Strategy and Tactics - Which is better? FF or coaching staff?

I know that there are people out there who are far more adept at these mathematical calculations than I , so I appeal to any who may be willing to help out on this one.

Supposing that you are making a tourney team and only have 20K left to spend. Is it better to go for the 2 FF, or to buy an assistant coach and a cheerleader?
Which one is mathematically more likely to benefit you?

Coach & cheerleader.

2 FF will only get you +2 to a 2-12 roll.

Coach & cheerleader will get you +1 to a D3 roll.

Way better bang for your buck.

Now if you want to start spending 70k on FF...

Yeah, but with the +2 FF you have that much more of an edge to get +1 FAME, and with that, then how many results use FAME on the kick off table?

One CL & One AC are the best combo. I did some stats to try and prove it.

Ok, with the 2FF, your worst roll is 4, your best roll is 14. 2ff does not guarantee anything. Your odds of gaining the +1 Fame are improved a little bit, but not to the extent that the +1 from the Coach or the +1 from the Cheerleader grant you.

Leave the FF roll to Nuffle. If you buy the 2 FF, you'll only go up against coaches with 2 or more FF, and you'll wish you had the coaches and cheerleaders.

Well overall the CL and AC won out, mostly because I had some cool ideas for th emodels to help me get a leg up on the Best Team award!

But thanks for the mathemaitcal input - that is always good to know too! (In case I ever take winning more seriously!)

FOr 20k the best options are, roughly speaking

      Code:

FF AC   CL   Wins
0   1   1   11.60%
1   0   1   10.50%
1   1   0   10.40%
0   2   0   10.40%
0   0   2   10.30%
2   0   0   9.30%

Thankfully I'm not really. I'm a computer nerd - so I just wrote a program to do kick offs with varying FF, AC & CL and then got it to run tens of thousands of times. Its a lot easier on my poor little brain.

Seeing as CL are only of use for the Cheering Fans result, and AC are only of any use for the Brilliant Coaching result, and seeing as both those KO results use the same forumla (D3 + FAME + AC/CL), shouldn't their percentages be the same?

At first, I thought perhaps there were more chances to roll Cheering Fans than Brilliant Coaching - but there are 5 chances to roll each. So I'm a little confused about the results as well...

It must be something to do with the results being obtained by a program running thousands of tests, versus straight mathmatics. The results are pretty close.

But you donĀ“t have the money aspect in this or the chance of getting +2 to (or opponent gets it) to fame in there Wink

tomros - exactly right. The % are slightly differnet because of the random nature of the tests.

Topper - it does account for +2 to fame for more than double from FF, but money is ignored because its only being considered from a tournament perspective. where money doesn't matter.

Also it only shows the relative advantage of having 1 or 2 more than your opponent - rather than an absolute position of having X.
