North America - WARPSTONE CUP VI (Sept 22-23, 2012)

Clan_Skaven - Mar 17, 2012 - 05:32 PM
Post subject: WARPSTONE CUP VI (Sept 22-23, 2012)
Warpstone Tokens

Before each game You can chose to try & get a Warpstone Token. to get one roll a 3d6 if you roll a 13 then you gain a Warpstone token for whole tourney. (if rolling for a Skaven or Underword team, You can gain one on a 13 or a triples)
A team can never have more than 2 Warpstone Tokens. All Warpstone Tokens can be used once per game.

Warpstone Tokens add 50K each to the value of your team.

They can be used 1 of 3 ways

1) As a Warpstone Wake Up, used exactly the same as a Bloodweiser Babe to add +1 or +2 to a single KO'd player, but if a one was rolled place that player in the Dead & Injured Box. (Each token can only be used once & for one player)

2) Bribe Ref. if a secret weapon or fouling player is sent off you may use this as a bribe. roll a d6, on a 4+ the bribe is a success, 1-3 the call stands. (but if the roll was a 1 or a 6 the result stands as stated above, but the Ref is a lil preoccupied with the warpstone to call any more fouls or secret weapons for the remainder of this drive.

3) Warpstone Roulette!

Chose a player on your team at the start of any of your turns to consume a small portion of the Warpstone Token then roll D6 if the result is a 4+, Role a D16 & apply result.

1: Big Hand
2: Bone Head
3: Claw
4: Disturbing Pr.
5: Extra Arms
6: Foul App.
7: Horns
8: Hypnotic Gaze
9: Prehensile Tail
10: Really Stupid
11: Regeneration
12: Tentacles
13: CHOSE!
14: Two Heads
15: Very Long Legs
16: Wild Animal

if the result rolled is already on the player (horns on a beastman, or Bonehead on an Ogre, then reroll the D16 until a result that he/she does not already have) The player gains this result for the remainder of the game, but leaves him before next game starts.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok You Bring 1 team its TV will be either 100 or 110 (not anything inbetween, so no 104TV , if you plan on going above 100, use all of it cause your TV will be considered 110. Any gold not spent on creation is wasted, so use it all up) No Inducements may be purchased during team creation . Most people will probably take the TV110 team, but should you want 100k worth of inducements, you may take the TV100 team. It does not matter if everyone takes the same TV.

It is possible to have a match up with an inducement
****only Bloodwiser babes, bribes, wandering appoth's, team RR's, or inducement cards may be chosen*****

****Goblin teams may take bribes for 50k instead of 100k, & halflings teams may take a Halfling Master Chef for 50k****

NO STAR PLAYERS MAY BE BOUGHT IN TEAM CREATION OR INDUCEMENTS

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Skill progression..

Before 1st game right after You have Drawn Your Division , You will Draw Your Magic Item ***Refer to rules section below for Magic Items***

After the 1st game , 3 random players get 3 random upgrades

After the 2nd game 2 more random players get 2 more random upgrades

After 3rd game One Chosen player gets one Random upgrade.

so going into thier 4th game will have 6 upgrades & one Magic Item on 1-7 players.

No more skill progression after the 4th game.

With the exception of the magic item all upgrades add to your team value as usual. (normal=20k,double=30k, +1MA or +1AV=30k, +1 AG=40k, +1ST=50k)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kick Off Table Changes.

4: Is now "WARPSTONED" The ill effects of the Warpstone is affecting the players ability to stay healthy. Both Coaches roll a D6 adding +1 for each Warpstone Token they own (even if already used this game.) The higher roll (both if tied) has a randomised player that succumbs to Warpstone poisoning. For the remainder of this Drive the player(s) has the No Hands, & Foul Appearance skills/traits. Skaven & Underworld teams are less likely to be affected so they subtract a -1 for each Warpstone token they own rather than adding a +1 .

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rounds 4-6 Overtime. (Top 8 teams only)

The top 8 teams that advance to knockout stage can not tie thier games, so if tied at end of regulation, play sudden death overtime. Only unused RR's from 2nd half may be used (in other words, RR's do not replennish at start of OT). Whoever wins the kick off choses to kick or recieve, but after scattering the ball do not roll on kick off table, instead treat the result as an automatic, "BLITZ!" result on the kick off, this is sudden death play so keep going until there is a score . Do not restart after 8 turns.

all the lower teams (teams that were not in top 8, can tie in rounds 4-6 & so there is no OT )
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAGIC ITEMS

The 4 Clans of the Skaven have shown their interest in the Warpstone Cup. So much so that the 4 Divisions in the Warpstone Cup was named after them.
Clan Moulder, Eshin, Skyre & Pestilens. Each Clan boasts that a team from their Division will win the Warpstone Cup. To ensure this happens each clan has donated magic items to the teams represented in their division.

Each Clan has donated 5 types of items.

Clan Moulder :
1 ) Whip of Entanglement (Tentacles)
2 ) Pauldrons of Power (Juggernaut )
3 ) Bracers of Might (Strong Arm)
4 ) Belt of Stability (Stand Firm)
5 ) Gauntlets of Holding (Grab)

Clan Eshin :
1 ) Blade of the Nightrunner (Claw)
2 ) Cloak of Swiftness (Sprint)
3 ) Boots of the Assassin (Leap)
4 ) Ring of Anticipation (Jump Up)
5 ) Amulet of Evasion (Sidestep)

Clan Skyre :
1 ) Ring of Snatching (Big Hand)
2 ) Warplock Engineer's Tool of Distance (Hail Mary Pass)
3 ) Warpstone Crystal Goggles (Accurate)
4) Headband of Concentration (Nerves of Steel)
5 ) Gloves of Discharging (Dump Off)

Clan Pestilens :
1 ) Harness of Nurglitch (Foul Appearance)
2 ) Rotted Bracers of Repulsion (Fend)
3 ) Bile of Madness (Frenzy)
4 ) Collar of Aggression (Dauntless)
5 ) Puss of the Hand of Nurglitch (Strip Ball)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After You Draw what Division Your in You will draw 2 of 5 numbered tokens (1-5) & depending on the Division You are in, You then will pick & keep 1 of the 2 Magic Items drawn, then place both numbers back in bag for next person. (For example lets say Your Wood Elf team is in Clan Pestilens Division & You draw 1 & 4 You will have the choice of the Harness of Nurglitch & the Collar of Aggression, you will keep one of those 2)

Since these are Magic Items they can be used by any player on any team (even the ones that are Mutations)

You decide what player will use it the start of each game. Should that player get Serious Injured , KO'd or Dead, after K'O rolls but before the next Drive starts You may give this Magic Item to another player on your team.

This Magic Item will replace Your 1st Skill roll before 1st game. So You will have 1 Magic Item & 6 Skills.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Multi Nega-traits :

Should a player gain a 2nd Nega-trait they would have to pass both for example A Treeman gets Wild Animal on Warpstone Roulette he would have to pass both his Wild Animal & Take Root Rolls.

That was your suggestion so I added it after some thought, & with the discussion we had about Pete's massive upgraded over powered team, I also decided to make all upgrades added to value of team.

First question - why the Blitz? I could see this being a HUGE advantage to a team that has Kick.

Second questions - do you still have the "Blitz the Seal" result? Would it apply in this case?

I'd say more than not the receiving team scores than the defending team, so winning the kick off is huge in OT, imagine your playing Chaos & kicking to a Wood Elf team.??? BLITZ! gives the best equalizer to the defending player. And the winner of the kick off chooses (I still bet more than not receiving ball will get picked but, at least the defense is not totally screwed.

And "Blitzing the seal" has been removed all together

A bit of thought & you do have a point Spazz, so the "Kick Skill" Magic item was replaced with a magic item that gives Strip Ball. This is done because if your opponent has a player with the kick skill & you fear an OT match you can do your best to casualty or KO that player out of game. but as a Magic item any player can use it, so in OT that would be huge, good eyes Spazz ty.

This Magic Item will replace Your 1st Skill roll before 1st game. So You will have 1 Magic Item & 6 Skills.

Just to clarify this at the start of each drive you can decide what player uses the magic item (that player & only that player has it for that drive) , but the next drive another player can use it even if the 1st player to use it was not Serious Inj. or KO'd

Fot those that do not know the format. The tourney is made up of 4 divisions (myself & 2 others make up the 3 oddmen out). The 1st 3 games are played vs your own division (if divisions are made up of an odd number some teams will play one game vs another team from another division in the 1st 3 rounds)

After 3 rounds the teams are ranked within division. 1st & 2nd in each if the 4 divisions advance to the Championship Rounds (single elimination brackets)

rest of the teams (3rd & lower in each division play in the League Cup)

In the League Cup you will play the 3 other division teams with the same 3rd game rank as you. (3rd after 3 games from division A will play 3rd from div. B,C,D. 4th will play the three other 4th place teams , as 5th will play only other 5th teams ect.) After the 6th game All the League Cup teams will have the points tallied from all 6 games to make up the League Cup Champ (9th place)

Hope thats not too confusing.

Yes so for example a Skaven team with 2 blitzers, 4 gutters, 1 thrower, 3 line rats, 1 rat ogre, 2 RR's =990

so for a TV100 team you'd have 10k to buy either 1 assistant coach, 1 cheerleader, or 1 FF.

For a TV110 team you'd have 110k so you could afford more players (2nd thrower or more line rats), an appoth, a 3rd RR, more FF, more assistant coaches and or cheerleaders.

Just remember no matter what TV you choose (100-110) use all cash up to buy something. A 99 TV will be considered 100 & a 107 will be considered 110 so if at registration it is noticed your cash is not all used up, I'll point it out & you will need to add whatever to it.

And awesome you can make it out

try to find a car-pooling option (if you live downtown, try to contact Stimme, Mubo or Natsirtm).

book a cabin or camp-site at Niagara falls, generally most of the coaches are staying over there (KOA or other).

Ok, back online, phew!

Sorry about the delay.

I'd like registration to start 8:30 am, somce the numbers this year seem a bit more than past years.

Once all divisions are drawn & magic items are selected games can start right away. Also because in rounds 1-3 matches are predetermined, you do not need to wait for all games to end in a round to play next game, if you & your opponent are both done your previous game & both have made improvement roles, you can start game even if others are still playing previous match ups.

As far as dice go D6's you can use your own if there is a concern about fairness/probability equality both coaches can share the same set for the game.

Block dice: only GW or NAF Block dice will be legal.

Custum pitches are welcom.

Just to be clear. 110 TV, any skills, attributes, etc, minimum 11 players.

You can bring a TV 100 or 110, but no skills or stat upgrades or in ducements can be purchased .

Basically look at it this way you are bringing either a vanilla 100 TV team or that same team but with an extra 100k to spend only on more team players (not star players or mercenaries), team RR's , Fan Factor, An Appothicary, Cheerleaders, or Assistant Coaches.

Either way your team will not have any improvements purchased during team creation.

Hey guys,

Just want to clarify some confusion with the rules for team making. I have been seeing alot of questions here about this......

Ok, so during team creation, you can spend either 100 k or 110 k. Only players, apothecaries, team rerolls, coaches, cheerleaders, and fan factor can be purchased. So your teams will be vanilla rosters, no skills added.

Hopefully this will clear up the confusion

Haha, thanks - just finished telling my boss about winning it and describing the game. He actually understood the mechanics of stats/dice/probability very well.

Just as a side note. I like the format alot, but I still liked the two team thing better. And, I missed not getting to beat on Laurant at a Canadian tourney Twisted Evil

Thank you Rod and Greg for hosting a wonderful tournament in Niagara Falls. I really enjoy the tourney format. My family came with me and they enjoyed Niagara falls and activities while i was at the tournament, its a great place for a family get-a-way. They enjoyed it so much that they want to come again next year. To anyone who is considering going to warpstone cup next year,,I surely recommend it.

Thank you
Pete and family
