Hi Draakus,

I just joined the NAF myself -- we have a small league of newbies on the
lower Nth Shore in Sydney.

There are only about 6 coaches so far, although most of us have more than one team. We would certainly like some more coaches participating.

We play straight LRB, except that we allow tied games & the experimantal
teams from BB mag.

Don't know if it's the same guys as sangraalau, but there's a Sydney league listed in the BB League Links section.

Hey Draakus,

There is a Blood Bowl league running in Western Sydney (of which I am a member). It is based at Unlimited Hobbies, in Blacktown. U.H. has just relocated and I am unsure if they have the phone on yet, but you can find it at Unit 4, 94 Kildare Rd, Blacktown (opposite the Sportsman's Hotel). We play BB most weekends and Thursday evenings. We are getting towards the end of the current season and will probably be kicking another one off soon. Drop by some time if you're interested.

Cheers!

Emma,

Is the BB league in blacktown still running?

Is it still at unlimited games?

I'd like to get back into BB.

Ian, there's a league up the freeway not too far north of Sydney if you're prepared to travel. Sangraal is now a part of that league (ours) and can be found at www.thebattlestore.net

Where abouts in Sydney are you? I know of a few leagues around I can point you to one nearest to you.

I live about 5km south west of parramatta.
I used to play in a league at unlimited hobbies in blacktown a few years ago but it folded after one season.

I think that is still sort of going. PM Virral about it. Also there is the league Emma used to run which may still be going - once again I think Virral has details.

The Blacktown UH league is supposed to be starting up again really soon, but things have been a bit quiet recently. I have no idea if the WSGS league in Quakers Hill is still going or not, but to be frank I don't want to be responsible for sending anyone their way considering the way some of their members behave.

Ian, if you can make it you should see if you can get to Leviathan in April (details are on the tourney page). Should be a good opportunity to meet up with some regular Sydney BBers. I'll let you know once I hear more about the Unlimited Hobbies league.

I was planning on going to Leviathon, but alas my wifes best friend is getting married in that weekend Sad so I might just pop by on sunday for a chat watch in envy Smile

Babs, does your league meet every fortenight?
I could make on a monthly basis, fortenightly might be pushing my luck though.
Babs - Mar 08, 2007 - 08:26 PM
Post subject: RE: BB league in Sydney
My league meets monthly - on the second saturday of the month (Usually - sometimes there's a week change). We play two games of BB per month - and people can play up to the current total of games (at the moment it's at 12, and gains by two each month) but not over it.

Does that make sense?

yep.

I noticed your in your finals period. whens the new season start?
will you be using LRB5?
Babs - Mar 11, 2007 - 06:29 PM
Post subject: RE: BB league in Sydney
Yes to LRB 5. Starts July - but a great way to get involved sooner and to meet the guys is to come to the Russell Drysdale tournament on Good Friday (April 6). See the thread or PM me for more details.

I'm told the new UH league is starting in a couple of weeks, I've asked them to add your email to the list Draakus

cool!
Thanks

do you know (or can guess at) how many people may be in the league?
Virral - Mar 26, 2007 - 12:32 AM
Post subject: RE: BB league in Sydney
At least 6, probably closer to 10 I'd say. It was supposed to start in February so it depends a lot on who got sick of waiting and has committed to something else in the meantime.

Sounds good.

Look forward to it.

hmmm.... now the million dollar question... what team to play?
Virral - Apr 02, 2007 - 06:22 PM
Post subject: RE: BB league in Sydney
Well I'm playing Dwarves, so my recommendations are either Zons or Halflings Smile

I'm playing Orcs, so bring on the pain!

hmmm....
not gobbos?

I was going to play dwarves but since you will be playing a dwarf teamm, maybe I'll play dark elves (but they're not all painted yet, still WIP).
If only fully painted teams are allowed then my choices are chaos or skaven (I also have a painted orc team but I don't want to double up.

This is the Blacktown League Clay, it would be great if you could join in. It is set to start on the 22nd of April. Here are the details from the email:

Blackwater Blood Bowl League

Location: Unlimited Hobbies, 94 Kildare Rd, Blacktown. Phone: 8814 8700.

Commisioner: Geoff Watson, geoffwatson@pacific.net.au , Phome: 0410 696 539.

Start Date: Sunday, 22nd April.
Meeting fortnightly (May 6th, May 20th, June 3rd, June 17th , etc).

If you can't make the day, please organise with your opponent to play the match another time.

Round Robin. (If there's a large number of teams, each team might not play everyone).
The top four teams will have semi-finals and a final to determine the victor.

Entry Fee: $10.

Prizes will depend on the number of teams.
The winner will have their name added to the Blackwater Blood Bowl League plaque for future bragging rights, and receive a gift voucher (value will depend on the size of the league).
There will be additional prizes (to be decided - sportsmanship, encouragement, etc).

Unlimited Hobbies opens at 10am.

Drinks, chips, and chocolates are available.
Pizzas can be ordered for lunch ($Cool. Michael will come around asking for pizza orders.
Blacktown shopping centre is nearby as an alternative lunch source.
Unlimited Hobbies has a large collection of board games if you want to play something else after your match is finished.

Rules:
LRB 5.
No Khemri teams.
Overtime is optional. If the score is a draw at full time, and both players agree, the game goes into 'sudden death overtime' (if they don't agree, it's a draw). The kick-off table result for the overtime kick-off is automatically Blitz (10), so the receiving team doesn't have a huge advantage. If the score is still level at the end of overtime, the game is a draw (no penalty shoot-out).

Each match, both coaches recieve two random 50k Special Play Cards (use a normal deck of cards for this).
Special Play Cards may be used as inducements.

Teams that play their match at Unlimited Hobbies receive +1 to Winnings rolls and Fan Factor rolls.
Matches played at Unlimited Hobbies on the designated day roll twice for MVP and choose one.
This is to encourage everyone to play their matches together at UH.

For more details, or if you are interested in joining, please email the Commish on geoffwatson@pacific.net.au

I'm pretty happy with the rules, although I must admit I found the exclusion of Khemri to be a bit puzzling particularly considering the pretty heavy nerfs they have received (both directly to them and via toned down fouls). Geoff feels they are too brutal for a league environment *shrug*.
