North America - HOPE BOWL Saturday January 26

Clan_Skaven - Dec 13, 2012 - 02:17 PM
Post subject: HOPE BOWL Saturday January 26
A good freind of mine Jesse Geier (NAF Name: smalls) just lost his wife to pneumonia she was only 27. He himself 28 now a single parent to 5 & 2 yr old daughters. A group of us decided to run the Hope Bowl with all the $ going into an RESP in the daughters name to build towards their education. Cost is only $10 but if desired more can be donated. For those wanting to help but unable to attend a webpage with the RESP account # will soon be created.
---------------
RULES.
Team Building: You will have 1,150,000 to build your team including upgrades with the standard costs (str:50k ag:40k ma/av/dbls:30k normal:20k)
No player may recieve more than two upgrades each. No inducements or Star Players may be purchased.

Each Coach will have another Coach as his/her team-mate.
Keeping in with the spirit of Donating you will have to donate a portion of your 1,150,000GP to your future drawn team-mate. There will be three levels of donations available.

Bronze Level Donation: 50,000GP
Your team-mate will receive a 50,000 inducement card from the deck of his or her choice.(you may change card types every game)

As a thank you, you will receive three normal skills (worth 60,000) these are added to your starting roster.

Silver Level Donation: 100,000GP
Your team-mate will receive a 100,000 inducement card from the good karma deck every game.

As a thank you for your donation you will receive 4 normal skills and 1 double skill, (a value of 110,000GP) These are added to their starting team roster.

Gold Level Donation: 150,000
Your team-mate will receive a WIZARD inducement for the rest of the tournoment to be used once per game!

As a thank you, you will receive 5 regular skills and 2 double skills, ( worth 160,000) to be added to your starting roster.

Team-Mates:
Each team will consist of a captain and their team-mate, Team 1's captain will be drawn by the tournament organizer, That person will then come up and draw their team-mate. This will continue until all teams are formed.(Teams will be drawn after all rosters are submitted to the tournament organizer)

Round Match up's:
Each team will be matched up against another team every round. Before opponents are announced the team captains of both sides will roll off(using a d6) to decide which of the teams will be able to choose who plays who. It is then up to the team to decide amongst themselves who would be the best opponent for who, but ultimately the captain will have the final say.

Giving all for the team: (Tournament special rule)

In light of this tournament the players have amped up and are ready to play, more than ever! They are so determined to help one another that they will even help a fellow team-mate out after being brutally beaten.

To represent this any player that is casualties out during a game (not counting throw team-mate,failed dodges or go-for-ti's. will immediately be moved to his team-mates reserves box!. However their determination to succeed is great but they have never played with these other teams before and thus when moved into a team-mates box they revert to "vanilla" versions of their player position with the loner skill.

Any player moved to a reserve box may be set up the next drive as normal and used for the rest of the game. But if that player is casualtied another time he will be removed completely.

And I thought Q'ermitt was complicated!
That's a very nice idea. Do you already know where it's being held?

P.S.: So as a gold donor you will effectively have a TV1310 roster with unlimited skill choice (except the more than two skills per player rule) PLUS a wizard if your team mate is also a gold donor?

Alex,

I believe you will not have a TV of 1310...... I think Rod means you will donate 150,000 gps of your original money to get 160,000. So in this case your new TV will be 1160, but you would get the five normal skills plus the double

Rob is correct, the donation you make comes out of your 1,150,000. So a Bronze donation would leave you 1,100,000 to build your team but you would gain 3 regular skills (worth 60,000) so your TV after donation would be 116. No matter how much you donatate your TV will be 116. Your advantage comes into play on what donation you recieve from your teamate.

There is no deffinate timeline the 1st game will hopefully start between 9:30-10am.

I could see the tourney being over before 10pm, but if you had to take off I'd be able to step in for you. But like I said I'm pretty sure we will be done before 10 pm. There is no inbetween game upgrades so all that needs done is data entry.

I am going to be selling the special weather counters from the Challenge of Q'ermitt VII at this tourney at a cost of $20 each. They are about 10cm high and each weather result slots into a base, so they are interchangeable and easy to transport!

$10 from each weather token sold will go to the Hope Bowl, so please buy generously! they make great gifts for Blood Bowl friends, and even for people who have never heard of the game! Seriously! they are that sweet!

See you all there!

As an incentive and to spice up things a bit, I'll make an offer:

For every touchdown against me and every foul action that leads to a casualty on my side, I'll donate $5.

Wow, I really wish I was playing you so I can get you to donate $500.

Stimme what are you going to play?
Stimme - Jan 24, 2013 - 12:29 PM
Post subject:
@Dwarfbunny: It's unrealistic to have more than 8 touchdowns against, so even with 11 successful fouls, I should be safe.

@Glamdryn: Well, the format definitely asks for a MB/PO spamming Snotling-only team. But I haven't made up my mind yet.

Ok some Bad News, then Good News, then Good/Bad News depending on one's taste.

So in my quest to find the items I needed for trophies I failed miserably (well actually the various stores stock supply failed miserably) But the Good News is I improvised & finished them. Sadly they look rather budget & my efforts may rival a grade school student whose worst subject was art Rolling Eyes

Sorry in advance if you win one. Embarassed

I'd first off like to thank all who donated to this cause, myself & Jesse were blown away by the support he received from many of you who have never met him but only heard his story. Chris E. You Sir are a Saint, if not for your creation of the webpage and your spreading the info to many out there, the fund would never have reached such a height , for that I thank you.

To both the Gents on Zlurpcast & Bothdown your podcast shoutouts really touched me at how sincere all 4 of you were to another person you have never even met, I'm sure your messages went out & helped the fund grow.

To all that came out & participated & put up with the silly rules format of the tourney, thankyou.

So the amount raised for Jesse's 2 daughters RESP Educational fund was $1440. I can honestly say that blows away what I had even hoped for. Thank You all.

There is Hope out there, today the proof was shown.

Thanks again everyone.

Take Care.
