The 2003 Orion Cup is coming!!

Our information site is up at http://www.tbbf.org/tournaments/orion

I've heard from a few people from the states so far, I think we're gonna have a great tourney this year. My goal is to have an even bigger event than last year!

Let the trash talking begin Smile

I am making the trek to Toronto. Bringing at least one local friend to the tourney. hoping to get 1 or 2 more prior to the event. Twist, enjoy your last few weeks with that trophy. Going to bring it back to the other side of the lake.

On a non-bloodbowl note, I'll bring a track or two for formula de', let me know what you have.
twist - Feb 17, 2003 - 10:45 AM
Post subject:
Bring your whole league, Khan! As for the trophy, keep dreaming, don't forget you'll be outnumbered as well. If I don't stomp you 'merkins, someone from the TBBF will... Laughing

I'll have to check which tracks I have...

I WISH I could be there....one year we'll have to have Orion: The european invasion....turn it into a BB Ryder cup!
twist - Feb 20, 2003 - 11:20 AM
Post subject:
That would be amazing... How bout next year, right after we invade the Blood Bowl in Nottingham? Smile

Oh ya, KHANKILL..... For Formula De, I have tracks #1 Monaco and #2 Nederland (which came with the game), and #17 Buenos Aires & #18 Barcelona. Bring as many tracks as you can, its the only game you have a chance of winning while you are here... Razz

To twist:

Were you at the tournament JKL held in Ann Arbor a few months back? I met some of you Canadian goons there, but I didn't stay for the duration of the tournament. I took off after round one because another person dropped out. That left an odd number of coaches, so I took the oppertunity to hang out with the lady friend I brought with me to the convention.

Good choice Wink

Yes Twist was there, I'm sure you guys met at some point.

This means not only will I be winning all the races, but kicking your arse in Bloodbowl as well. Wink

So, I see it as fighting back so subtlety that you didn't even notice. HA damn I'm sly

30...isn't that a slap in the face?

I only say so as mine is creeping up on me.
twist - Feb 28, 2003 - 03:06 AM
Post subject:
heyyyy... that info is confidential.... Smile But thanks!

Khan: The gameplan is this: It doesnt matter if u win or lose, as long as you make Khankill look silly on the pitch in all aspects of the game. Wink

And the constillations were in perfect alignment for me tonight, in the TBBF my skaven beat dwarves 5-1 winning cas count 8-5 (5 cas by my RO), and my de's beating amazons 4-2... Heh heh heh!
Khankill - Feb 28, 2003 - 05:27 AM

Glad to hear you are getting that kind of luck out of the way now.

Don't worry, I'll save some more good karma up for the tourney.

And piling on Rat Ogres are gods on the pitch... Wink

If anyone has pre-registered for the event, please let me know. Apparently I had the wrong information on the site and pre-reg is only $30, not $45. Sorry I only found this out now... argh!

If you paid $45 and sent it in by mail, please email me ASAP at anthw@sympatico.ca

It looks like I won't be coming out. I'm about $100 short on what I need to go.

A week before the tourney, and all is well in Findlay. In fact the number of coaches coming has increased to five! I finished painting my team last night (2 others just started painting last night). They all will get done and if not there are back-up plans in place. Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait.
AnthonyTBBF - Mar 16, 2003 - 08:32 AM
Post subject:
Five! Sweet! Should be a good sized event!

I was thinking of adding a 5th game. On Saturday we have 2 slots, 9-1 and 2-6. Those are pretty long slots! So I was thinking of keeping Sunday the same and having 3 games on Saturday:

Game 1: 9 - 11
Game 2: 12 - 2
Game 3: 3 - 5

What do you guys think of that? If we do decide to do that, you still only need to sign up for the 4 slots as normal, we'll just sneak in the extra game.
twist - Mar 16, 2003 - 03:41 PM
Post subject:
Five fresh vict... faces, great!!! Can't wait to see you all on the pitch.

Sorry to hear about Cervidal though, hopefully he can make Spike in the summer!
Khankill - Mar 17, 2003 - 05:56 AM
Post subject:
We could certainly get 3 in on Saturday. It looks like plenty of time to get the games in. With an hour buffer between games.
twist - Mar 17, 2003 - 07:51 AM
Post subject:
And don't forget Formula De afterwards, or in our break on Sunday.
Just from the imports, I think we have 10-15 people coming, so I think we should get an attendance of over 30 very easily. Lets aim for 40!

Oh ya, Anthony! There are some Newmarket people coming down again. Paul and his friend (the two from Panda) said they were coming, plus maybe more.
AnthonyTBBF - Mar 17, 2003 - 12:57 PM

Good, I want a rematch against Jon and his PO Mummies.
twist - Mar 17, 2003 - 04:31 PM
Post subject:
I dunno about Jon... My rat ogre is still picking the splinters of skeleton bones out of his teeth from when I played him, man that was an enjoyable game... Smile AFAIK, its Paul and his buddy who played Orcs at Panda.
CyberHare - Mar 17, 2003 - 08:59 PM

Anthony do you have a rough idea of how many coaches we will be now? By my guesstimate we should be over thirty now?
AnthonyTBBF - Mar 18, 2003 - 09:31 AM
Post subject:
Should be around there... I have no idea really.
twist - Mar 18, 2003 - 09:46 AM
Post subject:
I say its closer to 40... Smile
AnthonyTBBF - Mar 18, 2003 - 04:14 PM
Post subject:
Well we only have so many tables.... I hope it's not too much more than 30 to be honest!
CyberHare - Mar 18, 2003 - 05:12 PM
Post subject:
I'd be surprised if getting tables was a problem. At this point you would think that Orion would be giving you your own hall or section of a hall. If there are close to 40 of us that's nothing to sneeze at. There's a lot more reason for us to have our own area than the "Historical Battle" gamers, who always seem to have their own area's at these con's but never very many people in them!

That was the clincher (that and black dice) for one of the guys that is in our group. One of the others, is the guy who went to Underworld with me. He saw how much fun we were having and decided this time he wanted to join in. So in total My group consists of me, a guy that has never had much luck at bloodbowl and 3 newbies(played less than half a dozen times each). This will hopefully assure some wins for me and Da Scum Very Happy.

Give yourselves lots of time at the border, it ain't gonna be pretty this weekend.

BTW guys, remember to bring your boards etc.!
Khankill - Mar 19, 2003 - 12:07 PM
Post subject:
We should have 3 boards with us. We are also bringing Formula De' tracks. I already told the hotel to expect late check-in. With events as they are, maybe a little later than I first anticipated.

I don't think there will be much trouble getting into Canada. Getting back into the states will be a different story.

Maybe Anthony didn't mention it... We DO have our own room!!!

Khan, now I see your strategy, bring your own opponents, bribe Anthony to let you play them all, and earn a flawless record in the process! BRILLIANT!!! Very Happy

Surprised Me!
Why I'd never dream of such underhanded actions.

On a unrelated note. Anthony, do you prefer cash or merchandise Cool . If merchandise nothing that will cause problems at the border.
