I have one built at home, but cannot recall it's dimensions off hand.

Endzone to Endzone its 26 squares & each endzone is 14 squares wide.

Thanks Rod.

That is the design from the BB Compendium #3 article ... so knowing that is helpful. Much appreicated.

I'll work up the design specs now for our felt guy based on this ... thanks again.

Rob ... anyone ... two more questions please.

Okay so this is the correct layout ... got that:
http://www.blood-bowl.net/BBMagArticles/Deathbowl.html

Where do the teams set up? In the sections sticking out? IE the article mentions setting up behind the thick black lines but the guy who coded this for my site failed to put them in. I assuming that this has to be the case ... but would like to confirm.

Also ... I'm assuming correctly that there are no wide zones in this board set up correct? (I'm guessing not as you all set up away from the middle.

There are normal wide zones at least at deathbowl IV there were.
So most people put their team in a defensive shell in the middle section.

You setup anywhere in "your" part of the board, i.e. in the "arms" of the cross. The Vlack parts on the outside are not accessible (that's where your dugouts are), but the black part in the middle is accessible, this is where the ball(s) is.

oh, hang about. I think we got confused in the deathbowl stadium, as there are markers on the 'field' which seem to indicate lines which we used to mean there were wide zones, but it appears to not be the case.

These are the rules that Brian used (you need to scroll down a bit to get at the deathbowl section.

That link was just what I needed ... perfect. now I have what I was looking for:

So 14 x 26 in two directions with LOS at the outsticking parts and no Wide zones ... got it.

A marker around the center 4 squares as well would be good to show where the ball randomly goes.

I think that covers everything I need to know.

[EDIT]Comment Removed after realising I am an idiot :-รพ [/EDIT]. Also, everytime I have played DB we always used the wide zones. Is there any reason not to use them?

Yes, there are wide zone markers, 4 squares wide. The usual set-up rules apply. This keeps you from completely massing to swamp the player on your left when you move, or completlely blocking out the player on your right from moving in. This will also be a factor as usual for Blitz or Quick Snap rolls on Kick-Off.

The way Brian had drawn up the board (at least in the tourney book, and I think on the fields) the wide zone markers extend four squares past the LOS, and then cut in diagonally at a 45 degree angle for two squares, and connect to a box around the 4 center squares. This gives a nice look.

Cheers,
Maureen

So based on that ... something that looked like this would be the way to go?

The boards that Brian made did not have the widezones extended past the LOS
I was at Glenn's today and I checked

I remember seeing the wide zones setup thatway as well. I think it was just the DB Stadium.

Oops, right there's no kick off table.

Wide Zone markers beyond the LOS are only for aesthetics if desired. I like Galak's interpretation. I gave that a quick and dirty edit to show the one that Brian had in the Tourney Rule book:

Understood ... I'm not sure the lines extending and connecting matter. Brian's design doesn't even have widezones but many folks are asking for those lines ... so a bit of design to pull it together should be fine. However ... if I do that ... I'll probably go with the image I posted as I like that better than the lines X'ing into the middle.

Its pretty easy to ignore the extra lines on the pitch to have a fully functional mat.

I'll put it on the list to be worked on.

I like the way the design looks.
I also agree that people can use the lines to mean whatever they want depending on what precise rules they choose to use.

Thanks Rod those pics were very helpful.

So basically he brought in the wide zones and did a 90 degree bend. I like the diagonal a bit better ... give the board a nice pattern ... especially since the lines past the 4 LOS are really just decoration.

Also I'll be working on Elfball rules to go with this pitch design and since you cannot pass over white lines in Elfball ... having the diagonals will be better for that as well.

But those pictures really help ... took the design I posted on page 1 now and sent it off to the felt guy.

Thanks everyone for the input ... very much appreciated.
