Rules Questions - Handicap / Kickoff precedence

OK, which takes precedence over the other -- a handicap or kickoff roll? The reason I ask is someone in our league had Briobe the Ref as a handicap, but rolled Get the Ref on kickoff. So would the kickoff reverse the handicap, or would the handicap stand? What do you guys say?

We had this problem show up in a game a few days ago. Gobo had got bribe the ref on the handicap roll and then in the game on a kick off we rolled get the ref.
The way we saw it was this, he won the roll so his fans were so stupid that they beat up the ref after his coach had bribed him. the out come was that instead of having the ref on his side for the whole match, the new ref was only on his side till the end of the half. Bad luck for him, but good luck for my team.

I'd say the handicap table overruled the KO table for the entire match, irrespective of any results rolled during the match. Understandable confusion though, and a good compromise.

I would say the KO table, as the bribed ref is now dead, so it makes sense.

yeah but maybe he brided ALL the refs, or bribes the new one too?
dunno, it's 50-50 really

I'd say the handicap system is there to offset the difference between the two teams and so it should take precedence over the kick off table as it is only meant to be a small advantage that could happen when anyone kicks the ball....

I other words, the lesser team should 'generally' get the advantage in any of this kind of decisions, although of course if you want to play it 'overly fairly' then I suppose it should go as jasonbarron 's opponent judged it.

I'd say the KO table, as it's the more immediate happening.

Indigo,

You saf hes bribed all the refs, but (wait for it, I am going too be really akward and rules lawyerish here Embarassed ) the handicap table clearly states "Bribe the REF", singular not plural Laughing .

true, but dwarfcoach has summed up what IMO is the spirit of the rule, conferring an advantage on the smaller team.

I see where you are coming from, but IMO the kick off result is now, it justs goes too show how quickly a game can turn on its head so quickly!

What is the conflict? Get the Ref says no penalty is awarded against your team for the half.

Bribe the Ref means the 1st penalty call is ignored.

So if you've got the Ref the penatly is never called (don't even bother rolling for it), so you don't need to use your handicap.

Actually, I had Biased Referee, not Bribe the ref. And I was the underdog, by what, 20 TR? Course my best player got eaten by my troll. Razz I felt that there was one biased ref, he was on my side, the fans thought he was bribed and killed him, then new ref came out, was afraid for first half...

Still there is no conflict.

If your opponent had Biased Ref and you'd won the Get the Ref although the eye is on you, you still don't get sent off.

Remember that the eye still moves normally when you've got the ref, so although you can't get sent off, he'll only ever get sent off on a 6.

It does substantially weaken the handicap - for that half.

Dwarfcoach -- That was my idea, too. We went that way in the game. But I guess Doubleskulls is right, too. It would just let people foul a whole lot in the first half...

Anyway, thanks guys. It's nice to know there's not just a rule I missed somewhere.
