Europe - Speed of rankings updates

Hi guys,
just a quick one about the speed of rankings updates (with particular ref to the Welsh Open, but may apply elsewhere). It seems to take a lot longer for the NAF rankings to update if there isn't a NAF person at the tournament, even if they get sent off really quickly. This COULD give the impression that some tournaments get preferential treatment.

A constructive point, hopefully. Thoughts?

Ta,
Mike

Not that it matters to much, as the rankings still get worked out on date order, even if entered in the "wrong" order.

Also found iit takes longer if not NAF staff as any problems (such as new members or wrong results [or worse, non-standard result sheets]) take longer to resolve.

Some of the tournament management software used (mine & Score!) can produce files for automatic upload, which takes only a few minutes to do.

The major delay of often adding new sign ups, particularly if the contact details aren't clear and need verifying.

IF we have all the relevant data they can be done in a matter of minutes

unfortunately the majority of the time new players need to be addedd to the system and we're often without the relevant details required and sorting through obscurities that are often amongst the games waiting to answers from TO's to any questions raised delays the process considerably.

If theres a NAF staffer at the event any and all problems/questions can be solved/answered immediately making the process of entering rankings alot quicker.

think it's just a case of bearing with it...

especially, as NAF Reps do have lives outside of NAF...

however, some the impression can be given that some tournaments do appear to get updated slightly faster than others...

I know that when i ran the inauguaral 'Brewerz Bowl' last December, it did take awhile to see the results published, despite the SCORE file being sent off within days of the tournament ending...
(several emails were received off me from the players & i did have to send a few to Pippy & co, backed up by PeteW)

there were at least 3 new sign ups present though.

As a counter-point, I've had a few new sign-ups at the ARBBL, but because I've had a NAF staffer present they've got all the necessary details, been able to input the new coaches asap, and updated the rankings by approx 9pm on the Sunday.

this is one case in point, when iirc there were a few annomolies with the file (spare player and someone playing a different race in game 6?) which if you're at the event is obvious whats gone on, but from just looking at the file is not so clear.
