Europe - European Tournament for teams

Post subject: European Tournament for teams
More info:

http://www.talkbloodbowl.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6383

In short: we are considering a tournament to determine the best European BB nations. The idea is that a team of, for instance, 8 coaches comes from each nation taking part, and that those coaches play matches against coaches from other nations. The winning nation will be the nation whose team collects the most points etc.

If you are interested in taking part in this tournament, get onto TBB (follow link) and let us know.

The first step we will take (Lucy and me, mostly) is to find out how many nations could actually show up with a team (empty spots can always be filled with Dutchies). Therefore we need to have contact with dedicated "Team Captains" who are willing to get a team of enthusiasts ready. It is easiest if you contact us through Talkbloodbowl, so that we have everything in one place.

A good location for the tournament is known in Amsterdam, and november is considered to be the right month for the event. Right now, we are already in contact with German and Belgian people. (and french too I think, and Brits of course) We do not (yet) have contact with spanish or italian coaches (a combined italian-spanish team, for instance, is a possibility) and neither with scandinavians/fins.

Cheers,

Redfang

PS Squiggoth, you can contact us with whatever bullshit you have to report through here Very Happy

So, a thread on TBB... How nice. Can't you just copy and paste everything to this site or kick TBB's webmaster's butt to repair his site or something like that?
By the way, you should think of the country you'd like to see losing and put me in there as a spare dutchie player (empty spots can always be filled with Worst Playing Dutchies Twisted Evil )

We had long ago figured that out ourselves.

The reason we put it on TBB is that there we can organise and post stuff without all you spam. Here we can just ignore you Very Happy

Sounds good, but how will you decide who gets to play if more than 8 people from one country want to join up?

Top eight from a one off NAF sanctioned tournament, overall player rankings, who's got the most money?
Indigo - May 22, 2003 - 08:46 AM
Post subject:
perhaps there could be national heats to determine the best players, subdivided into regional level heats?

I'll volunteer for running some East Anglian heats, and I know I could get a fairly significant number of people interested from just the Cambridge store alone, never mind the big ones in norwich and ipswich.

this is sounding like a better idea by the minute
Mordredd - May 22, 2003 - 08:53 AM
Post subject:
How about a big national heat where the prize for the top eight is tickets, transport etc. to the European cup? It would, to a certain extent, remove money from the deciding factors.
Indigo - May 22, 2003 - 09:01 AM
Post subject:
that would be the ideal situation, but where is the cash going to come from, apart from possibly entrance fees? I think it's worth looking into but sadly I doubt it will happen in real life...

Absolutely not! Shocked

Everybody knows that Italians do it better [you can change "it" with every type of sport/game/activity (expecially sexual ones Razz)], so it won't be useful for us to be "mixed" RazzRazzRazz

Personally, I'm interested: it would be wonderful... I'll talk with my girlfriend [she uses Orcs...] and some friends of mine... MicioGrasso [aka GattoLardo RazzRazzRazz], would you be one of us? Moonsong will be interested? Emilio and the other Italian guy?

We're 5 Italians here, it's not impossible to find 8 different-race teams interested in a trip in Holland Very Happy

Let's start talking about it!

Well it sounds like it is a good idea all round. So what about a new section to this website with a map of your country with little marks (stars / asterix / or whatever) in the main areas where there are NAF members.

Now do not panic, no personal info would be given away. But it would mean that you could launch a number of new 'rooms' (lack of a better term I'm afraid, computers are a bit new to me still). These rooms would be so 'local NAF members' could e-mail each other, agree a place of meeting - a local GW would be ideal if there is one - and take it from there.

Like a room / area here called ITALIAN COACHES: and then a map of Italy with an asterix or star to mark every NAF member and roughly where in the country they are, no address just a rough area like: OLLEGGIO, BORGOFORTE (MANTOVA) etc....

It may come to nothing, but I know that if I knew there were 15 other offical NAF'ers within travel distance I would do my level best to play one offs and I would be very interested in a league....

Just an idea of how we could use this wonderfull resource (the website) to further Bloodbowl gaming Smile

Post subject:
(I'm in Worcester in the Midlands by the way, any local coaches feel free to messege me here at the NAF as I'd love to know how many 'locals' from the 'shire we have....)
dwarfcoach - May 22, 2003 - 02:24 PM
Post subject:
.... Oh yeah, so why was all this typed here???

It would give every coach a great idea of how many peeps are in your country, and if alot how many are local. I would be more than happy to get involved in 'regionals' and it would be a great organising point for future events and to encourage the sceptical that it is another good reason to join up with the NAF!!! About determining who plays: I think the best thing to do for organising something like this is to find a contact person/team captain in each country willing to take part. This "team captain" can then determine in any way he sees fit who plays for his team/country.

You see Squigg, that's the beauty of my plan...

I have analysed your behaviour patterns and I observed that you only post after somebody else posted, but do so almost always. I thus figured out that if nobody would post on this thread, you would not spam it either. That way, it would be kept clean. Occasionally I could then post something here, so that you could react, and would be kept satisfied, while I wouldn't loose so much precious time getting over here all the time just to find out that half of the posting done is Squigg-spam, and the other half a reaction to that...

I do think that you have to organise it yourself. Too many people have different wishes (how long they'll stay, where they want to sleep). It would mean that one person has to get all other people together and ask them what they want.
I guess every country should try to organise it for their country. Amsterdam is quite small, so if you can organise to sleep reasonably cheap in the centre, you're immediately very close to the BB playing location.

Tje location is the same as for the Dutch Open:

Normal LRB

You'll be hurried up when the match takes too long

1 point per win, 1/2 per draw, 0 per loss

each team (of coaches) will probably be restricted to fielding a maximum of one team of each race (to keep te tournament diverse and interesting)

No wizards, no starplayers, no freebooting of anything else

Etc.

But nothing is fully decided yet; we'll wait with that until we're sure the tournament will be played...

Any news for the tournement? here in Italy we'll trying to organize a national team !!!
Lucy - Jul 16, 2003 - 04:49 AM
Post subject:
Location is secured.
Date is 1-2 november in Amsterdam.
In the beginning of August, all teamcaptains may vote for 100 or 110 TR.
Every country may have each race once (not just one race as someone thought)
If there's a new rule set in octobre (by the BBRC), that one will be used for the tourney. New teams which become official, may be taken as well.
Even if Necro is out, it will be legal for the tourney.
Countries will face eachother randomly, until the last round when the best countries face eachother (unless they already faced eachother). Best players from each country will play eachother.
Chess system used for scoring. So 1 point for a win, 1/2 point for a draw, 0 points for a loss. A country can also score 8 points each round.....

Rules questions from the Team Italia Mailing List:

talking about miniatures rules,

is it necessary to have all GW miniatures?

is it necessary to have miniatures also to represent all the staff people, like aphotecary, cheerleaders, Coach, Assistent coaches...?

Does all the miniatures have to be painted?

Is going to be held the painting competition? Does the painting of the team count for the total points a team gets?

No, but it would be nice!

Again no, but again it would be preferable!

      Aramil wrote:

If enough prizes are accumalated, then there will be a painting prize. But painting (and sportmanship for that matter) will not effect the overall ranking.

All rooms have a CD player. Teamcaptains can bring a CD representing there team. Unless it's utterly awfull it will be played sometime(s) during the tourney.

If you need to save then you'll be missing out on all the other European tournies. Just make sure you stash some money away from the missus and lie through your teeth. Tell her you're going to play in skegness or somewhere equally unapealing.
A weekend in the Dam can be done on £250 easy including flight, hotel, food, beer and drugs. France has cheeper accomodation and is a must go event too. For a lot of you it's probably harder to find the time off work than the funds. Late flights on friday and returns on mondays mean only one day off. Book your flights early and they'll only cost £60. Airport parking can also work out cheaper and easier than trains.

Maybe Deathwing and I will start a Bloodbowl International Travel agency to organise everything. Charge a slight commision of course, we operate best with beer in our bellies.

NP .... Norse actually got my vote as well. I think it were mainly the Lava Troll and the Coaches who did the job for me Smile

Interesting.. all these people "say" they voted for me, yet Lucy assures me I got no votes at all... Sad

I demand a re-count! Wink

Don't worry, next year I'll be bigger better and badder than ever! Instead of going into decline I'm going to come back fighting! Twisted Evil

Griff, I almost stole your Chaos Dwarf idea, but decided on something else.. good luck with those figs though, they look stunning already and they are not even painted yet!! Cool

Colour is a personal thing..

I probably use too much blue and purple, though my first thought would be blue and purple Confused Laughing

Black and red might look chaotic but at the same time cool as well!

Color is a matter of taste.

Black, Scab Red, Snakebite Leather and Bronze on the CDs plus a little Bubonic Brown and on the Hobgoblins prooved to be a winning ( Twisted Evil ) combination.

As long as they look dirty and mean, it's OK. I you don't like the CD hats, don'T paint the detail on the hats, by this they will move a bit out of eyesight. Don't use red for the scalemail, makes them look like strawberrys (with hats of course).

Now she likes it a lot, and she's improving very fast! Very Happy
She came to the Old World Cup with less than 20 BloodBowl matches played in her entire life.. e she did very well, in my opinion.
Now it's time for both of us [me and Margot] to try a different team, to learn a different style of play and improve our [dis]ability... We both ever played just a race [me dark elves, her orcs]...
I think that next year she will surely do a lot better! [at least I hope for the Italian Team Wink]

That's what you get when El Verde writes:
"El Verde-Kadu C 2-0 L" (L meaning loss)

When I have to do 100+ matches, I tend to get a little dizzy Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I didn't check the rest of the list, maybe there are other mistakes like that...

Cool.
I find my NAF password Wink

To bring the front of the classement, we have to play the same race for multiple tournaments, isn't it ?

Because i think there few French players on top of classement (3/26).
We have the number one. But we want more !

I come back with necromantics team for the next tournaments ! (I found necromantic figs on a table in Amsterdam Rolling Eyes )

"Just checked the records from Amsterdam. France2 was playing the whole tournament pretty average. The 5th round on the contrary was the final boost. 5 won 3 Draw."

Yes. Because at the first, we play only for fun. At the end, we are a little more "spirit of win"(this is a bad translation of french expression).

I'm sorry for my bad english. It's one of the reason i didn't speak a lot with non-french during the (because its my first) tournament.
I try to improved it. I promised it !
