Do you guys think it is worth it to diversify a Chaos All Star team by giving passing skills to a designated beastman, catching skills to another that will serve as the catcher, and blitzing and blocking to others.
Is it better for the team to just concentrate on annihilating other teams?

Assuming that a Chaos All-Stars team is the same as a regular Chaos team, then I would definitely consider making specialist players, but the beautiful thing about chaos teams is that a lot of these things can be achieved through mutations.

The first two beastman who gains a skill should get Extra Arms, as this will not only allow you to pick up the ball on a 2+ (assuming no TZs), but also open up a bit of a passing game for you. Other players can get mutations like claws to allow them to do what Chaos teams are known for - annihilating other teams! Twisted Evil

Variety is the spice of life. I find Chaos does well when it has can pull off an option play when in need. Sometimes your cage gets stalled and you need to end-around to do something else. Players capable of a little scrambling are awesome for forcing the ball to turn over.

What do you mean by an option play?

As a minimum you need one or two excellent Runners.

2 Beastmen each with Sure Hands, Kick-off Return and Extra Arms is a potent pair on offence (your first cage should form near the line of scrimmage). Sure Feet/Sprint on doubles for these guys may appeal.

Whether you need to develop specific Catchers (Extra Arms, Pro) and/or a Thrower (some of the above plus Strong Arm, Pro) I am not sure. Seems rather luxurious to me - I'd prefer to develop the Slaughterers. Cheaper too - you need to worry less about doubles rolls.

Hope this helps.

I forgot to add that you need to consider the option of one or two Chaos Warriors as Runners (say Sure Hands, Kick-off Return, Extra Arms, Block, Fend,Foul Appearance). In this way you can create the most difficult cage to sack (while you carry on with the normal Chaos slaughter).

Hope this helps.

A Chaos Warrior as a runner? Now talk about unusual.
The league will kick off tonight. I'll keep all of you informed as to the progress of the Hacksonville Pestilence ( they worship Nurgle)

Usually you're going to cage up and smash your way downfield. An "option" play in American Football is a bashy running play where the quarterback can turn it into a short yardage passing play. It is bashy on the line with one or more potential recievers, the usual play is to drive up the middle but there is the threat of a pass which cannot be ignored. If the defense ignores the recievers, throw. If the recievers are covered, then bash.

Simply put, I suggest that you develop a couple of ballhandlers who can handle a little bit of a passing game, whether by skill or mutation. Then your opponents have to cover them in addition to screening your cage and holding off your bashy offense.

Those same players become essential as retrievers and ballgrabbers when your opponent errs.

While slower than Beastmen Warriors are Str 4 all the time so it makes it a lot harder for opponents to knock down the ball carrier, especially when they are caged.

Two Beastmen with Extra Arms can acts as Catchers giving you a threat of being able to throw a quick/short pass for them to score.

I like the idea of having a Chaos Warrior as a runner, especially when you have the threat to make a pass to some beastmen catchers.
I think that I will test some of the ideas here on my chaos team on a league I'm playing. Just played two games so I can still develop the team the way I want. Right now I have a beastmen with +ag and one beastmen with block.
Extra arm to the beastmen with +ag and I will have a really good thrower.

I think extra arms is a bit of a waste as he is already picking up and catching on a 2+ most of the time. The only time when he will need the help is in pouring rain or for an interception, both of which are not frequent enough to make the mutation worthwhile.

I would suggest Big Hand for this guy as he will always pick up on a 2+ regardless of TZs. With AG4 he is already a great thrower, and can rack up some more SPPs. If you are lucky enough to roll a double on this guy you can give him Leap, with the next skill Very Long Legs. If you manage this, you will give your opponents nightmares! Leap on a 2+, pick up on a 2+ and then use his AG4 to dodge away! Brilliant!

yeah, you right. I always a bit confused about extra arms and thinks that it gives +1 on throws too when it doesn't.

like the idea about big hand/leap. if I roll a double then... maybe give him nerves of steel to by able to pass the ball. but that requires two doubles.

I find that I cannot count on rolling Doubles. Statistically, they should show up eventually. For me, they don't.

You should never count on rolling doublesm it is just nice when they do!

It would be really nice if the showed up more often for me. Maybe as often as statistically average.
