Are you kidding me? I am sure that Eric loves the fact that having "rubli" at the front of a website is becoming synonomous with Blood Bowl links! Smile

Damn you are on to my plan . . . . Razz

I am currently learning how to make proper printable boards and did this as a test:

It is the Ottawa City flag as the pitch. Just add some BB elements to it and you have a custom CCK-O pitch.

I actually saw this kind of thing (ie non-green football field) used at one of the US Colleges. Cannot rember which but it was different.

That's a nice looking pitch...

Oh where do I begin!

Is it because I want to play a real team?

Is it because by some fluke chance, I have been beaten at other tourneys, and want to secure my victory with a more reliable team?

Is it because I feel that it takes a massive cheater <cough> Joe <cough> to be able to win a tourney with goblins?

Or is it because I do not want to humiliate my opponents by completely destroying their team with such an underrated team?

No, indeed it is because I have plans for a new team and the CCKO is just the incentive I needed to get it done.

Be afraid! Be very afraid!

Incentive abounds mate!

Have a few of the models painted, and only a couple more to convert and paint while the others have most of their base coats. Should be able to have them done in time no problem! (Maybe even enought time to build a custom board for them! Wink) I mean c'mon, I have to have some kind of trick up my sleeve to beat Eggball for the Best Team award! Laughing

Will get some pics up when the team is done - or more close to it than they are now.

Hey, just because I took another award away from Ottawa, no need to get nasty! Wink

The display boards are taking the whole painting competition to a new level - try to keep up, eh?

And just because you haven't painted a new team in the last few years, doesn't mean you have to dump on those of us with more incentive! Smile

Well Spazz....your Ogre board gave me an idea for my new Khemri team I am working on right now. Like you said...to beat Eggball you got to go the extra mile. Every fig has some sort of conversion on it....molded jerseys, Mummy bandages (stolen from Eggballs previous fig ), armor, etc. With a display base to go with them...maybe just maybe I have a chance against you and Eggball. Will try to get some pictures up, but without a digital camera might be hard.

I am moving along in a pretty good clip with the new team (Undead) and hope to take some pictures at some point this week and will post them when I do.

We should make Eric do a week by week progress report on his Chaos Dwarves! This will give him some ectra incentive to make sure that he has them ready! I mean, if I can convert and paint a whole team in a month when I have report cards, am in the middle of a custody battle and I am moving, then I think he can get one team done when he...... well let's face it. He has no life! So c'mon Eric, get a move on! We want to pick on something else other than your humans and 'zons! Razz

Soon to be seven b!tches! Twisted Evil

Not even Joe's goblins could stop me now! I got the team, I got the skills, and dammit, I's got the incentive!

I am going to destroy any who oppose me!

Here you go.... some pics of the work in progress!

Although the team is listed as Undead, and will indeed follow undead stats, the team is based on the one that faced off against Jones at the Canadian Open '07. Jones and his unstoppable chaos monster team ripped my orcs to shreds (literally).

So this is what is left of them. Cyborked to the max, and rebuilt with whatever bitz the coach could get his hands on - behold!

The speedy ghouls....

The fast, yet tough wights...

The zombies are orks less fortunate - more gimpy, which accounts for their lowered agility. I only have one completely donw, so I will wait until more of them are ready before showing them.

The mummies I am particularly proud of. Eggball gave me some ideas on how to do bandaging, and I took a couple of my older black orc models and put them in full body casts, with just enough of the face poking out to know what is under it. The puttying looks like it turned out okay, I guess the proof will be in the final paint job!

Whats the difference between Spazz and that thing between his mom's legs? Nothing, they are both d!cks . . . Twisted Evil

I will have you know that my CD are complete and ready to hand you a thrashing. I was filled with copious amounts of incentive this weekend (or was that liquor . . . I cannot remember Confused ) and in a flourish of pure anti-socialism finished the little buggers who have vexed me for almost a year.

And, lest we forget my dear Spazz; was it not I who owned you with the lovely Orcawa Valley Rebelles?

My final words to you, my good man, is this: would you eat something that smelled like this? Laughing

PS: Let the trash talking commence . . .

Dude, that's weak!

And for the record, your Rebelles did not own my orcs you even said yourself that you were going to play for the draw, until I made that careless error that allowed you the winning TD.

Your stubby little dwarf things will be crushed like all others before me!

Cramy - Dec 11, 2007 - 06:41 AM
Post subject:
In Ottawa, all the leagues that I know of play LRB5. The Ontario tournament scene is only LRB5.

I like LRB5 a lot, more than LRB4. Ageing is gone, which is good (but it was house-ruled out of most leagues that I know of). Inducements are in, and they are fun. A few chainsaws here and there, with the odd cards (if the league allows for cards and stars).

The new skills make things more interesting. No more super killer skill combos that you can't do anything against.

For tournaments, there is almost no difference between the LRBs. Inducements are typically not allowed, so a TR100 in LRB4 or a TV100 in LRB5 usually amounts to the same team construction. As for skills, the ususal suspects are also taken. The new skills, like Fend, Wrestle, Juggernaut, etc... make the odd apperance, but are not pervasive.

If you want more info, you may want to start a new thread so that we don't hijack this one.

There is the first problem: you just looked at it. Any bets you have also read many of the Anti-LRB5 threads aswell - Bad Idea. You have to play under these rules to fully grasp how the changes affect the game and then decide to adopt them or return to LRB 4.

Before the TBBF started on LRB5 everyone had their concerns cause they thought they understood how the changes affected the game. And, there were many misconception and misunderstandings. It was simply that they were ill informed. Now that everyone has played it, I beleive we are all proponants of it.

Spazz,

Glenn is going to be odd man out for this one. I don't know what he is going to take, he has endless choice after all.

Re manning-up, I believe I played goblins at deathbowl and undead at the Naggaroth bowl, so how much more man can you handle?

I can confirm that vampires are not a possibility. Orcs are also unlikely.

Well not as much man as Eric's mom can handle, that's a promise! Very Happy

But hold on there, Skippy, you HAD to play another team at the Naggaroth Bowl (and I STILL had to play your orcs) and then playing goblins at the Deathbowl only seemed decent as you were the odd man out (yet somehow you still win the whole thing - sheesh! But we both know, that is only because I wasn't there to stop you!) Razz

this post appears to have caused some confusion. The tournament will only allow official teams from the LRB5 rulebook. The team lists in the 2007 rules review are playtest only at this stage. The first page of the review is clarifications on the rules and is in effect as of now for official events.

We have a bunch of stuff from Impact. One of the draw prizes will be a carrying case with a metal sheet in it to anchor your magnetised dudes too. We may even throw in the magnets!

There will also be a deadling team pack which has alsorts of lads in it.

We are working on some other stuff too.

We are doing smaller prizes for the people who win trophies, cos they get the trophy anyway, which should be nice, and i hope to get pictures up in Advance.

that didn't go so well the last time. I played a tournie in 2003 (one of only 2 in england that I went to) with humies and they kinda sucked, finished 5th at the first Carnage (called Cam Carnage then). Switched to Orcs for the Student Nationals the next year and won so thats the story.

I'd like to draw everyone's attention to the scoring system for the tournament (its in the rules online but I know people don't read them)

Tournament points

Tournament points may be gained in three ways:
1) Game Play
2) Sportsmanship
3) Team appearance

1) Points from Game play

Points from game play are very simple. Three points for a win, one for a tie and zero for a loss.
Game Result Tournament Points
Win 3
Tie 1
Loss 0

During the tournament, teams with the same number of points will be separated by one of the following tie-breakers.

Order Tie breaker
1 (TD +/-) + (CAS =/-)
2 TD scored
3 CAS caused

This may be important to determine which coaches play each other in any given round.

2) Sportsmanship

After each game you must rank your opponent for sportsmanship. The default ranking is good sport (2). Each coach has the opportunity to mark their opponent up or down depending on their opinion of their sportsmanship.

Sportsmanship Points

A Good Sport
Your opponent was pleasant all game, even when dice and circumstances went against him. You would happily play this coach again, anytime.

The Default Score 2

A Poor Sport
Your opponent was not enjoyable to play. Constant arguing about the rules or constant complaining can be reasons for this score.
An uncommon tournament experience. 1

A Terrible Sport
Your opponent was a miserable fool. They whined about their dice, your dice, BloodBowl, Nuffle, the weather, and pretty much everything else. They also argued about the rules endlessly. You could live your whole life and if you ever saw them again it would be too soon.
No one should get this rating. If they do, an explanation is required. 0

An Amazing Sport
Your opponent made your game one of the best you???ve ever had. It is impossible to imagine them being any more friendly or accommodating.
A unique experience. Giving more than one opponent this rating during a tournament would be questioned. There is no requirement to give anyone this rating. 3

At the end of the tournament, the average sportsmanship score a player received will be added to their total.

3) Team Appearance

A total of 3 tournament points are available for team appearance. It should be possible to gain maximum points with a little effort. There are several different ways to gain the two points.

Appearance category Scores

Painted
Each model has at least three paint colours with no undercoat showing. 0.5

Detailed
The models have the details painted with noticeable effect. 0.5

Based
The bases are painted and textured 0.5

What you see is what you get
Models are obviously representative of the player they portray. 0.5

Numbered
Each model has a number which is obvious from the front and the back. 0.5

Uniqueness
The team is unique in some way, with a model or models which are not just ???off the peg???. 0.5

Tournament Total

The winner of the tournament will be determined by the player with the most points after game 6.

If two players are tied on points, then the following tie breakers will be used.

Rank Tie-Breaker
1 Result between coaches
2 Most Game Play points
3 Most Sportsmanship points
4 (TD +/-) + (CAS =/-)
5 TD scored
6 CAS caused
Notorious_jtb - Jan 15, 2008 - 08:43 AM

So the maximum points that could be acheived is

6 games x 6 wins (3 points each)= 18 points

(6 games x 6 sportsmanship ratings (max 3 each))/6 games = 3 points maximum (very unlikely as each player may give only one 3 rating and don't have too)

Painting = 3 points

So you could end up with 24 points, however 2 is probably the most likely sportsmanship average.
So 23 becomes the max.

All this to say that having a painted/based/numbered/representative/converted team is worth the same as a win!!!!!!!!!!!!

This cost a couple of people a few places last year!

Would it not be: 6 games ?? 3 Points/Game Max = 18 Pts. ? or 12 Pts. @ 2 Points/Game.

That would make a Max of 35 Pts @ maximun Sportsmanship or 29 Pts. @ average Sportsmanship?

Ok, sorry I was bitchy before.

The AVERAGE sportsmanship score is added at the end.

2 points is the score you give someone if they are a good sport.
This is the default and what pretty much all of your scores should be.

3 points is if they are the best you ever played.

1 point is what you give someone if it was a bad experience, losing does not count as a bad experience!!!

0 points is if they were an asshole and you would rather stick pins in your eyes than play them again.

U r right, I never saw the bold font. But does that not make Sportmanship less important than painting/etc. of the models? Or am I missing something else that is written in bold text?

i.e. ±1 point of sportmanship only effects the final score by ±0.17 and only effects the final score by ±1 if the opponant was an Awsome Player (i.e. all 3's) or a Bitchy Player (i.e. all 1's). In the end the average score for sportmanship for all participants will probably lie within 2 ± 0.17.

PS: Don't take this as trying to put down your tourny or the system you are using, or else I would not be comming out.

It means that sportsmanship is worth probably 2 points which is a bit less than painting.

whilst painting is worth probably 2.5 points for most people as its likely they will miss one of the 0.5 point categories as all the models need to conform to the descriptions to get the points. A lot of people will not number front and back for instance and a bunch of people will not have a conversion etc etc

Probably be a lot of ties, but I expect a few 3s to get given out so don't worry I reckon we will end up with a winner somehow, even if it comes down to a vote of some sort.

What I'd suggest is if lets say you end up with 9 people tied at end with sportsmanship scores, You ask everyone to vote for 3 of them with a 1 a 2 & a 3..... (after all the votes you add up the scores) if still tied, let the tourney organiser pick someone...

yeah could do.that too. Maybe we will. That way we can have the current system in place to stop people being really grumpy. But also this voting to help decide the best sportsman. The votes will not affect the tournament standings just the most sporting award.

Actually, the Q'ermitt is going to be in Mississauga this year, which is very close to Brampton, but just for clarification, thought I would point that out.

But you should also not forget that Peter (In Cobourg) holds the Lakeside Cup in July. No excuses for not making it out ot that one!

The only way that you are going to beat them is in a foot race! Motivated by the fact that if you do not outrun them, thehn they are going to stomp you into the ground!

Be prepared to feel the pain! The Spazz express is coming to the O-Dot! Woo Woo!

No pain, all gain! The Spazz-express is making his final stop in O-dot, to be dismembered and sent home in pieces, similar to the fate his Undead Orcs have already felt. Fitting theme.

The only seeing the bottom of your shoes is because you are going to be lying on the ground battered and broken! That or Eric will be near by and you will be presenting to him! Laughing

Hey! They took their beats, but sometimes you need to disassemble, rebuild and start again in order to progress! You just watch, my mummies are going to be happy to play you so they can use your players??? beards to wipe their cracks instead of their bandages!

Very cool team Spazz. Looks like it'll be hard for anyone to challenge you for Best Painted. And it certainly won't be me. I had a great time watching you all strive for victory.

There were a great many twists and turns along the way but rug-thug ran out the worthy winner in the end.

I will post the full results and all trophies soon along with a photo album somewhere on the web.
The results will be up on NAF as soon as we get Alex' registered.

Oh and expect the draft grades to come out soon too!

I feel that I now want to elaborate on my previous post, which although eloquent and almost like a haiku in it's poetic conciseness, it does not convet my full appreciation for this well run tourney.

Joe/Glenn/et al. - it was aweome. You guys really set a high standard for the other tourney organizers out there. You have given me a lot of fuel for though on how I want to run the Q'ermitt and what things I liked in you tourney that I want to implement in my own. For example:

Trophies - I think these really make a tourney special - a prize is alright, but to me, a trophy is something reminiscent of the tourney and your moment of glory. It is something you can take home and impress the Mrs with and be able to brag to your neighbours about.

Timers - Brilliant. The tourney ran so much smoother with these. 'Nuff said.

Silly hats - Grrr... hated them! But only because I had to wear them more than once! Razz Will definitely consider this one.

Aside from that, it was all excellent, honestly. I have reneewed incentive to really get my rouenament in order and try to live up tot the standard that you boys are setting. I am not sure what the European tournaments are like (aside from attendance), but from what I do know, I think our tourneys are far more innovative and exciting what with the draft, funky boards and bring-two-teams tourneys, it makes for interesting flavours and variations of Blood Bowl. Kudos!

Enough gushing for you guys, but let me say a big congrats to Leathan for first place, to Dan for winning Best Team with that awesome Khemri team - (it really was stunning!) and to Mark D for being the only one who could actually beat me in the tourney! Razz And for that other Jones......tieing the game because a riot gave you the extra turn you needed to score...... what can I say? One for the memory books!

A great time guys, hope to see more of you coming out and supporting the local tournament scene. Rmember the following tourneys:

March - Canadian Open (Brampton)
April - The Challenge of Q'ermitt (Mississauga)
June - Bongo Bowl (Brampton or Missisauga - TBA)
July - Lakeside Cup - (Couburg)
September - Naggaroth Cup - (Niagra Falls)

See ya!

A word to the TO's of all these events, non of which are listed in the tourneys section on this site yet. Do this NOW! You cannot start promoting early enough and you can always change the date by editing the tournament (i did that 3/4 times for DBV)
