what's yours?

do you go for ones like american football ie elfhelm eagles sort of thing or do you go for sillier ones like big dave big butch men that are very sensative.

Just curious

mine new undead is Smiths Grove Shemps and if you can name the two different film references i'll be very impressed. you won't win anything.

currently trying to think of a nurgle based team name for my new chaos team... thought about the Rotter-dam Ravagers, but people might think I'm dutch.

I've also named all my players and each of them has their own history. I used my random team name generators for that.

Finally, my Norse team is called Dynamo Kislev, but I still have to paint them... Rolling Eyes

My teams are very dull, apparently, but they have so much history:

Warlords - humans
Phoenix Phantoms - high Elves
Villans - orc
Scuttlers - skaven
Small Fury - Chaos (Khorne) halfling
Unnatural Selection - horde team

Some of our league players have had classic names

Clar Karond Cobras - Dark Elf
Estalian Eagles - human
Khaines Killers - dark elf

Other players have gone completely off the wall in our league. There are themed names...

Special Treats
On Her Majesty's Secret Service
I expect you To Die

And daft names

Siminifrious Tubloidal Buttenoids
I Know What You Did Last Season
and then....
I Still Know What You Did Last Season
Do Sheep Expand In The Rain?
Nine Years Of Highly Defective People

Then there's this one guy...

Fargo Piano Assassins
Clockwork Thingvallavatn
Children Of The Monkey Basket
Thudd Bucket
Dread Harbingers Of Tea Time
Abstract Unknown Team

I don't know what he's on...

Oh and the most painful?

Norsemen Of The Apocalypse Mad

For many years I have only played Orcs, and they have always been Da Meathedz. In fact, Da Meathedz are rather legendary in Aussie cicrles, not for my winning reputation though. In fact, I'm not quite sure why, given that I don't win a lot and I don't kill many players!

I have recently started a Dwarf team, and I bowed to the pressure and named them after my football team (with a twist). My team (we're talking Super 12's rugby union here) are the ACT Brumbies, but I didn't want to be too cliched. So my new team (in Brumbies colours) are the Crookback Mountain Mustangs. So, there you have my two teams names. Smile

My three teams so far (yeah, newbie talkin') have been:

Washington Wardogs (humans named after the presidents),
Ravenhold Redcaps (Dwarves with no real theme), and
The Big Stong Nasty Guys Who Will Beat You Up (Night Goblins)

My buddies come up with some weird ones of their own, depending on the random name generator they last found:
Infectious Televangelists (Rotters with televangelist names)
Suicyd Kryme Gang (Skaven with gangsta names)
The Sneaks (Gobbos all named with adjectives ['Very Sneaky, Really Sneaky...] in three or four different languages)
Da Road Ruckers (I don't know wehre that came from...)

And a bunch more "Gladiators," "Stallions" kind of stuff.

Reminds me of a Second Edition team named "DWA": "Dwarves With Attitude." They featured such players as The Flesh Prince, Orange J, and Slavr Slav. I once ran with this idea for some Goblins named the "Def Pass Ambushers." It was fun while it lasted Wink

On a player-name tangent: I used to name all my Ghouls after food. Not just any food, mind you, but such things as "Chili Taco," "Caesar Salad," and "Filet Mignon." Ah, the good old days...

I suggest "Crimson City Cleavers." And since the locals used that back in '91 playing Second Edition - for Orcs, mind you - I'm confident it predates that obviously stolen moniker! Wink

Why not "Mordheim Marauders"? Or "R.O.T.T."? "Uncle Fester and the Sores"? Mr. Green

Let me think...
- my first team ever (in 2nd Ed.) was called Screaming Skaven (Skaven obviously Wink )
next was Bretonia Shadowhawks (Human)
then New Orc Yunkies (obviously again, Orc´s Wink )

My first team in 3rd Ed. was called Apostle Allstars (Chaos)
then Northern Nightmares (Norse)
next Holywood Avengers (Wood Elf)
followed by Boten Ragnarogs (Norse)
and currently Erengrad Cowboys (Human)

Some other teamnames used in our league through the years :

Nasty Little Bastards (Goblin)
Parravon Paladins (Bretonian)
Undermountain Undertakers (Dark Elf)
Throat Cutters (Orc)
Mordors Destroyers (Orc)
Charming Sisters (Amazon)
Ruthless Ratskins (Skaven)
Auerheim Angels (High Elf)
Freakin´ Beasts (Chaos)
Thule Benbrytare (Norse)
Hunters of Hades (Undead)
Altdorf Cowboys (Human)
Ankh Morpork Giants (Dwarf)
Karak Courage Kohlekumpel (Dwarf)
Cologne Crusaders (Bretonian)
Broderhood of da Blind River (Orc)
Partisan Barad-Dûr (Orc)
New World Order (Chaos Dwarf)
Kel´Thuzad Shadows (Dark Elf)
Crushin´ Fists (Orc)
Marvelous Madness (Skaven)
Bugmanns Gesellen (Dwarf)

And now three names I heard years ago in another league :

1. The Orc Machine
2. Those who killed The Orc Machine
3. Those who killed Those who Killed The Orc Machine

thats all... Wink

Midsummer Nightmares (W-Elves named after fairies)

Northwood Bashing Bunnies (Shadowforge bunny team) - names are taken from mine and my fiancees kids - (she is the coach!)

Blood Bank (Vampires) - the thralls are named for their blood type- including the infamous HIV positive!

Blindwyrm Plaguerats - (Skaven Plague Monk team)

Well for me, my Skaven started out as the Bloodshed Bandits then after a few years I changed them to the Blighted Bloodshed Bandits then after much thought & some advice, I came up with the current name I use for them. The Hell Pit Wildrats .

As far as other races, I was using Khemri for awhile, & they were called Settra's Tomb Guard .

For a Lizardmen team I came up with Slannchester United .

If I ever do a Goblin team it will be the Bog City Gobstoppers

My Halfling team idea is the Happy Valley Berry Boys

For Orcs the name I will use is Da Warthogz , I did however come up with an Orc name for a friend's team, it was the Waaaaaashington Greenskinz

For Chaos I helped a friend with his theme of a Damonette team called the Brides of Slannesh (is that spelled right?) If I ever do a Chaos team it will be St. Lucifer's Rams

For an Amazon team I was thinking the Lustrian Ladies of the Lake (ya I know its a bit long) But for RR counters have arms coming out of water holding swords.

I was toying with a human idea of a team based kinda on such BB teams like the Mongral Horde or the Underworld Creepers (bassically a team full of ***holes who do nothing but argue & blame oneanother when something goes wrong) I'd call them something like the Motley Clan Outlaws or Motley Clan Highlanders or Motley Clan ?

Although as far as painted all I have is my Hell Pit Wildrats too bad my painting skills or my drive to paint is not up to par with my imagination for creating the teams.

Rod.

Over the years I have used:

Cthrag Yaska Protectors (human) Player names taken from a David Eddings series of books.

Dragon Riders of Pern (???). Player names taken from dragon riders series by Anne McAfree.

Several Deadly Siners (Orc) Player names are "sins" Slot, Gluttony, Greed, Envy, ...

Warner Blooders (several races but most appropriate to the Wiley Skaven of the MBBL2) Players names were play on words of character name. E.g. Elfbasher Fudd, Bloods Bunny, Yosimity Slam. I often use this theme for any race since I am a big fan of WB animation.

Fearless Drunken B@sterds (norse). Players are named after Beers from around the world. Also since they are fearless I put all 11 on the line when we start on defense. Surprisingly it isn't that bad a strategy. Until you come across some leaping elves or skaven gutter runners.

Natural Disasters (any elf team I play) Players are named after natural disasters. Flood, Forest Fire, ...

Martha's Little Toys (chaos halfling strength). Players were named after kitchen utensils. There is an almost endless supply of name. Used large appliances for the Yum. Good for stunty teams with high turn over.

Cereal Killers (???). Players names after breakfast cereals. The coach has to be General Mills. Just a perfect name for a coach of a team called the cereal killers (imo).

Awesome Alliterations (Nurgle's Rotters). Players are named after TV/Cinema actors, character with cool alliterations for names, Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Peter Parker, ... I try to keep with the superhero theme.

Almost forgot my current table top Chaos team the Hard Lickers (Chaos). Players named after various types of hard liquour.

I have a couple others that haven't been put into use. But plan to eventually

Car Talk (Robot). From the NPR call in show. They have a list of bogus staff positions with "appropriate" names. I like them for robots since there really are no robot positions so I can create positions. E.g. Sal Manilla Position food tester. Picov Endroppov position Russian Chauffer. Wayne Deback position Warehouse manager.

Inclimate Weather (Elementalist). Various types of weather terms, Heat Wave, Cold Snap, Blizzard, Falling Mercury, ...

Hitchhikers Guide to BB (???) Player names taken from all FIVE books in Douglas Adam's TRILOGY, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

The Mad Cows - Minotaurs (3.5 ed), under the crazy-go-nuts Wild Animal Rules. They didn't score much.

Femmes Fatale - Amazons (3.5 ed) using Shadowforge Gridiron babes.

Low Down Dirty Ratz - Chaos (3rd ed).

Huggly Snugglies - Ogres (MBBL2), all named after muppets.

Real Geniuses - More Ogres (MBBL), all named after Real Life Geniuses

The Executives - Chaos Warrior (MBBL2), named after US presidents.

Ordinary Average Guys - Heroes of Law (MBBL2), no real theme to the name, except that Dwarves had 1 syllable names, Humans had 2 syllable names, and Elves had 3 syllable names. The treeman is Woody (of course), and the token halfling (all the other positions were maxed) is Bradford Underwood Timothy Charles Hoppenpopper. Currently the highest TR in MBBL2

The Restless Dead - Spirit (MBBL2), all named after famous dead people.

Dwarf Warhammerers
Lowdown Ratz
Champions of Death

My teams
Xlanhuapec Salamanders (lizardmen)
Darkside Sirens (supposed to be the cheerleaders of the Cowboys gone pro, using wood Elf rules and shadowforge Elf figs)
Magritta Dolphins (halfling, human and elf mixed team with treeman - house rules based on the old Star players book - so 8 halflings, 5 humans, 2 Elves and the Treeman)
Brackenheim Bunnies (Amazon rules using the Shadowforge bunnie figs, painted purple and pink Laughing )
Doomfire Panathers (Dark Elf team)

Teams in planning stages
Dwarf Giants
Darkside Cowboys
Riekland Reavers (once new Humans come out)
Morgheim Manmanglers a.k.a the Badland Babes (going to be using that new shadowforge female Orc team Mr. Green )

I think it was Bloodbowl Alive if I remember correctly. I couldn't get the thing to run on this system, it needs a much older one and I couldn't be bothered with downloading all the bumf to get it to work. Laughing

Team wise, I've got
New Moria Giants - Dwarf
Menzoberranazan Doom spiders - Dark Elf
Krimson Death - Chaos
Da Skullsmasherz - Orc
Storm~Peak PlagueRats - Skaven
...and about 4 more on the way... just need the time yo play 'em! Crying or Very sad

Well New Moria won 6 out of 7 of our majors, and won about 90% of their matches, so I obviously liked them alot Very Happy

I hate the Doom Spiders, the bleendin' things are cursed Skull <1-skull-skull-1-1-1-1-1-1-skull-skull-skull-6(!!!)-1-1-1-1-1-skull-skull>

Loving my Orcs, they're about 210TR now, so they're starting to punch their weight.

Chaos are pretty good too. I have a Minotaur with Block/Claw (and so obviously mighty blow on Inj), add horns and frenzy in to that and most teams in out league refuse to go near him Twisted Evil

Storm~Peak are quite new and something different. I like them, they're my best shot at getting my TDs off the track.

Probably Orcs and Chaos (you just gotta love Vorg Bloodhorn Twisted Evil ) top teams at the moment, even though the ratties are doing best in the league. Go figure.

I have once or twice started a Dark Elf-team and it's difficult, but that was when the rules were still 'old'. To be honest, I haven't played with the new rules, and as it looks casualties are not everything so "weaker" teams do have bigger chance of developing.

I was thinking, after having done my first ever Human-team (out of cadian troops), I'd make a Snotling team Smile just for the fun of it, 'cos Fanatic Magazine had rules for them Smile

Well, my other teams I've played with are: Orcs, Undead and Chaos. I love the Orcs(!) and also the Undead, of course (argue against and you'll end up hexed!). Smile

First of all, Welcome to NAF! Smile (not that I'm a Veteran around here Smile ).

Yeah, I saw the new Human Team in the last Fanatic magazine and thought they look pretty nice(!) and first I thought, darn it! Why am I converting a team now that there's a new team out there, but, I thought converting makez it all worth it and also special. Smile

The Rats of the Three Kingdoms (Skaven)-Named after characters from Three Kingdoms Era China (Guang Yu, Lu Bu, etc)

Maidens of Misandry (Amazon)

King's Blood (Human)-Using names from the card game of the same name

Mission Accomplished (Necro)-Named after famous US Republican Politicians

Flowers from Heaven (Dark Elves)-Named after Angels with flowery epithets (Yuriel, the Burning Lily of Judgement, etc)

Itadakimasu! (Lizardmen) - Named after sushi, the skinks are all various maki and the saurus are nigiri.

Happy to be on board,

Here is the names in our league the DBBL (Dragonfyre Blood Bowl League).

Skavenblight Grey's (Skaven)
Cambyl Claymores (Norse)
Ginnungagap Giants (Chaos)
Toxic Goddesses (Amazon)
Naggaroth Nightriders (Dark Elf)
Tabazco Hell-Cats (Amazon)
Ghyrnnbae Packers (Elf)
New Quetza Saints (Lizardman)
Middenheim Wolfpack (Human)
Orcland Raiders (Orc)
Dwarf Giants (Dwarf)
Athelorn Avengers (Wood Elf)

We all have two teams, the Dwarf Giants & New Quetza Saints are mine. There is a few of us that played 2nd Edition BB way back when, during that time we never thought about making our own new teams we thought the game was meant to be played with the existing 40 league teams, so thats what we played with. As you can see those old teams (Dwarf Giants, Orcland Raiders, and Athelorn Avengers) still bring back alot of memories of good times as kids to us. We can't help but bring a little bit of the past into our current league.
