Hi all,

this one's for Galak Smile

our league just voted for modifying the ruling on "Take Root" from the current one to the one on the October 2003 rules review.

http://www.blood-bowl.net/BBRC_HotList2003.html

that I hereby repeat for clarity:

"Before taking an action with a player with this characteristic that is neither prone or stunned, roll a D6. On a 2+, he is fine and may continue his action as normal. On a 1, he takes root into the pitch and loses his action for this turn. For the rest of the drive, no actions may be taken with this player. In addition, he loses his Tackle Zone for the rest of the drive."

While discussing this ruling, one point seemed to be missing.
What if the rooted treeman is blocked??

Shouldn't it uproot itself and begin playing again, or, at least, be allowed to re-test to shake himself out of torpor...

I already see axe wileding orcs begin to chop down nice trees Twisted Evil

Cheers

For simplicity, he's just down for the rest of the drive.

We used to say that being knocked down cancelled the effect, but decided to keep it simple. Simple means that it has a significantly better chance of the BBRC considering it. Lots of words are bad things when trying to get a rule official.

So he's free game to knock down if he fails. He lost in thought so deeply that he won't notice he fell down until the drive is done and all the Flings or Elves gather around and get his attention back to the here and now.

Or as Sundancer said ... he's up for grabs as Firewood if he fails the roll. I've found from playing Flings that the best way to prevent this is to have one player stand next to a Treeman in an oridinal direction (ie N, S, E, or W). This means that at most any foul by a player will be at +3 without DP and the only way to get a single dice block would be with an ST 4+ player.
