Rules Questions - Blood Lust questions SBG - Jan 07, 2009 - 11:19 PM Post subject: Blood Lust questions
OK guys, two other Vampire questions for you (I did search, but couldn't find any answers pertinent to LRB 5.5):
Vampire announces an action, let's say a blitz. Rolls a 1. No thralls within reach (ie: 6 squares). What does he do?
a ) Move to the blitzed player but taken out the pitch just before the block;
b ) Taken out right away since he can't bite anybody.
Same question, but let's say there's a thrall 7 or 8 squares away. Does he need to absolutely GFI to reach them?
Second question:
(Still a 1 on BL roll). A pass is announced. There's a thrall on the way. The vampire can go take a munch then move whatever squares he has left before passing?
It's the first time we got Vamps around and I have a hard time understanding clearly what BL is. Sorry!

The definition of Blood Lust says
"...at the end of the declared action, but before actually passing, handing off, or scoring..."
So question 1 results in, the vampire carries out his Blitz Action (ie move, block, move) then leaves the pitch because he can't bite any thrall.
For question 2, the rules don't state the vampire must make every possible effort to bite a thrall. You can choose to GFI so that the vamp can stay on the pitch and not cause a turnover, but it's not required.
And just a bit of advice (from someone who admittedly has never played vamps): if you leave your vamps far enough from your thralls that either of these questions come up in a game you deserve what you get.Doubleskulls - Jan 08, 2009 - 03:47 AM Post subject: RE: Blood Lust questions
I agree Sumbloke for #1.
On #2 the answer is no. Sucking the thrall occurs at the point you pass - "If the Vampire finishes moving or attempts to pass/hand-off the ball and is standing adjacent to one or more standing, Prone or Stunned Thralls from his own team, he attacks one of them..."
So you have to pass whilst adjacent to a thrall.
TBH I didn't really think about that when writing the rule but I'm happy enough that the pass action is compromised a little by that.SumBloke - Jan 08, 2009 - 04:58 PM Post subject: RE: Blood Lust questions
Whoops, my "question 2" answer was for part 2 of question 1Doubleskulls - Jan 09, 2009 - 02:49 AM Post subject: RE: Blood Lust questions
Oh - and on 1b do you have to GFI - absolutely not. There is no requirement to do anything as part of a Blood Lust action at all. Not sucking a thrall and leaving the pitch is a perfectly legal and intended move.GalakStarscraper - Jan 11, 2009 - 06:21 PM Post subject: RE: Blood Lust questions
Fully agree with Ian's answers.
