I am going to see if I can swing getting to this tourney.

There is a business trip I can pick up to NYC that week. But getting to Harrisburg for the tourney is going to prove the mystery! Will work on logistics, but would love to come out there and play.

UPDATE: Well looks like I am able to switch trips. I will go to NYC May 5th-9th. Now just to handle the logistics from NYC to Harrisburg. Is the tourney actually in Harrisburg? Or outside?

Looking forward to making the tourney.

It is actually located in a suburb of Harrisburg.
It just a hop, skip and a jump away from the highway.
Very easy to find...

Plus it is accessible by train

Who wouldn't want to promote this kind of fun? Smile

Jamie...assuming that was a jab at me...may I wear a badge of office at the tourney?

I am thinking... oh lord... renting a car in NYC and driving to the tourney. Its only about 2hrs away theoretically, with traffic and whatnot... maybe more like 6. Smile

Post subject:
RobO: Not only may you wear a badge, I might INSIST you wear a badge.

Schawn: NYC is 3-4 hours from Harrisburg, depending on traffic.... my wife and I do day trips pretty regularly. That said, I can understand why you'd pass on the fun of all that commuting!

Well I guess my main concern is transportation. I could take the train to Harrisburg no problem. But getting to the tourney would prove to be a little chore. Anyone wanna pick me up at the train station? Pick me up in the morning for the tourney and drop me back at the hotel? Smile

Post subject:
I'm pretty sure someone could taxi you back and forth.

Sure, I dont see why not. I know I would if you need a ride.
Morpheous - Jan 31, 2008 - 05:50 AM
Post subject:
Sweet. Thanks Jkarr. I will work on the logistics of the train ride from NYC then Back to Philly to fly out. When it gets a little closer we can work out details. Right now I will just make sure all the getting there stuff is taken care of.

Any suggestion on hotel/motel that is close to venue? Not overly picky as long as they have an internet connection and smoking Smile

There are a number of very cheap hotels very near by. They re pretty much all located on Eisenhower Blvd. So if you do a Hotels.com/Expedia search look for that.

There s a Super 8, a Harrisburg Travelodge, Days Inn and Red Roof Inn among others. Many should be in the $50 range.

Things look good for a nice turnout, which is great.

I put the order in for prize shirts last week, should have 'em soon... I've gotten some fantastic support from Impact!, Xtreme, NAF, and Chessex.... now if I could just get someone at GW to answer an email!

I will try to have the webpage updated soon (assuming the big square headed no neck jacka$$ web guy can fit it into his schedule) with prize pics

We will have players of all levels there, from newbies to seasoned coaches, and nearly all of the local coaches are more than happy to help out new players.

It's also a one day charity tournament, so it should be a little 'lighter' than a 2 day serious tourney.

We'd love to have you, so get yer butt to the website and sign up! Mr. Green

I just signed up, and i NEVER played a game of BB in my life. this event will be my trial by fire. can i get some help making up a team?

ive been modeling orcs from warhammer plastics over the past few days and made the following:

1 troll
4 blitzers
4 blackorcs
4 goblins
2 throwers

im working on linemen right now, but i would like some help on figuring out that to make, anyone want to take some time and help a noob out.

thanks
ForceCommander - Apr 06, 2008 - 07:13 AM
Post subject:
The nice thing about orcs is that you can start with a lot of your skilled positional players, and you dont need may lineman. Check out this thread for suggested team rosters:

that link makes me login to the site. ive tried registering with them but i never got an email back. do i start off with skills? i was toying around with the orc team and came up with this:

1 thrower
3 linemen
2 goblin
3 blitzers
2 black orcs
1 troll

3 rerolls

is this a good base to go off of?

It now looks as if I will not be able to make it. Car troubles have totally destroyed the budget and any means of further justification are not working.

Let me be the 1st on the NAF site to say about the Tournament.

I had a blast! 0-2-1... For a cause that was worth every minute of the event and worth every penny I paid to be in attendance..

I played Ogres with Snotlings. They were fun as hell to play with... Especially throwing Snotlings down the pitch and they make their landing roll and do the 'One Turn Score!" In 3 matches, I did it sucessfully 3 times. Matter of a fact, twice in a match against Zons. The coach wasn't very happy about it, even though he won the game 3-2 and I had 5 Snotties and 1 Ogre in the CAS Bin and 2 Snotties in the KO Bin. I enjoyed playing Ogres in the tournie, but not sure how they would fare in a League...

1st game was against: KarlLagerbottom
Tied 1-1... Against his beautifully painted and converted C Dwarfs. RobO is always a great game to play against. He had the CAS bin very full of Snotties and a Ogre, 7 total combine.

2nd was against:
Loss, 4-2 A local coach playing Woodies... Damn they can move the ball, no need to get in to detail of that...

3rd was the Zons.
Loss, 3-2...

Prize Support was awesome! I won in the raffle - 2 Impact C. Dwarfs, the Zlurpee Zombling with the cool cool Zlurpee drink in hand and a Black 4 Diamond Cup Tee Shirt.

I hope to play this match for this Cause again next year!!
Jamie put on a Great event!!!

This was an AWESOME Tourney for a great cause. Lots of prize support, raffles, and some of the best games of bloodbowl I have played.

The Mafia guys were awesome hosts. Really got a chance to get to know them a little better which was great!

Thanks again ForceCommander for running it. Thanks again to the Mafia for showing me great hospitality. Special thanks to Bampf for the place to crash.

Big thanks to RobO and Schawn for coming from out of state to support the cause!
