Death Bowl may be my 1st tournament.

I will most likely be playing CD becuase that's my fully painted team (well, besides goblins). I may finish up my elves or skaven in time, but for now I'm going to assume that I will be playing CD.

I get to assign 2 skills, 100k teams, no stars, no apoth, reset after each match. 1 new skill after 1st 3 matches. 2 new skills after 4th match. Only skills from the 4th match can be added to a player that already has one, and only one, skill.

What would YOU choose?
Interested in opinions as this would be my first tournament.

Thanks guys,
Rob

Depends on your staring roster. I suppose the specifics of the Death Bowl rules might influence me, too. If you have any Big Guys, take Block if you can get it. Beyond that, I'd focus on Guard, Dirty Player, and Sure Hands. But if every Death Bowl game is a 4-way affair, skip Sure Hands, because you'll probably never get that player in position to pick up the ball. Strip Ball on a player becomes a better choice.

Strip Ball on a BC. If you've got a troll then Piling On on him, or Break Tackle on the other BC instead.

In my experience, it's usually a good idea to have an idea of what strategy you're aiming for going into a tourney like this one. The only death bowl game I played I won, playing a goblin team against three bashies. The middle of the field has a tendency to just become a big scrum, and I don't think your dwarves have probably got the speed to get to the ball first anyways. I'd suggest sitting back, using the dwarves to defend your endzone, and the hobbos as your opportunists/help defend other endzones if the need arrizes.

As for skills, if I understand the rules correctly, you have to play several normal games first before the actual "Death Bowl" games begin. So I'd suggest just buying skills you need for those normal games, then pick up specialty stuff for the big game as the tourney goes along.

There are 4 regular matches before the DeathBowl round.
Here's how I'm thinking of spending my gold...

BC 130
Mino 110
CD x5 350
HG x5 200
FF 6 60
RR 3 150
----
$1M

I could also go with a troll in place of the mino, a 6th CD, only 4 HG's, and a FF of 4. (This would also give me incentive to paint me 2e Troll...)

Thanks for the feedback guys! Keep it coming Very Happy
