Post subject: Brewhaus Bowl: Bloktoberfest! - May 28th-29th, Waterloo ON
Brewhaus Bowl II: Bloktoberfest!

Brewhouse Bowl is BACK and taking on a beer and blood inspired theme as we move locations from Waterloo to Kitchener this year.

Not all Blood Bowl tournaments in the Old World can afford to offer glittering prizes and fame to entice big name stars and famous teams. Outside of the capital cities, where Blood Bowl is just as popular, promoters and organizers have to find alternative methods of tempting teams to come risk life and limb for the fans enjoyment. They offered feasts hoping to draw Trolls, which always seem hungry. They brought in herds of sheep to attract Beastmen and Norse Berserkers (who are both rumored to enjoy a “snuggle” with the woolly creatures). But what they found worked best of all was booze! Blood Bowl players love a good drink, especially after surviving yet another life-of-death encounter on the pitch…

The Brewhaus Bowl is a Blood Bowl tournament, in it's second year, that mixes 5 games of traditional Blood Bowl mayhem with 4 rounds of “Brewhouse Bash”, a unique one-off GW game printed in WD magazine in the 90s.

Rules can be found here: http://rpg.by/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=15120

As the game was originally created by gw staffers as a fun goof around game there are several loop holes and unanswered rules questions. We have play tested the game over the past year and will provide copies to coaches on the weekend. Please still do familiarize yourself with the basics so we can launch into the first round without too much confusion.

DATES:
The 2016 Brewhaus Bowl will be held on the weekend of May 28th-29th, 2016, and will be five games over two days (3 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday).

LOCATION:
McCabe's Irish Pub & Grill
www.mccabesirishpub.ca/Kitchener/
352 King St W
Kitchener, ON N2G 1B7
(519) 743-3400

COST:
$25, additional $5 for non-NAF members going towards NAF membership sign-up.

TOURNAMENT:

- Swiss-style match-ups after game 1.
- Bash rounds after game 1, 2, 3 and 4.
- Tournament points are W/T/L - 3/1/0
- Tiebreakers will be strength of schedule followed by TDs scored.

- Illegal procedures will not be called throughout the tournament.
- The 4 minute turn limit will not be specifically enforced throughout the tournament. There is however a strict time limit for each game. If an official believes that a game will not be completed within the allotted time they may enforce a 4 minute turn rule.

TEAM BUILD:
- 24 NAF sanctioned teams are eligible.
- Teams get 1.1 million gold to construct their roster.
- Star players can be purchased as part of a roster, but only after 11 roster players have been purchased. (In the case that opposing teams hire the same star, both teams will be allowed to use the player. )
- Teams must play with a minimum of 11 players.
- Teams can purchase Rerolls, apothecaries (if allowed), coaches, cheerleaders and fan factor, as they so choose.
- All teams may also include bribes as part of the roster as per the standard inducement cost.
- Chefs can only be purchased by halfling teams.
- No other inducements may be purchased (including wizards, cards, extra apothecaries, mercenaries, etc).

-This year skills will be based on a Tier System

FOUR: Halfling, Goblin, Ogre ~ 6 Normal ~ 2 Double

THREE: Chaos, Nurgle, Slann, Chaos Pact, Underworld, Vampire ~ 5 Normal ~ 2 Double

TWO: High Elf, Pro Elf, Khemri, Necro, Human ~ 5 Normal ~ 1 Double

ONE: All other races not listed above ~ 5 Normal ~ 0 Double

- Stars cannot be given skills.
- One player may only be given one skill.
- Each skill can be given to a maximum of two players per team (so 2 Guard is ok, 3 is not).

Bash Rounds:

Original rules set can be found here: http://rpg.by/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=15120

- Coaches will select a different player from their team roster for each Bash round
- The same player cannot brawl more than once as local authorities have been made aware of rowdy players smashing up pubs in the area
- Stars cannot be given skills even if they win a bash round
- Each pub will have 5 players in it with T.O. filling in if necessary.
-Each pub will produce a single winner that will be able to select from the rewards on a first come, first served order to encourage fast play and quick thinking.
- If player won previous BB game -1 to heath total, as they have been drinking their faces off in celebration.

- The winning brawler(s) will receive permanent skill additions for the remainder of the tournament:

- The winners of round 1 will be able to gain one skill from the passing skills.

-The winners of round 2 will be able to gain one skill from the agility skills.

-The winners of round 3 will be able to gain one skill from the strength skills.

-The winners of round 4 will be able to gain one skill from the general skills.

Few questions about the bash.

You say first come first serve, but it looks like each round has access to one specific tree. Is this instead talking about the skill choice can not be picked up by other tables?

Can a player with a skill take a second one from the bash?

Does the skill earned have to be a regular skill choice or can it be a doubles?

My bad, I will try to be as clear as possible.

"First come, First served" as in the winners of the bash rounds will be able to select from the skill tree identified. so if matt wins a bash round quickly he can pick form the skills first and then that skill is no longer available to be selected. So if Tom wins his bash round also but played slow and avoided the other players to try to outlast them he will not be able to select the skills that have already been taken by other winners.

Players that got skills from the original build CAN get a second from a bash.

A skill earned from a bash round CAN be a regular OR a double.

FUN!

important update gents: due to the table and booth size at the pub we will all have to play our matches with the landscape orientation aka fumbbl style

there is no way to play behind your own endzone. slightly unusual for the ontario scene but it is what it is. wanted everyone to have a heads up.

that being said if you have a 'classic' GW pitch with separate dugouts it might be good to bring it along, as FF-Fields puzzle boards with both dugouts on the same side will be a pain to play with.

yeah, no. lol

in the team creation section I say no star can be given skills and that also covers additional skills gained from bash rounds. stars could be in a bash if u want but cannot gain a skill from it.......

would be neat but not in the deal for this year. diff considered for next yr though

Hey All,

Just a few final notes to mention before we begin the weekend...

1. kitchener and waterloo roads are fucked. road closures change daily & the most direct routes are all torn up for the new rail system. msg me directly here, on fb on my cell if you need help getting to my place or the pub

2. friday and saturday night all are welcome to come for beers and board games at my place, same thing on contacting me for address etc. last year vanderby had 2 (!) whole beers

3. we will have at least 3 new players with us this weekend, please remember to be fair yet fun as we want to encourage them to come out again. our local players have made great progress but may still need clarifications on rules, skills, results etc. thanks

4. as much as possible please try to support our venue. if you need to run out and get lunch from a different place feel free but if you can spend your money at the pub they (and I) would be grateful. sat & sun morning you are welcome to bring in tims / micky dee's etc for breakfasts. the bar opens at 11am and kitchen opens at 2pm, try to plan your breakfast accordingly thanks-thanks

5. as no one has sent a roster in & i didnt ask PLEASE bring at least one printed copy of your roster. two would be great but im not going to lose sleep over it.

I am very excited for the weekend and cant wait for everyone to descend on Kitchener-Waterloo for the second year!
-thanks

@SewerRat That skeleton accomplished things no skeleton should.

Also Grant I ordered two piece fish and chips day 2 and they forgot about, so I never ended up eating. Maybe she forgot to delete the order after the fact.

Ken speaks from his own experience, as his Necros got heavily dumped on last Saturday.

I'll try and post the pics tonight.

OK, one last request: shoot me your feedback. I was very happy with the weekend but there is always room for improvement...

PM me here or on FB, twitter, etc.

I would love to know your opinion of any or all of the following: the venue, prizes, tourney structure, bash game, giveaways, swag & dice, or anything at all you would like to make suggestions on. Particularly for coaches that made it out last year and this year, how did you like or dislike the team build rules?

Remember I'm a teacher so you cant hurt my feelings, I want to know what you gents think. Just shoot me any constructive criticism you have. I want to keep making this tourney better and better for you lot.
