Rules Questions - Injured players

Maybe it has been discused before, but I cannot find where.

If a player increases its value when he gains new skills, why the value doesn't decrease when he suffers a permanent injury?

I have played three games in a league with humans. At this moment, one of the blitzers has -1 ST, and one of the catchers -1 AV, and their value in game terms has obviously been reduced a lot!

It seems unfair (maybe because they are my players Smile ) that they count the same in TV terms as healthy players.

It's encouragement to retire them.

Yes, it's encouragement to retire them. And it forces nasty decisions if the player is already skilled.

Although sometimes I feel that you should be allowed (say) a maximum of 10,000 gold pieces reduction for permanently injured players, it will cause distortion. You would get an "improved" player (because cheaper) if the stat reduction is in a characteristic he rarely uses.

For example: a 5th Edition Skellie with -1AG (i.e. 5317 Regen) would cost just 20,000 - a bargain. Second (extreme) example, a Human lineman with -2MA and -2AG (4318). If you allowed a 10,000 cost reduction for each stat loss, this guy would cost just 10,000 gold pieces - a bargain if all you do is put him on the line of scrimmage in defense.

Hope this helps.

Yep - its to encourage you to fire them. There aren't too many players to -ST isn't a sackable offence. However -AG on players who don't handle the ball or dodge much (e.g. black orcs) isn't worth sacking them for.

-Av is pretty much self retiring in the long run Smile

Thank you. Now I just hope they don't get the MVP to retire them Smile ...

It's hard losing two positional players this way. I should also fire the apothecary for incompetence Confused

I find that firing the dice and replacing them with new dice does wonders. Especially when you line the new dice up and force them to watch while you smash the old dice with a hammer. Or sell them on eBay. Your choice. This happens to be why I'll never buy someone's old NAF dice off of eBay.
