Strategy and Tactics - Skills for an Ogre?

Post subject: Skills for an Ogre?
My Ogre finally got some SSPs and received a whopping two skill rolls! One roll was 10 (non-doubles) = +1 MA (or normal skill) and the other was a 4 (on doubles).

What skills would be suggested for this guy? He plays on a (ahem) dwarf team.

I was think converting the +1 MA to the Block skill (since he is always failing blocks due to not having the skill), but I am at a loss for the doubles roll. Dodge comes to mind...

Save the Leader for a dwarf. Go with Block and Stand Firm. Your 3rd skill can be Break Tackle, and you're a very good cage breaker.

XOX X=Player
OBO O=Empty Space
XOX B=Ballcarrier

If you have Break Tackle and Stand Firm, you can attempt a hard blitz into any of the O squares at a 4+. Even if you don't make it, you can stand firm and hit one of the X "post" players. This will give you a 5 Str. Stand Firm tackle zone on the ballcarrier. Not too shabby...

Yeah, I like the Standfirm idea more and more...maybe he can get Break Tackle as his 3rd skill. I have to go with Block for one of the skills...this guy keeps killing me with the skull/skull-block two-dice results.

But Dodge and Block on a BG is just suprising to most opponents...making it a mental psy-ops game...

Pro. Very handy for those failed boneheads.

Just a clarification... Stand Firm will give you the fail safe dodge, but if you do fail it, the action with the Stand Firm player is over. You would be unable to throw the block at the cage escorts in the above example. You just stay in place. Not a turnover, but the Ogre would be done.

If you fail the dodge, your action ends. You will have wasted your blitz, and you will be unable to hit player X. From the LRB, page 37:

"His action ends and he may do nothing else that turn."

If you don't think you can make the dodge, forget player B and attack player X instead. You'll likely shove him away and get your Ogre atop the player B anyway.

Well, that's what I get for not reading the whole skill, I guess. I'd still take a 50/50 roll with no chance of a turnover, especially if I had a leader.

I'd definitely drop the MA for Block, that Big Guy needs it like halflings need a snack !

For the double roll, I'd go with Stand Firm, aiming for Break Tackle as your 3rd skill. That makes a helluva blitzer !
