Hello Gents,

Glenn and I have decided on the dates for the upcoming Deathbowl this year and just wanted to put the notice out there for people to be able to plan ahead. We will be changing the venue to Casa De Jones's (aka my house) instead of at the Montgomery Legion. Address is listed in the tourney section once the tourney has been approved.

The new LOS (Line of Scrimmage) worked out great last year and will remain the same, in the process of ironing out a few details with regards to the rules but will mostly be the same as usaul. I'll post them once everything is completed and good to go.

If any of you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to ask and I'll answer as quickly as possible. Will see many of you at Lakeside next month and should have more details at that time. I'll post any updates as they are decided upon, take care everyone and hope to see you all on the pitch soon!!

Adam

(to the power's that be, can you sticky this please. Thanks)

Hey Spazz, it is the year of the Elf formerly known as Pro Elves. In the process of narrowing down what exactly will be there 'advantage' at the tourney but should know shortly. Take it easy

What if you get RR's at half price, but only if You attend dressed as a Pro Elf (brightly colloured hair, make up, lip stick ect, or basically a drag queen )

From what I understand, if you are going to play Pro Elves for the Death Bowl, you're already a drag queen. At least that is what Daggers told me when he said he was going to play Pro Elves. He said something about already having an outfit picked out for this year's Death Bowl. I think the paternity leave he's taken has scrambled a couple of his circuits!

Doesn't that give all those Ottawa players an unfair advantage? They just have to go to there closets, while the rest of us have to go buy the stuff.

Hey Gents,

Just a quick update as I'm sure some of you have been wondering. Rules have been finalized and should be posted shortly. Deathbowl boards image has been created and I should be getting it this weekend sometime so I can get the boards printed in time for the tourney (speaking of boards we lent out 3 boards to Mr Chaput, Black and Dadge, and I believe Tristan) wanted to find out about bringing them back with you in time for the tourney please and thanks.

So rules wise, team values will be 1250K as per usual for team creation. All normal rules regarding team creation in the CRP will apply. We have decided on the bonuses for the Pro Elf teams as it is the year of the Elf at Deathbowl this year. The demands put forth from the coaches of the Elf teams attending have created a much more intense practice atmosphere leading up to the tournament. The Eldar have been sought out and are providing each Elf Roster with a Good Ol' Magic Cod Piece (magic item card) to slow down the grind of hitting the ground a little! In addition to this the Dwarf Giants and Orcland Raiders have provided sponsorship to all those teams that will be attending the Deathbowl this year. To reflect this the quality of armour that has been provided them has significantly improved (Armour value +1 can be purchassed at a reduced cost of 10k instead of 30k) Each player can receive a maximum of 2 AV increases, however any player that has +2AV when they attempt a Go For It will fail on a 1 or 2 instead of only on a 1 to reflect the extra weight they are carrying around from the armour, causing them to trip and stumble Razz

Sending them off and should hopefully have posted on the website soon!
Take care everyone

Zombie walk is a silly excuse, but a far better one than "your tourney is the opening weekend of the NFL"

Dwarfrunner has it right, the whole "advantage" of this year is directed towards the Elves. Every year the bonuses are directed towards the "year of" theme that is chosen for that year. Hope this helps to clarify.

Not trying to be obtuse, but just 100% clear - is it only the Pro elves that get the bonus? Not any other kind of elf?

Good news gents,

The website and comprehensive rules are now up and running, please check it out as there are a few changes this year and the (Pro) Elf bonus is outlined as well. There is a link attached to my signature for ease finding it (typo on website says year "X" or 10 when it is in fact "IX" or 9. We have something good already planned for the 10th anniversary next year but will let you all know at the end of the tourney. If you could take the time to pre-register that would also be very helpful in determining food and space requirements in advance. Thanks guys, hope you have an awesome time at Warpstone this weekend if you are able to attend, take care,

Adam

Awesome Taxal! will be good to get a Montreal group out for the tourney. As it stands right now the turnout is looking really good I have 22 confirmed thus far not including the 3 odd men out necessary for Deathbowl! There are still a good 6-8 people that have not said yay or nay as well...really hyped for some Deathbowl action next weekend....better get on making a pro elf roster in case I have to play Confused See you all soon!

Haha, true enough.

I really want to make it out to Death Bowl but it's always on (this year) or really close to an annual cottage weekend that I do with some high-school buds. Not that it would be the end of the world if I missed one of those weekends but, out of the group of eight or so of us that go only four of us (myself included) have been to every one so it's reaching tontine-like severity to be the last guy that's never missed one. Smile

Awesome job Glenn and Adam on another kick-ass tournament. And to the Jones parents for being such awesome hosts and letting us defile their hosuehold for a weekend. Had a blast as usual, and always glad to get to hang out with everyone. Thanks to all my opponents on some crazy games. Who knew halflings could hold up in Deathbowl. Although I did finish 1W-2L-1T, no game ever had more than a 1 TD difference.

Anyways, as always, glad to see everyone again and can't wait until the next one. No idea if I am making any more tournaments this year, but if not, see everyone at CCKO.

Anytime, Anywhere ... so I hear.

Thanks to everyone, the hosts especially, I had outstanding opponents, I got out-casualted as an undead versus Daggers' halflings, too bad Deathbowl is only once a year!

I made it home around 2am. I did stop for supper.

Great tourney JonesBro. Especially thanks to Mrs. Jones cooking for us. Thanks also to Pete's wife for the muffins, pie, and brownies.

This format was a lot of fun for me. I don't think that players on the other tables should have been allowed to vote on my sportsmanship on Round 3.

I can't promise that I will be at another Deathbowl in the future but if I have time I'll be there.

Great fun was had this past weekend. A huge thank you to the whole Jones family and the great hospitality they gave us.

To all my oponents thank you. Finished tied for 2nd which is a miracle all on its own. Tie breakers put me into 4th overall and taking home Best Sportsman.

Now I think my liver needs a break.

I tried to be an ass at this tournament and win the Brass-Ass award. But I was no competition for Angry Tom. I am an ass, but I just can't get angry when I am having to much fun. Thanks to everyone who gave me low sportmanship points, apparently it was close in the end.

So the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Spoon are obvious from the standings above but let's talk about the not so obvious here...

There was a 3 way tie for 2nd place coming down to the tiebreakers, Pat's +/- being better than Tom's he finished in 2nd, While Dan's +/- was also better than Tom's in the end, Tom finished with 3 wins which was the 1st tiebreaker before we got to the +/-'s so he edged Dan out for third place earning him the last "Cod Piece" available.

Most TD's - Leathan w 8td's (not far behind Stephane and Pat G finished with 7td's)
Most CAS - Leathan w 10 (in 2nd place somewhat of a surprise was Mark D causing 8 with his Halflings!)
Best DEF - Ryan M w 0 td's allowed (2nd was Leathan with 1td allowed, which came in the final game of the tourney)
Best Team - Colin R w Slann (some of the toughest looking Slann we have seen to date, well done)
Rising Star- Kohl (in his first tourney experience made it to table 2 but had a tough final game to drop in the standings, be wary of this new blood on the pitch!)
Most Sporting- Dan C (very close in the end but Dan pulls out yet another Best Sporting award, we Giants fans are a likeable lot Very Happy)
Jackass- Tom R (not much of a surprise here as "Angry Tom" reared his ugly head beginning in game 3 if I remember correctly...Woosaah!)

All in all was a great experience as always, take care everyone. Any questions don't hesitate to ask,

Adam.

Or atleast trim, its feel like I am bushwhacking when I am down there.

I am happy I finished 9th with Halflings and above Kohl, all with a losing record. And 2nd in CAS isn't bad either. I am totally bringing them again some year.
