Many coaches dubbed this event "best tournament of the year", because of the team spirit and the amazing food! Don't miss it this year.

223 Ruttan Terrace
Cobourg, Ontario

directions: http://rubli.ca/lakeside-cup/

Team creation
Coaches have 1250 GP to build there team (LRB6/CRP + 3 non-GW rosters). This can be use to buy players, 0-2 star-players (If a star-player is present in two teams playing each other, the star players are a bit confused, but still playing as normal), apothecary, and skills. Halflings can hire a Master Chief for 100kGP. Goblins and Underworld can purchase Bribes at a cost of 50kGP. Skills cost: Regular skills (20kGP), "Double" skills (30kGP), Mouv and AV (30kGP), AG (40kGP) and ST (50kGP).

Each Team has a Captain and two Assistants:
The Captain has the "Leader" skill for free, and has to have at least one other skill purchased. There is no limit to the number of skills the captain has.
The Assistants may have up to 2 skills.
The other players may have ONLY ONE skill.
Star Players cannot be Captains nor receive a skill during team creation.

Scoring system & game pairing
Most likely, the first four games will be randomly decided (so a coach of the West will play 4 different coaches of the East). The last 2 games might be decided by the TO to have the best players facing each other.

team points
2 points for win towards team
1 point for tie towards team
0 point for loss towards team

individual points
3 points for win
1 point for tie
0 point for loss

for tie breaks:
1. points
2 . wins
3. touch downs
4. plus/minus of both td and casualties
5. head to head

Team progression
This is a Swiss-type tournament. Everything is reset after each game: no after-match sequence is required (no gain of gold, experience, fan factor and the injured come back).
The Captains get a further upgrade after each game.

You can register or contact me by PM.
Laurent, on behalf of Pete.

Yeah, but Cramy crammed it in his cram hole and has not been around for a while, so the East lost their best player.

I think the East have been lulled into their false sense of security for long enough! Time to take it to them!

Go West!

Yeah, cuz since Cramy hasn't been around we have had a hard time winning against the West. Oh wait, no, we still won 99% of the time. Apparently Laurent is the only one that can win any games on the West. So now they may get afew more points. Still not enough to win, but afew.

I think I remember a 54 matches played with only 1 Victory from the West...weren't there 5 guys on the East with a 6-0 record!!! Hell I finished 8th out of 9 players on the East that year going 4-1-1. Last year the West tried to put there best foot forward but just ask Tristan how that turned out Very Happy I remember a 10-1 mancount advantage for the West and they still couldn't put it in the endzone!!!

Better not be another 40k tournament. You will be missed.

Taxal mentioned he would likely not be coming, but Pat and I will convince him otherwise. There are afew from Montreal other than Taxal that will likely come. 2-3, but I will get them to coordinate and confirm.

JTB will likely never play in a tournament for a very long time, same with Cramy. Cramy has just too much going on right now, and JTB...well.....yeah.

hmm, well..yeah eh!!

I don't have much going on it's true Smile

I would love to come along, but it really isn't that feasible time wise. I put pretty much all of my tournament eggs into the World Cup basket this year.

I travel too much with work to feel good about leaving the family for tournaments, this year at least. I hope to make a triumphant return next year to at least a few events....
fingers crossed.

Spazzfist - Jun 25, 2011 - 09:47 PM
Post subject:
I just spoke with Peter tonight and he wants everyone to be aware of a couple of changes to the tourney:

1) There are going to be TWO assitant captains on the team. This means there will be the Captain (who can get unlimited number of skills), the TWO assistants who can get two skills each, and then everyone else on the team is limited to one skill each.

2) There is going to be a format in place to encourage more diversity in the races being played. East and West coaches will count the number of different races that they are playing. If one side has a greater number of races being represented, then each coach on that team (East or West) will get +1 FAME for the entire tournament. Should one team (East or West) have double the number of races being respresented then every coach on that team (East or West) will get +2 FAME for the tournament. These FAME bonuses will be in addition to any FAME earned through the Fan Factor roll at the beginning of the game.

For example, there are sixteen coaches, so eight on the East, and eight on the West. The East (being a bunch of gits) take only four races (Dwarves, Dwarves, Dwarves, Dwarves, Dwarves, Orcs, Norse, Chaos Dwarves). The West (realizing the true intent of the tournament) diversify their races and take seven different teams (Nurgle, Orc, Orc, Skaven, Dwarves, Amazons, Lizardmen, Khemri). Because they have more races represented than the East, all West coaches will get the +1 FAME for the tourney. If they had taken a full eight different races, then they could have secured +2 for the entire tourney.

hi guys

don;t forget you only have 1,250,000 gc. also you are giving the leader skill for free, and after every game the leader (captain) is the only one to receive a skill increase. besides the leader you have two assistants that can have up to two skills...last year i allowed just one assistant..but two years ago i had this same format as i am doing this year! (leader and two assistants)
the change of the bonus of plus 1 fame was a way of having a wide range of teams. just to clarify this is coming from me and any questions please call or give me an email and i hope i can clear up any confusion anyone might have

Very interesting rule. But since we are not sure exactly who is coming out and will be playing on each team, then planning ahead for this is near impossible. I like it. Funny if it ends up being a tie this year.

I see the rules here are not what Pete agreed to when talking to me, its not supposed to be FAME, it was supposed to be FF, but the FAME bonus is not a huge deterant. It's supposed to be FF,....

example, if the East has 8 teams & of those 8 teams onle 4 are not repeated, than all the East teams have a FF of 4, but if the West has all 8 teams different races, then they have an 8 FF, I talked to Pete for hours on this, so either he was has changed his mind or Spazz convinced him to change it, or its been confused....(just going by what Pete agreed on with me)

Post subject: rule change for lakeside cup
Sorry everybody for the confusion
but the diversity rule is off the table which means bring what ever team you like
because there will be NO handicap rule. The reason for this change is i wanted to see many different races take place, but i found that i didn't want to be pushy on telling people what teams they can bring, so again iam sorry, i just would like everyone to attend and have lots of fun.

So the website is up but it doesn't mention that you can have two assistants,,so to clarify: you have a captain that is given a free leader skill and two assistants that can have up to two skills and the remaining players can purchase one skill if you have any money leftover...

sorry for the headache boys ,,pete

The WEST is stronger now that I'm here. That's right I'm back to defend my title but it means alienating a whole different group of people as it looks that I'll be in the east. I just have to paint my dwarfs now...

However, it will only be 2 of us this year again. The midget is bitching out again.

They kind of frown upon that at the border, but I could give it a try.

We plan to be there about 8 O'clock, but the border is going to be the big determining factor in that time frame.

Hey Gents, update from Ottawa guys we should be arriving around 6-6:30pm on Friday...luckily for the West Glenn decided to go to a concert this weekend, Leathan isn't making it and I have yet to hear anything from the guys in Montreal. We may be without a few top guns it looks like in our arsenal...doesn't mean we won't still be victorious of course but it may make it a challenge now Razz

@ Bjorn, I may be doing that as it looks like they may be one of 3 possibilities at this point ( that is of course if your playing for the East again, I may forget to take them out of the car if your back on the West team Very Happy ) Kidding, if I don't end up using them I don't mind at all.
See everyone tomorrow night for some good partyin' this weekend!

Congratulations to the East on their victory and thanks to all my team-mates. We may have lost but we kept it interesting until the last round! Although I know he won't read this because he's too busy having his mullet of spun-gold lovingly groomed by his saint of a wife a big thanks must go out to Peter and Tammy Meers for their unparalleled hospitality.

Mind you... I call Tammy a saint but I'm sure that she serves chili for lunch on Sunday as a way to get back at us for farting up her house for an enitre weekend, particularly if you're riding with Rod. Laurent: is your car still worth selling?

For those interested, I wrote a more detailed recap on my blog:

Hope to see you all at the Warpstone Cup!

Big thank you's to Pete and Tammy for running another awesome event. One of my favourites to attend every year, gotta love the team aspect to the tournament. Thanks for putting all of us up at your home and putting up with us for the past couple days! I think wapcaplets said it best above "unparalleled hospitality"

Thank you to all my opponents for the fun and excitement, some very intense games over the weekend (especially Chris) was an epic Dwarf vs Orc battle right down to the wire. Hope to make it to Warpstone in September and will see some of you there or at Deathbowl in October, take care all Very Happy

I would also like to thank Pete and Tammy for lending us their house for a weekend of carnage, food and fun.

Hey Chirs:

"I’m still relatively new to the whole Blood Bowl tournament scene and it was obvious at the start of the tournament that many of the more seasoned players (even on my own team) consider me “easy pickin’s” and don’t really take me seriously."

That's not true !

Probably getting your tackle before your side step would have helped against Mark.H.

Well played any way !

Many thanks to Pete and Tammy and to all of the West. I had a great time with my surprise success with the Humans. Never expected to win Most TDs with them, but I'll take what I can get.

A special thanks has to go out to Laurent for the weekend. It is always a pleasure to play a game against you as I always learn a lot each game and during post game discussions (which may have coaxed me to stay with Chaos Dwarfs for the World Cup!).

Also, I have to thank him for "reminding" me that I could reroll to catch a ball while I was playing Rod. I think that was how you were able to earn the Jackass award! Memories of 2010 Lakeside where Ben helped out Adam, and the East, to hold Tristan from scoring a TD when Adam had only one player left. I think that Ben won that Jackass award, so it is only fair, Laurent.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at Warpstone. Take it easy all!
