Post subject: Q'ermitt Q'ancelled
The Challenge of Q'ermitt VII
May 14-15th, 2011

This is a quick blurb to let people know of the dates that I will be looking at for the tourney. I will be posting the full rules here later, but there will be no changes to the format that was held last year.

So that means:

*All teams will be created to a maximum value of 1,250,000.

*Teams must be created using the rules of the most current LRB (I.e. the C.R.A.P. rulebook)
*Players may not spend more than 150,000 on skills (see detailed rules under team creation)
*Goblin teams (not Underworld) may take bribes at a cost of 50K
*Halfling teams may take the Master Chef at a cost of
*Star players may be purchased during the team creation phase at the listed cost

It will be a League Style tournament
As a league style tournament all aspects of league play will be implemented, SPPs, cash, etc.

Team creation
Teams buying skills must follow these guidelines:
(0-16) players may only have one skill each*
Teams may buy a maximum of two attribute increases
Any Star Players purchased may not buy any additional skills at the point of team creation

Remeber also, that Star Players may be purchased at the time of team creation at their listed cost. They can be improved through accumulation of SPPs through tournament play but will have a pre-set number of SPPs that they begin with, depending on how many skills they would have already gained.

Any Star Players that begin with a team DO NOT have the Loner skill, as they have been playing with the team since their rookie days.

[b]There can only be one of any given Star Player, so the first coach to tell me (through PM) that they are wanting to buy a particular Star Player will be the only one who can purchase that Star. I will be updating this first post as time goes on to indicate whichStars are no longer available.

@natsirm - yeah, 1,170,000 that is what I meant. As for the chefs, not free, but I was contemplating their cost.

Thanks very much kikurasis for drawing my attention to this, as I have now seen my error. I think I was starting with the 1,170,000 last year, but then changed afterwards. I just kicked things off this year with a cut and paste remembeing that I wanted to run it the same way.

THE AMOUNT FOR THE TEAM CREATION FOR THE CHALLENGE OF Q'ERMITT VII WILL BE:

1,250,000

Please note the stipulations on the team creation that are included in the cicomprehensive rules section on the website. I will post them here as well to help ensure that people are aware.

Spazzfist - Feb 12, 2011 - 11:51 AM
Post subject:
These are important rules concerning team creation.

Basic TeamTeams may be made up to the full value of 1,250,000
with staff and players if the coach wishes. No more than 150,000 in skills may be purchased but the team during team creation. The base team includes any players (including pre-purchased star players), coaching staff, Fan Factor and re-rolls.

Inducementsmay not be bought as part of the starting team. The
exceptions are: goblin teams may purchase bribes and Halfling teams may purchase the Master Chef. Both teams may purchase these inducements as permanent parts of their team at the full listed costs.

Skills and Attribute IncreasesUp to 150,000 GC in skills and attribute increases may be purchased for the players during team creation. The cost for upgrading any one player will be as follows:

ï‚Ÿ 1st skill or increase: regular cost
ï‚Ÿ 2nd skill or increase: regular cost +10,000 g.p.
ï‚Ÿ 3rd skill or increase: regular cost +20,000 g.p.

This applies to any individual player. So, for example, several members of the team could get one skill each and therefore only the basic costs of the skills would be charged. It is only when one player receives more than one skill that the extra charges are applied. Should a coach want to buy more than three skills for any one player, then any further increases will be charged an extra 20,000 g.p. per skill.

Since it's league style, do casualties/SI/death remain, or do the teams resurrect each round?
Spazzfist - Feb 12, 2011 - 08:49 PM
Post subject:
There is no resurrection! That is part of what made is so interesting last year, because suddenly people were not so cavalier about making those 2dice opponent chooses blocks at the end of the game!

But there will, of course, be inducements available once the two teams figure their TVs before the game begins.

Heads up to anyone who is booking time off in advance. The tournament might be a wek later, but I will not know for certain until the Canadian Open. For now, I am going to operate on the idea that WILL BE ON THE 30TH OF APRIL, 1ST OF MAY.

I will post as soon as I know if the date changes.

If all my classes are held during the week, then my exams can be scheduled during the week. In the end, though it is tough on you Spazz, thank you for changing the weekend that the tourney will be on. This has made my day better than how it started off.

Not to attempt to sway your decission , I am good any weekend in April as is I think Joe Michaud, but Greg Shelton can go if on 16-17 weekend. He can never go the last weekend of any month due to work, he has to be there for month end.

He would like to attend your tourney, but if he can't make it he said sorry, although he said don't pick the date just for him, pick the date that works best for you.

Hey, that ain't smack talk... that's just a rational reaction to this past Saturday morning's logistical gong show! Maybe I'll see if I can get the food court at Square 1 to cordon off a bunch of tables as a back-up plan.

More than 12 in that basement? Cripes... If Clan_Skaven and DarkOrk20 show up again you'll either need to provide gas masks or change the name of the tournament to the Auschwitz Cup. One thing's for damn sure... I'll be adding this to my gear for the tournament:

I plan to have two cans rigged up with a gas mask so, at the push of a button, it sends Febreze directly into my nasal passages so that my olfactory senses aren't bludgeoned by gastric emissions that Amnesty International should be protesting as a crime against humanity.

CS's Sewer pitch rules need to be simplified somewhat. Pitch was awesome but seemed to be a lot of reading during the game which slows down the pace somewhat. Guess this would be the case with most new pitches being introduced. All the pitches that have been around for a few years are pretty clear though.

I would say that everything that is like the vanilla kick off events should be clearly pointed out (even if you change the name of, just cut on text and say "refer to normal xxx kick off event")

The other thing is to change number so they correspond to the actual kick offs (get the ref has changed since LRB5, same with quick snap, cheering fans, etc...).

otherwise, I don't recall anything dramatic (love the crocodile Smile )

I'm fine with it, just with time constraints per turn and having any newbie players may cause a little confusion with them. Like I said though, any new pitch could cause this initially until people are accustomed to the differences it brings. More so if people are just getting a grasp of the regular rules, or those that have never played on custom pitches prior best to keep it simple is all. Wink

So everyone is clear?? First I've heard of this...is this to be the more common trend starting? (5 games instead of the usual 6 game tournies) I know Eric started this last year for the Can. Open with 5 games, makes for an earlier Saturday and more socializing time but less gaming. I myself have mixed feelings about it but you may have several other reasons involved for changing it that I'm unaware.

I think the 5 games is a good thing, gives more time to enjoy the side events (and less time to enjoy your farts !)

And for the Smack-Talk, I have some ideas (not stolen from Eric), but you need to give me 2 weeks Wink

This was discussed at the end of the Q'ermitt last year. Especially with a league style format, there is more reasin to reduce the number of games doe to the bookeeping. That, and the fact that the Stunty Cup is to be run on the Saturday night, it means that more than any other tourney it is necessary to have a five game fomat.

Hey everyone.

I have been sitting on a piece of information for a couple of weeks, but did not want to say anything due to the fact that there has already been so much change in the times, etc. But the location I had for the Challenge of Q'ermitt has been taken away from me. Now while I could find a new location, there are new problems that are arising with any one that I am taking.

I feel that at this point, I am preferring to cancel the Q'ermitt for this year. If I am going to do it, then I wan tto do it properly. At this stage it has become too much of a frustration. I sincerely apologize for anyone who made special plans or had to try to adjust their schedules to be able to make it.

I will consider holding the tournament in August, if people would be receptive to the idea. Just give me some feedback on what you think, and we'll take it from there.

The guy took the space away because there was an announced release of a new set of Magic the Gathering, which is a huge part of his business. He needed the space to promote that. I cannot fault him on that, I mean he was giving me the space for next to nothing.

You are an SOB. I moved my tourney just to come to this and this is how I get repaid. I will be ok in a couple of days since there is a one day tourney in Michigan that same weekend. I will be going to that and anyone else that would like to come would be great. It is in Battle Creek, Mi.

Be careful of the date in August because of Gencon and it will be 3 months away which is about the same time as another release of MTG. Just a headsup. (If they still release every quarter, I think)

I hope this still means you are coming to the Chromatic Cup. Just so I can verbally berate you in public. Surprised

Sorry to hear the news. It won't stop me from finishing my conversions for my forest goblin pygmy team, though. When you reschedule, I should have a nicely painted team to show off and perhaps a full 11 squad too. Definitely reschedule if you can.

This sucks! When the date changed, Q'ermitt was going to be the one tournament I could go to this spring, but I definitely won't be able to get a weekend off in August. Pushed out by Magic the Gathering: aren't the addicts willing to buy their cards from a guy out back in the alley? "Got this one already, and this one, and this one; I need another pack!"

I q'an't believe that the Q'ermitt is q'ancelled!

I would be game for August, however, I may be in the midst of some final exams, so I will have to see where the dates fall before q'ommitting 100%.
