Strategy and Tactics - Thoughts on a Udead Team

Post subject: Thoughts on a Udead Team
This is the Team I plan on using in my next league.

2- Mummies (of course)
2 each - skeletons and zombies (I like variety)
3- Wight???s
3- Ghouls
Team total 12
That leaves enough for 2 RR and a FF or 5.

My other thought would be to get 3 RR by dropping a Zombie or Skeleton and have FF of 2

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated

I would shoot for the high FF. I found out that the RR would come later. Better tactics is to get skeletons latter and get ghouls and wights.

I like Chet's better, but that's only because I perfer the extra MV of the Skeles (hey, sometime's the player I want to foul is more than 4 squares away.)

i agree the extra square is damn useful plus skeles are cool

No NO! Get Zombies, not skeletons. The brittle ones just can't stand up to a blocking contest. The Zombies are much more useful for sticking in front of that big guy, they last longer.

If you want to foul player all over the pitch give dirty player to a Ghoul. Other than that, it is easy enough to keep a Zombie in range most of the time.

not on about skills i am on about coolness. . . . Jason and the argonouts cool and ghouls die too easy. Use Zombies to hold the line and skeletons to kick ass or pick on whats left after the mummies have had their fun.

you have to make comprimises with starting an undead roster, you cant gon with low FF and only 2 re-rolls and three starting Ghouls make your team fragile

Go with Two Mummies
3 Wights
2 Ghouls
and 5 Zombies

9 FF and 2 re-rolls.

I've compromised by only going with two re-rolls whereas i'd like three.

Skeletons forget for know, get one later as a dirty player option

If you field three ghouls on defence expect to get casaulties big time against you, until they all get Blodge.

Personally I never BUY zombies. To me Zombies represent my on pitch kills, and should only be aquired from a raise dead casting. Is this better tactics? No, but it sure goes for team spirit.

my current line up (untried as yet) is 2mummies, 3 wights, 1 ghoul, 1 zombie and 5 skeletons.

i just like skeletons. Made them from scratch and i like the fact they are faster than a mummy a zombie stands up and can only (with out going for it which i ALWAYS fail) blitz who ever is next to him

Why Blitz with a Zombie, when you've got wights or Mummies to do that, Zombies are cannon fodder only, soak up line of sight punishment, so your positional players can do their stuff

I back McDeth 100%. (The third re-roll is a temptation to think hard about.)

Oh dear, blitzing with Zombies/Skeletons? Shocked What's wrong with you man!

So what do you put on the LOS when defending, if you put your Mummies up, then Bashy teams will drop them where they stand, and once their down their gonna have difficulty moving at all, especially when the Dirty player has has his say

hey every dog has his day and if needs must zombie, skeletons sometimes blitz. this is an untried as of yet but i like it and on the los i would use the skeles back close up by the mummies to follow up

every one has their own style or way of playing. . . . . mines just a bad way Wink

I love it.

Regarding blitzing with Zombies and Skeletons, I think Khemri teams should be run that way: use the Blitz-Ras as support troops with Guard, let Skeletons do the hitting unless another way is clear. But that's just me.

i like the extra square but i am one of the coaches that llikes to play a strength game with skaven and a passing game with undead.

maybe thats why i come bottom all the time Confused

Hi there,

normally I prefer the setup that Doubleskull has posted (2 Mummies, 2 Wights, 2 Ghouls, 4 Zombies, 2 Skellies, 3 RR, 9 FF).

But with regard to a long-term league (with some teams with higher Team Rating), what do you think abou the following:

2 Mummies
2 Wights
1 Ghoul
4 Zombies
2 Skeletons
9 Fan Factor
4 Rerolls

The reasons are that I would like to start with as many Rerolls as possible and that Ghouls are so fragile. Next buy would be a 2nd Ghoul (as soon as the first one gets Block).

I saw a successful Undead team once that was something like this:

2 Mummies
2 Wights
4 Ghouls
3 Skeletons
4 FF
3 TRR

Although his FF was low, he surprised many people with the sheer number of speedy ghouls that he had. Scored and killed a lot...

Alternatively, drop one ghoul for a skellie and go with FF 8
Doubleskulls - Sep 09, 2003 - 06:00 AM

That would probably work very well in a short league. Longer term I think he may have suffered from low FF & dead ghouls.

might be a decent tourney team then...
