Post subject: What's your opinion on a Wild Animal ?

I'm wondering if I should take a Rat Ogre for my Skavens. I've always played with a rat ogre. It's realy fun playing with a Wild Animal but rolling Both Down Skull 3 times in a row for that forced 2 die block opponent choosing, really sucks And now I'm playing without a Rat Ogre for 2 matches both won, against the odd's. So could it just be luck or would it be the absence of my big rat ? Twisted Evil

Greetings from a confused skaven head coach

RO are/can be good, but will screw your game up at some point or another. If you take one, you have to accept you will get some turnovers. Once they've got Block and/or Pro they're not so bad.

My RO used to start in the backfield on defence, just to avoid being stuck in a bad situation. On offence LOS isn't so bad, as most of the time you can choose your blocks.

I'm undecided on wheter I'd start a team with one or not, and I've seen a split between coaches opinions to, so really I think it all comes down to coaches preference.

I use my Rat Ogre also as a defensive player Starting most of the time in the middle of the field 4 to 5 squares from endzone. But I will Make an exeption when Receiving and having a 1 turn touchdown GR on the pitch I than often use him to blow a gap in the defenseline of the opponent always using the frenzy skill That way it's all or nothing but will succeed I guess 3 out of the 4 times The only time this "tactic" reaaly stinks is when your opponent kicks off with a perfect defense or throws a blitz Then your really screwed !!!! Wild animal SUCKS! Mainly because it forces the player to make an action that can result in a turnover after 10 sec. Players that do not mind to sacrifice a player can make him run like hell down to the wild animal, if they can not get the ball, then get the wild animal.

However it is fun to have a player that can make your plan crash down, the wild animal should just not be forced to go first.

I wouldn't hesitate to field a WA. As soon as he gets Block, he'll be a great asset to your club. Just don't field him on the line. You also have to watch if you really want to blitz with him at the begining of your turn: sometimes, only moving him so that he can lend an assist is better !

WAs are very rarely a liability in the hands of a good coach. It takes a bit of practice, but you shouldn't be afraid to use them. They can be quite the playmakers in the right situation.

I love my minotaur. WA has gotten the better of me only twice, one time it was a calculated risk on my part to leave him exposed. The other was a blitz and some great rolling by a talented coach.

By the way Mel, my mino now has Claw on top of Block, so he's quite a pain in the a**!
