I'll be there boys! I know that you guys will probably want to nominate me as the team captain, but I will let that honour rest on someone else's shoulders. I am going to be too busy preparing my newest team for the tourney - although I have noit decided which one that will be! (Torn between two...)

Huh?

Yes, we know Dan is going.

War is bad. But only having one word in a sentence is worse.

I'll give you a grammar lesson free of charge after I give you a lesson in Blood Bowl that is going to cost you your pride!

Get ready for beating Monsieur Notorious!

I am working to get another team done by the tourney. Have gathered most of the required pieces and am starting assembly of the team now. Will be a pinch to get them done on time, but I work best with a deadline!

Weren't everybody from the West last year?

There's no way I'll get my new team done in time for the tournament, so I'll have to bring one of my "old" teams. Tempted to bring Goblins, but my Eastern buddies may refuse to have me in their team. Smile

BTW, are the rules posted anywhere? Will want to read them up before I pick a team.

Not sure if I will make it or if any Niagara Boyz will be there at all (but the whole East vs West perplexes me)

I know Peter is the odd man out so he will be East or West if an odd number attends.

But what if the attendance is .....

From Ottawa area
Glenn J
Adam J
Joe B
Marc-Andre
Dan Ch

From Toronto Area
Craig T-W
Ben T
Eric R
Dan Ca

Niagara Area
Rod D
Rob P
Joe M

Right there you have 12 (Peter you don't play) but what region gets divided?)

Does one Niagara go west & the other two east?

But some could argue that Niagara is further west than Toronto (so maybe in the above situation Toronto should get divided)

Not trying to be a Shyt disturber, just trying to offer optional situations!

I would brek it down to be specific as possible in this case. So based on where everyone lives (not just major region I would get this:

East:
Glenn J
Adam J
Joe B
Marc-Andre
Dan Ch
Eric R

West:
Rod D
Rob P
Joe M
Craig T-W
Dan Ca
Ben T

This would make the E/W dividing line run down the middle of Brampton along Hwy 10/Hurontario/Main St.

The other option would be to place the most easterly of the Niagra boys onto the East team if you used a Pure North-south division line (which in the end should be used; but seeing that I do not know their exact locations I went with what I knew to illustrate the point.

Not really. There was George and I rep'ing the west with Pete and his friend rep'ing the east. But in the end, with the low turn out, Pete decided we were all winners. I like to think of it as Timbits Blood Bowl Very Happy

Just a note on the location of the tourny: The location will not show up on many of the maping programs (Google, MapQuest, etc.) and even some GPS's since they apparently do not think Cobourg is important enough to update their databases. I will post direction from the 401 off ramp on the tourny site by the end of the week

Two things I want to double check.
1) The "Captain" can have two skills + leader(mandatory skill)?
2) Do the skill advancements after each round apply for all coaches or does the T.O. roll for each coach separately?

The west side bi-atches will get a beating from the over-powering east side powerhouse.

1) The Captain must have atleast 2 skills. On of which must be leader.
2) If I recall from last year it was one roll that affected all coaches.

Also do not forget the special rules affecting the East Side:

a) One of the coaches from the East Side team must be nominated as "Little Pup"
b) Little Pup must have at lease two excuses. One of which must be why he continually lets his team down.
c) The Little Pup is not required to supply his own miniatures, in fact he must not even bring any of his own. His teammates are required to supply a team for the Little Pup.
d) Any trophies owned by the Little Pup are considered gto be null and void as surely one with so little incentive could have possibly earned it by fair means.

I like how the East is stacking up, I'll take Rod from Niagara on the East team and we're good to go. After his staggering performance at Bongo despite his sleeping on the pool tarp we can utilize his skills...Notorius might have a few words to say about it first though lol. We also have a few more possibilities from the East division as well,

Chris W
Rob K (now back in ottawa)
Patrick G
Mark D
Stephan
Mike O

Will have to see about their availability and gauge their ability...LOL. But I think we will have the East well represented come tourney time.

Either way it is irrelevant as we will surely dominate what little opposition the West can muster. Razz

whilst i love the possibilty of infighting in team west, i must point out to M. Rubli that Spazz is hacking on jrock56, as "lil pup" is his nickname for him. Sorry Eric - not trying to show you direspect! You's the man!

I did mean to say (and have summarily edited) my post. I mean to say that it was the east side that is going to be needing to nominate a "little pup".

Just trying to point out that the East side is going to be having a very sad drive home, but it may be safer for the Little Pup to walk or take a bus, as he is going to be letting his team down so badly that it would not be safe for him to be in a car with his teammates back to Ottawa!

Big Dog got his as* tamed last tourney guess its time to teach a few more lessons of humility. I ignored the last post because it was properly placed to begin with, you'll need that tag of lil pup for yourself or a teamate as the defeats will start to mount and you'll need the excuses just to save face. More like "rolling" skulls!

In a strange way that is the best you can hope for because at least that way you can blame your pitiful tournament performance on the dice!

Bongo was, is and always will be my bitch. I am just pimpin' that bastard monkey out to you for a while!

The hurt I am going to be bringing to the Eastern Goofy Goober Squad (EGGS) is going to be so bad that they Peter is going to be well advised to put counsellors in Ottawa on call to deal with your crushed spirits as you slink back into the nation's capital.

The countdown to carnage has begun boyz. It is time to separate the men from the pups! I suggest the EGGS start gathering extra newspapers as you will have some housbreaking to do when we are done with you! Cool

Looking at a map Harwood is slightly to the east of Cobourg, but it is more likely that we are going to need to even the team out on the Western side. Happy to encourage tournament attendance, so please do come out and we will find a spot for you.

Actually where I live in Harwood I fall west of where the tournament is held so does that mean I'll be carried by the west. Cause I love two dice blocks against...

Do teams resurect there dead in this tournament? I have to to know cause I gots some painting to do... I'm one of those players.

Yeah, there is not a tournament that I am aware of in Ontario (still running) that is not the "resurrection style" tourney. So all teams will reset their injuries after every round.

And gotta ask about the NAF handle "Diaperman" do you attend casinos regularly or are you just in need of a little more reassurance?

But it's all cool - 'cuz onceI'm done with those Eastern EGGS, you will not have been the only one to have crapped your pants at the touney! Laughing

I also left out the Team Name/Race selection as it has been dicussed several times that certain coaches like to choose their team at the last minute based on what others are bringing. So I decided to remove this info to to fair to everyone.

I am working hard to get my team done in time, but with all the conversion work still going into this one it is going to be tight....

I have worked out a backup team in case my first choice is not ready in time. But either way it will be a team that I have never taken to a tourney before.

Diaperman, really glad that you will join us. You can ignore the loud mouths in this forum, they're all bark and no bite. They are harmless folks, really. Razz Razz

For the East vs. West, where you fall really depends on who comes. The idea is to have the same number of coaches in each team. So if there are lots of people from Ottawa/Montreal, you'll probably play for the West. If there are lots of people from Toronto/Niagara, then you'll probably play for the East.

But unlike your comment Dwarfrunner, although true in most cases, I talk the talk because it is what takes the game to another level, without it the game would be somewhat dull after awhile. In addition I can back up my talk with anyone out there. Two equal players will usually come down to the dice rolls and I like my odds when that is the case in most games.

One question Spazz, should I bring Bongo to pester you at Lakeside, I know how you like spending time with him...lol...he seems more at home in my trophy case however.

Oh I picked up on it, but chose to speak to other things.

Let's Check the Record of the most recent tourneys dating backward this past year:

Bongo Bowl: Myself - East
Daggerbowl: Rod - Eastman player in a Westman's body
Quermitt: Glenn- East
CCKO: Leathan- East
Deathbowl IV:Joe- East

Does anyone notice an ongoing trend...Eastern dominance is an ongoing thing. Laurent can't help, Spazz is and always will be my Bi*ch, Eric...well wooden spoon ring a bell, Dan the jury is still out, Rod only real player of substance here! read above under Daggerbowl. Then you look over to the East and it's, champion, another champion...and another, you get the point. Fairytales are not reality westside come back to the light.

Take it easy boys, by the way your all dead in T-minus 10days and counting.

Agreed.

Of course this may have been an intentional spelling, as Joe was suggesting that like a bunch of whores, they are going to lay down and submit to our domination and then we will leave (with trophies in hand).

For a start - the last Deathbowl was Deathbowl V (sheesh! should know the tourney in his own backyard!)

now let's look at my record vs. you mutts:
Leathan - he has esc aped my wrath to date. This will change and I will school the young lad.

Rod - at Bongo was the first time that he was able to beat me in a game of Blood Bowl (not including the time that we were forced to play overtime and I was playing halflings)

Glenn - Granted, the Big Dog has destroyed me every time we have played - his friggin armour rolls are unbelievable! Butg newsflash! He ain't coming! Can't hide behind your big brother this time beeyotch! Maybe the Little Pup should stop barking so much!

Joe - I tied (and almost beat) this guy when he was playing his best team (orcs) and I was playing vampires. 'Nuff said.

You - Yap yap yap! You have still to beat me little pup! You had better pray to the gods of mercy that you get the kick of esults that are going to save you like they did at the CCKO!

Face it. You boys got nothin!

I was clearly writing french, and bain is bath in french.

Ok spazz, the west can't get out of this eastern dominance on a technicality.

Bongo Bowl 08: Adam - East
Daggerbowl I: Rod - Eastman player in a Westman's body
Quermitt 08: Glenn- East
CCKO 08: Leathan- East
Deathbowl V: Joe- East
Niaggaroth bowl 07: Joe- East
Bongo Bowl 07: Spazz- West
Lakeside cup 07: Peter- Middle
Qermitt 07: Joe- East
Canadian open 07: Paul- really far east
CCKO 07: Joe- East
Deathbowl IV: Peter- Middle

It really has been an east side domination since the start of 07 and this event will only solidify that.

One of the things I love so much about the tourneys is not the numerous victories that I lord over the east, but rather the comraderie of the players and getting together with friends from all over the province. Each tourney is like a reunion where we all meet again and then get down to some serious drinking and not serious smack talk!

Here are some of the "cultists"

Here are some of the lesser beasties - still waiting for the heads I wanted to arrive in the mail, otherwise will have to go with my Plan B, which I just may....

Here is one of the larger beasties - still need to get the wings for him ( and paint him obviously)

Well let me be the first to say thanks to Peter and his wife for having us over this weekend and running what is becoming more widely known as the "best value for your money tournament"!

It was extremely close, it came down to me having to make a GFI with a reroll and I failed, thus losing the game. If I had then it would have been 50 points for either side, as it was the East boys managed to (somehow) work out a win with a final score of 52-49.

Despite me getting a bit "intense" at times I had a great time and look forward to the Lakeside Cup again next year!

Let me preface by noting that the East boys tend to do much better than the West in tourneys and so we did not expect the tourney to be as nail-bitingly close as it was! The fact that the West could have won if I had not failed a GFI with a free reroll still haunted me as I tried to sleep last night! The east certainly has some dominant players on their team including the top ranked coach in Canada (Notorious JTB). I think that the east could have made this tourney a blowout, and even have made it so that after the first day that it was going to be impossible (or next to) for the West to catch up, which then makes it less exciting for everyone.

But it was Mr. Notorious who deserves some special recognition in this regard. This is the number one coach in Canada, this is the man who won the last Deathbowl with goblins. Goblins. Yet in a very sporting attitude he decided to take a team that he completely sucked with in order to be more sporting and to make the tourney more interesting for us all. Good on you Joe.

Despite screaming in my ear and nearly busting an ear drum at the point of my failed GFI, I still think that you should get the Sporting award. Your complete inability to win a game (Eric notwithstanding) shows an altruistic spirit in making the tourney more fun for us all!

I will give it to Joe. He did help coach me through a tough battle. Though I think it was the fact that the faster I scored the more time would score Razz

Shouldn't the "is" be a "was" considering that Lizardcore has now aligned himself with the mapleleaf?

I stand corrected! (By a diaper-clad man no less....) Last I checked, Laurent was stiill listed under France, but now he is ranked as #1 in Canada (and this is not even including his stats from the Lakeside Cup.

Ug. this probably means that we are going to be seeing a LOT of Joe's orcs for the next while as he tries to catch up with Laurent!

Wow, I do seem to be quite Notorious, non?

It is all very flatering Wink

Despite my rats(skunks) behaving poorly the weekend was very fun, and many thanks to Peter and Tami for being marvelous hosts! I truly felt very welcome and wonderfully cared for.

With regard to my performance, it was always about the team. I did exactly what was required of me to gain a victory for the EASTSIDE!
4real!

I am glad I was able to help Eric get his trophy, that made me feel very proud Laughing
He was very unfortunate to roll like I had in previous games Crying or Very sad

@ Spazz, don't beat yourself up, a quick calculation of the TDs scored by each team showed that even if you had made that roll the EASTSIDE would still have won on TDs scored, by 65 TDs - 59 TDs. (wins have to be even if scores are tied).
p.s. I was planning on using that altruistic line myself Wink
p.p.s. Sorry about the ear drum Embarassed

@ Lizardcore. Welcome to Canada! Nice to have some serious competition Laughing Laughing Laughing
That stargate line, ouch Surprised

@ Clan-Skaven, well it certainly felt like the Universe was ending on saturday, guess I didn't have enough incentive. I may possess more next time............

@ Diaperman, enjoy the warpstone buddy. Next time all you'll be eating will be my touchdowns Cool

@ Team Eastside. Good work on keeping it interesting ladz. Way to go, much better to give you oponents hope and to snatch it away at the last second than to crush them into the ground in just 3 rounds Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

There is one point that has not been made as of yet, Some of the Westside had there best tournament and talk of how we could have blown them out, and some of the East had there worst tournament by far and yet the simple fact is that the East still won despite the West's best efforts they could bring forth. Next year normalcy will resume and it will surely be that blowout you so desire.

Anyhow boys take it easy and hope to see some of you at Niagaroth in September

Amazing tournament Pete. Best one I have been at so far. Give my thanks to Tammy for the amazing array of food and putting up with us smelly and snore-agores. I will definately be back next year.

Sorry for the late reply, ....

Awsome job Peter, big thanks to yourself & your wife for a very awsome weekend!

I look forward to next year, !

Peter I came up with some number crunching for next year if different numbers show up, send me a pm if interested in hearing my ideas.

Congrats to the East, but also us in the West only lost by a slim 3 points, so I think a congrats is needed to my team mates as well. Lets home next year can be as close as this year!

Rod

Thanks once again to all!

Awesome job Peter (and more importantly Tammy for the food),
Had fun, and was very full when I left (which is not an easy feat for me). Will gladly be there next year.
Hopefully the stench cleared out of the house in a reasonable amount of time and you weren't forced to sleep with the lingering smell or anything.

When will the rankings get entered? Looking forward to see how many tourneys I have to go to to get ahead of JTB and his Orcs. Wink

Hey Peter, just noticed in the results that mine are doubled for the tourney. My record shows 2-6-4, when it was really 1-3-2. Anyhow just thought I would give you a heads up as to what may be the problem.

good work for entering the results Peter, there are always issues the first time you do a tournament, the results entry form is shy and is only friends with people it knows Smile

ouch

after 4W /1D /1L, my ranking changed +0.6 Very Happy (If you don't take count of the double up)
Tiyng against the notorious brit'newbie cost me as much as I could get for a win against the other ones o.O

I think I'd better find a new team to play Razz

Apart of that, the game order is fine for me.

Clan_Skaven - Sep 09, 2008 - 01:54 AM

if ya need a hand with the game order I remember mine...

---------------------------------------------------------------------

To give you an idea how you post the results in the future.....

Lets say you have 8 people. Players A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H

Round one

A 3 vs B 0
C 2 vs D 4
E 3 vs F 3
G 1 vs H 6

Round two

H 1 vs A 4
D 3 vs F 4
E 0 vs C 1
B 0 vs G 0

As you notice in each round only the actual games played in each round are recorded.

For example lets look at team (A) Team A won 3-0 in round one & won 4-1 in round two. but in those 2 results we see teams B & H record losses. now in those two rounds with just looking at team A we see not just team A's results for rounds 1 & 2 but also team B (round one) & team H (round 2) . So if you later include Team B's result for turn one & Team H's result for turn two, you will duplicte the matches they had vs, team A.

I hope this helps clarify any missunderstandings ...

Most importantly, ...... if You are unsure how to post results its probably better to ask than just to guess.

Take care all, Rod

Pete knows what the problem is. He knows the order of games and everything. Problem was just the time stamp for each game. The data inputted so far needs to be deleted by a mod and then re-entered with the correct time. As I say, I believe pete has it under control but some bits he will need to wait for mod help.

As I mentioned before, the fixing is a two stage process. Stage 1 has been done (putting the results in with the correct time stamp) which has increased the # of games played.

Stage 2 requires a moderator to delete all the time 0 games for us (these are the first 12 fixtures for each coach).

Once stage 2 has occured we will be all sorted Smile
