TEAM BUILDING

The text herein is a high-level summary. Please refer to the 2012 Blingtoof Rules PDF for full rules. Items in the PDF in red are changes/edits from the 2011 rules.

- TV is 1140
- All teams must have at least one Goblin Player on them (i.e. 6/2/3/7 Dodge, Right Stuff, Stunty)
- Teams can have as many Goblin Players as they wish
- Teams with at least three Goblin Players are "Sanctioned Teams."
- Big Guys (i.e. players that start with ST5 or more) can only receive Normal skills unless they're on a sanctioned team
- Teams get one of the following Upgrade Packages:

Stat Pack - One player gets a ST or AG increase, another player gets an AV or MA increase.
Five Pack - For Normal skills and one Double skill; each player may only get one upgrade.
The Double-Deuce - Two different players get two Normal skills each.

- In addition to the above, Goblin teams (i.e. up to 2 Trolls, Secret Weapons, and Goblin Players) receive an additional Double skill and Dirty Player is considered a Normal skill for Goblin Players on Goblin teams (both during team creation and between rounds).
- Sanctioned Teams may purchase bribes as permanent roster additions. The first bribe purchased this way costs only 50K. Goblin teams may purchase up to three bribes this way at 50K each.
- After selecting an upgrade package, each coach may give one Goblin Player on his team the “Fan Favourite” skill for free. This may be a player that has already been upgraded.
- Coaches may have Star Players with the Stunty skill (except for Brick Far’th and Grotty) as permanent additions to their rosters.

TEAM PROGRESSION
- After each round, the tournament director will randomly determine an upgrade that must go to a Goblin Player. Coaches will be told what the upgrades are before they select the players to receive these upgrades.
- Star Players may never be given upgrades.
- Only Goblin Players may receive more than two upgrades between team creation and progression between rounds.
- NOTE: One significant change from last year is that only Goblin Players will receive upgrades between rounds.

OTHER TOURNAMENT RULES
Make sure you check out the 2012 Blingtoof Rules PDF for full details on FOULING PONTS (the second most presigious prize at the tournament), sneaking players on to the pitch, and all the other goblin-y goodness that will greet you at BLINGTOOF'S GITBASH 2012!!!

TROLL BOWL ON SATURDAY NIGHT!
What is Troll Bowl you ask? Why, it's multi-player Blood Bowl on a Death Bowl pitch where each player's entire team consists of 1 goblin and 1 troll, or course! CLICK HERE for more details.

Need incentive? The winner gets a Willy Troll!

PITCHES, BITCHES!
I've had FF-Fields make up a totally sweet custom Blingtoof's Gitbash pitch (click on image for a hi-res version):

If you want one of these awesome pitches I'm putting together a group order. The pitch is available either as a roll-up vinyl mat or the rigid "puzzle piece" variety that comes in 8 segments that snap together. The roll-up pitches are €35 (approx. $46) and the puzzle-piece pitches are €45 (approx $59). I will be putting in an order for these fields on 15-May-2012. Anyone that would like one of these amazing pitches can order one with a non-refundable deposit of $20 for a roll-up pitch and $30 for a puzzle-piece version; deposits must be received on or before 15-May-2012. I'll collect the balance from you once they arrive and the currency conversion is done. Those ordering pitches will also be required to pay a share of the shipping charge. Predicting what that will be is hard because it totally depends on the number of pitches ordered but you should count on it likely being at least $10 as the pitches are coming from Italy. I'll make individual arrangements with people to get their pitches to them and do everything I can to make sure you're not waiting longer than absolutely necessary.

There will be the following in-game advantage to playing on a Blingtoof pitch!

HOME FEELD UDVANTIG
If you are playing your game on a Blingtoof’s Gitbash FF-Fields pitch that you own you may subtract 1 from all of your “Cheet To Win” rolls. If both coaches brought a Blingtoof pitch to the game then they each receive this bonus. If only one coach brings a Blingtoof pitch to the game then the game must be played on that pitch.

IMPACT MINIATURES ORDER
Impact Miniatures has generously agreed to sponsor this tournament again. Essentially, you can order anything from the Impact Miniatures site at 10% off EXCEPT everything in the Gaming Mats & Dugouts section (those items can still be ordered but do not receive a discount). Impact will then donate 20% of the pre-discount value of the items ordered as prize support. For example, if we order $1000 worth of stuff we'll only pay $900 for it at 10% off and Impact will donate $200 worth of prizes ($1000 x 20%). This worked out great last year and I'm thrilled that Impact is offering us this deal again.

I will organize two group orders. The first order will be made on 15-May-2012 and the second order will be made on 15-Sep-2012. As with the pitches, I'll do everything I can to get your items to you in a timely fashion either by meeting up with you if you're in the Toronto area or bringing them to a tournament like Lakeside Cup. I will also cover the cost of shipping. Anyone ordering more than $10 worth of items will need to get me the money by the above order dates for your items to be included. Interac e-mail transfers are the easiest but cheques and cash work, too.

So get on over to Impact Miniatures and pick some stuff! E-mail the items that you would like to order to blingtoof@engler.ca.

ACCOMMODATIONS
I'm happy to announce that Alex Matusiak (Apartment42) has come through in a BIG way to help out those coming from out-of-town. Alex has access to a friend's house in the nearby town of Rockwood where there is relatively abundant but finite space available for people to crash at no charge. If you want to make use of this space, please get in touch with Alex at alex@thehobble.com.

This space is available on a first-come-first-served basis so bear that in mind when you're making your plans. Additionally, please ensure that you bring everything you need in terms of bedding & linen (blanket/sleeping bag, pillow, air mattress, towel, etc.) as you'll be required to provide this yourself. It's about a 20-25 minute drive from the house to the tournament so you'll still need wheels to get yourself to and from the house in Rockwood but it's so great that Alex is making available a free accommodation option for people.

If you'd rather stay at a hotel the two following locations are closest to the tournament:

- Holiday Inn Express
- Best Western Plus

For sure. Here are two of the name brand hotels that are relatively nearby (under 5 minute drive)

Holiday Inn Express

Best Western Plus

Just like my fellow Frenchman it would be nice if there was a spot on some floor so we can fall down on. Savign a couple bucks is always a good thing, gives more money for important things like beer. I mean come on a comfy bed or beer...there is no comparison

Hey, guys.

I'm putting together another series of group order from Impact Miniatures. Full details are on first post but, like last year, you get 10% off almost everything on their site and then the tournament gets 20% of the pre-discount price as prize support. This year I'm doing two orders: one in May and one in September.

Also, I'm putting together an order for anyone who wants an awesome Blingtoof's Gitbash pitch from FF-Fields. I'm only doing one order for these in May so if you want one you gotta get in on it now!

As an added incentive to pick up a Blingtoof Pitch I'm adding the following rule to the tournament!

Also, because this is Blingtoof's Gitbash 2 and, therefore, the only time I'll ever be able to call it "Electric Boogaloo" the following special rule will be around for this year's Gitbash and NEVER AGAIN!

Each coach gets a Goblin Shaman card which can only be used once per coach for the whole tournament. The Goblin Shaman works like a Wizard but with the following differences:
- The Goblin Shaman may only be used to cast a Goblin Shaman Lightning Bolt.
- Goblin Shaman Lighning Bolt: Pick a standing player anywhere on the pitch, and roll one die. Add 1 to the die roll for every Goblin Player on your team currently on the pitch. Goblin teams add 5 to the roll. If the score is a 7 or higher, then he has been hit by the lightning bolt. If the roll is less than 7 he manages to dodge out of the way and a random standing player on your team on the pitch has been hit by the lightning bolt. A player hit by a lightning bolt is Knocked Down and must make an Armour roll (and possible Injury, as well) as if it were hit by a player with the Mighty Blow skill.

Yep. That Goblin magic... it's damn unreliable! Whaddya expect for a free wizard? Smile

The thought behind it was, essentially, give Goblin teams a free one-use wizard and everyone else a free one-use wizard that, for most teams I expect to be fielded, only works on a 4+ unless they've got a 6 goblins on the pitch.
natsirtdm - Apr 12, 2012 - 05:59 PM
Post subject:
fair enough just clarifying.
so basically a free lightning bolt for goblin teams, and a last resort that will burn you 50% of the time for the rest.

guess I better get painting the goblin team I won last year.

Pretty much. Theoretically, if a non-Goblin team had six goblins on the pitch the lightning bolt would still work on a 2+ but I'm assuming that's not all that likely to happen.

Hey, guys.

One thing I need for my tournament is an Odd Man Out (denoted OMO herein). I had a lot of fun playing and running Blingtoof last year but it meant that I couldn't take pictures or do administrative stuff while the games were going on and I found that stressful. As the OMO at Blingtoof you would do the following:

- If an even number of players show up (not including OMO) then the OMO doesn't play
- The OMO is eligible for prizes if he plays
- Regardless of the number of players that show up, the OMO doesn't pay the tournament entry fee
- Help the tournament organizer to keep things running smoothly
- During registration, the OMO will verify that rosters submitted are accurate

Anyone interested?

Hey, everyone. I've uploaded a cleaned up version of the 2012 rules. Based on some feedback, some of the team creation rules were a little unclear so I hope this edit makes everything easier to understand:

http://www.engler.ca/blingtoof/files/blingtoof_rules_2012.pdf

Most of the edits are around some bonuses I'm giving to Goblin teams but one important addition that was not in prior versions of the rules pack is that teams may only grant a given skill as an upgrade on two different players (e.g. you can only give two players Block that don't start with Block).

If anything requires clarification please let me know. Thanks!

Blingtoof Tokens by FF Fields: only $5! Order by 20-Aug!

You've already seen the amazing custom pitch that FF Fields made for Blingtoof. Now you can accessorize it with some custom Blingtoof counters! These 1' counters are made out of the same material as FF Field's puzzle-piece pitches and are a great way to keep track of your score, turn, and re-rolls. These tokens come in a set of 8 tokens with the Blingtoof logo on them. In a set you'll get:

- Five team re-roll counters
- One leader re-roll counter
- One turn counter

It's hard for me to believe that it's less than 100 days until Blingtoof's Gitbash 2. Initial response has been great and I'm so thankful to everyone that has already ordered FF-Fields pitches, stuff from Impact Miniatures as part of our group order, and Blingtoof tokens. I decided to move the tournament to Milton which I understand compels people to find a place to stay on at least Saturday night and, in most cases, Friday night.

I believe if you look earlier in this thread you'll see talk of sleeping in the woods or on someone's lawn or something to that effect.

It's Milton, what's the worst that could happen? (Actually the town motto)

Hey, guys. I've spoken to a few of you in person about this already but I need to post a few rules here just so everyone understands. The venue for this year's Blingtoof's Gitbash is at a community youth centre with a religious affiliation (we are actually on a church's property). As such, alcohol is not allowed to be on the premises.

Tobacco cigarettes may be smoked by the picnic table just outside the entrance.

Now comes the slightly awkward part... For those who enjoy pot, you cannot smoke it on the property or within visual range of the property. This is strictly for optics and is not a condemnation. I've hung out with all of you and I know you're considerate. That being said, I don't want anything to happen that causes problems for the youth centre. There are houses that back on to the field where the youth centre is. It moved into the current building about a year ago and some of the home owners were not crazy about a "teenager hangout" being so close. Thankfully, there have not been any problems yet but I don't want, theoretically, for some cranky senior citizen to smell something, call the cops, and cause a problem over nothing.

Sorry to have to be so "square" but I just want to respect the venue and eliminate the possibility of a problem. If you need to talk about this further please PM or email me so that this thread stays on topic.

Thanks.

Hi, Grant. No disrespect intended but I can say with practical certainty that this tournament will, unfortunately, always conflict with the weekend closest to Remembrance Day. Last year I held it on the first weekend in November and it conflicted with HammerCon (an event I love to support). I've kept in close contact with HammerCon and will make sure that our events don't clash but as long as they're sticking with the first weekend in November I'll be having Blingtoof's Gitbash on the weekend after. I'm reluctant to hold it any later as this starts to infringe on many people's Christmas and other December holiday-related activities and holding it any earlier conflicts (or is too close to) some other long-standing tourneys in the area.

If your observance of Remembrance Day allows you to show up either Saturday or Sunday that's totally fine (PM me and we can work something out). Both my grandfathers were World War II veterans; I commend your adherence to observing Remembrance Day.

ON THE SATURDAY EVENING OF BLINGTOOF'S GITBASH...

...we're gonna play TROLL BOWL. What is that you ask? Why, it's multi-player Blood Bowl on a Death Bowl pitch where each player's entire team consists of 1 goblin and 1 troll, or course! CLICK HERE for more details.

Need incentive? The winner gets a Willy Troll!

Everything is a Troll and Goblin regardless of which models are used. I just wanted to give an option for people to participate using models they already have if they didn't possess a troll/goblin combo. Per the blog post on blingtoof.com:

"Themed alternate miniatures are encouraged as long as you have one clear “Big Guy” and easily associable smaller player that will be deemed a Troll and Goblin, respectively, and will have the same statistics."

News Release:

One of this year's participants at the Blingtoof, Les Fées Vertes, were thoroughly disgusted at the requirement of a goblin on the roster. After lodging a formal protest to the commissioner, it was ruled that the absence of a Goblin would cause the team to default from the tournament. After much debate within the team, and many strong drinks, is was resolved to employ a Goblin on a temporary bases to be compliant with the rules and not lose their entrance fee. At a press conference earlier today, the team coach had this to say,

"It is with a sad heart that I announce that we have hired a . . . ah . . . Goblin . . . *sigh* . . . Our loyal fans will be glad to hear that this is not a permanent position. Officially he will be considered a towel boy and will never be part of the history of Les Fées Vertes. And to the other teams I would like to say: should he ever set foot on the field-of-play you all have free reign, just saying."

Through our sources we were able to determine that the Goblin hired by Les Fées Vertes is the one and only Shizz Ender the head Ji$m toweler for Dan's Mom. This came as a surprise as his squad is usually busy all year round; though news has come out recently that she is taking time off to receive treatment for impaction of several orifices. Not much is expected from Shizz at this tournament other than to be shunned by the very team that hired him.

Y'know, Jonny... some made up BS about having to buy new tires is a *pretty* long way to go just to get out of giving Kamakazski and Canadian Boxcar another shot for the ZWF tag titles.

But in all seriousness... it sucks that you can't make it but I totally understand. You'll have to make it up to Soviet Canuckistan for a tournament sooner or later!

Alex Matusiak, Rod Davidson, Dave Tellez, Mark D’Agostino, Eric Rubli, Kevin Stewart, Gord MacDougall, Mathew Hreljac, Manuel Leclerc, Tristan McKerracher, Peter Meers, Colin Keilar, Alex Weiss, and Mark Hickling, there would be no tournament if you guys didn’t show up so thank you for coming! Also, thank you to Craig “Spazzfist” Thompson-Wood who, unfortunately, couldn’t participate on Saturday but made time to come by and hang out on Sunday.

Thanks, again, to The Deck Youth Centre in Milton, Ontario, Canada for the use of their facility, to Battlegrounds (friendly local game store) for the use of their tables, and to Impact Miniatures for their donation of prize support. It was a pleasure to run this tournament for everyone and I hope you'll all be back next year for Blingtoof's Gitbash 3!

Special thanks also needs to be extended to Louie "Allfrost" Delfin for helping me get everything up on Friday and doing some of the dirty jobs that nobody else would! Also, a big thank you to Adam Smith of Sword in the Stone Crafts (follow him on Twitter at @pphlensing for updates on all his amazing creative endeavours) for making the pouches for the "bags of rats" trophies.

Results have been uploaded to the NAF and just require the pushing of the magic button. Here are the complete results along with a photo-gallery at the bottom. enjoy!

Enjoy these photos from the event!

Alex AKA apartment42 playing Amazons.

Rod AKA Clan-Skaven playing Chaos.

Dave AKA Doomington playing Skaven.

Mark AKA Dwarfrunner playing Halflings.

Eric AKA Eric.R. playing High Elves.

Kevin AKA frostmane playing Orcs.

Gord AKA gmacd playing Norse.

Mathew AKA Kikruasis playing Undead.

Manual AKA Manz62 playing Orcs.

Tristan AKA natsirtm playing JUGGALO Goblins.

Pete AKA peter_meers playing Goblins.

Colin AKA runki_khrum playing Skaven.

Alex AKA Stimme playing Goblins.

Mark AKA Zap_Rowsdower playing Chaos Dwarfs.

Alex's Amazons vs. Kevin's Orcs.

Eric isn't having fun yet. At least it's only round 1.

Colin's Skaven vs. Gord's Norse.

That is one naaaaasty Beastman. Rod was running an all Beastman team with no Block. He so craaaaaazy.

Juggalo Troll!!!

Eric's High Elves seem more interested in sun-tanning than playing Blood Bowl.

Goblins vs. Undead. Yeah, THAT'S fair!

Pete should win best sport for this shirt alone.

This goblin on Eric's High Elf team is one of Dan's Mom's jizz-moppers in his day-to-day life. The creepy part is this miniatures is actually sticky. Eeeewwww.

All these players were ejected for fouling in the game Rod played against Mark D.

Even High Elves fail on 1s.

Pete's shirt even makes time & space warp.

Sign the theme of a tournament is catching on: Rod just got a blocking casualty in this picture but was disappointed that he didn't get a chance to follow.

Not looking good for Kikurasis' Ghoul but he found a way to get away through some fancy blocking.

Top table in round 2: Mark Hickling's Chaos Dwarfs vs. Mark D'Agostino's Halflings.

Norse vs. Orcs in round 2.

Juggalo Ball & Chain Fanatic. WOOP WOOP!!!

Eric is gunning for most TDs with another 4-0 win.

Blingtoof Picnic with what looks like a young James Hetfield.

Friggin' goblins can't spell anything right.

You could eat your rules card for the Goblin Shaman Lightning Bolt for extra raffle tickets. Gord is the only one who manned up and did it.

Pete's magic trousers on the left: Good. Rod's exposed side-meat on the right: Not so much.

2nd place WHUTUPSHUN !

Thanks for running a fantastic weekend Chris =) now I feel doubly sad I missed the inaugural year.

Also thanks to my great opponents - Rob, Dags, Kevin, Alex and especially Colin who's game inspired me to take my playing to a whole new level. Well done on your victory!

Great tournament. I always thought I hate goblins. Now I know I hate trolls.

Thanks again Wappy for running a great tourney! I had a great time and, as always, great to see everyone again.

This is probably my best game record ever at a tourney (i.e. not including tie breaks, `cause fouling is BS!), especially since I finally won against Tristan!! Very Happy

I was really hoping to go the whole tourney without a Foul point with at least one attempt every game, but that stupid goblin just had to die in the 5th round :S

At least I have solace in the expression on my opponents face when they had to touch 'Spunky' only to realize how sticky he was after a morning's work cleaning up after Dan's Mom's work of the evening.

Oops... looks like I got the names backwards. Eric/Daggers: the TD and CAS counts are right for the peter_meers vs. Kikurasis match in round 1 but the names should be swapped. Can you please fix it before approving the results?

Thanks!

My first match is incorrect, too, you sneaky git! I won 1:0.

Thanks, Daggers! In my zeal to get everything submitted fast last night I must have made some transposition errors between my spreadsheet and the Score software. That'll teach me for creating a wacky customer tie-breaker that I can't figure out how to implement in Score.

Thanks to Chris for running a wicked tournament, glad I was successful in getting those silver dice!
Congrats to Eric for the win (was 4th round that goblin died btw Razz) and a convincing one at that.
Thanks to all my opponents for fun games!

Thanks to all my opponents for the good times! The last game was a nail biter against Alex M but my dodgey gutter came through last turn. Never laughed so hard while being fouled so much by Rod's beast men. Mark H, lucky I got off to the good start and managed to hang on through the second half. Gord and Matt, thanks for the solid games. This was a weekend of firsts for me, first Gitbash, first time back in Milton in over 30 years and my first first place finish in a sanctioned tournament ever! Thanks to Waps for hosting this event. I will make every effort to return next year to defend my bag of rats! Very Happy

A big thanks to Chris for another fun-filled BB tournament. It was always a blast, even when I was getting destroyed. And the fact that I got "best sporting" shows just how much everyone at the event is insane.

Also a big thanks to Apartment42's friend for letting us use her house for the weekend. That was a pretty fun place to be in Rockwood that weekend. Although I can only imagine how long it took to clean it up afterwards. The weird and wacky stuff that went on always gives the tournament that extra excitement factor. "Hey, remember that time......"

As well, thanks to all my opponents for some...shall we say...interesting games. Rod, Hick, Alex M, Peter and Alex W, I had a blast. Rod and Pete, thanks for fouling the crap out of me and letting me win, with halflings ;P. Alex M and Hick, thanks for totally clearing the pitch (I actually had 0 players for the final kick-off) and almost clearing the pitch, respectively. And Alex, thanks for the craziest, weirdest, most unexplainable Goblin/Halfling game EVER!!!! The fact that I lost was just annoying, but really, that game was all over the place. And with only 9 players on the field, between the two of us, at the end, it was one I will remember for a very long time.

See everyone at CCKO in January.
