Great plan. One thing with Cubs tix. Never buy them when they go on sale.

Just wait until they start sucking balls (roughly early July) and you can get quite a bargain on ebay.

I hope I'm wrong.

Chaos Cup 2012 will be held in the Chicago area, but NOT at the GW bunker any more.

They shrunk the place to less than half the size.

Once we get the actual venue locked down, I will announce it here.

You SHOULD be coming to Chaos Cup because it's awesome.

You COULD be coming to Chaos Cup to get the Limited Edition Chaos All-Stars from Impact MIniatures

I WOULD save them for my collection, but if you want to make a nice return on your investment...

.... Sark Four Eyes just went for GBP 21.00 / US $32.49
http://www.ebay.com/itm/260926036185?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_500wt_1122

I've seen others go for similar or even more of a profit.

Sept 15-16 this year... get your hands on Prince Dorian the Lost to make your Chaos All-Stars even more EVIL!

The wait is over, the new venue for CHAOS CUP is now confirmed!

Sept 15-16, 2012 at

HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS PALATINE
http://zlurpcast.com/JP/Palatine0.jpg

The Ballroom is HUGE! If you remember the space in the bunker last year, this is even bigger than that!
http://zlurpcast.com/JP/Palatine1.jpg

We'll get a bunch of 3x6 and 3x8 tables to use... and yes, regular size tables so you can sit comfortablely for all 6 games. Toss in

a big screen/projector, mic and PA system and we are all set to run a kick ass Chaos Cup there!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BOOKING ROOMS

Here is the hotel address info:
1550 East Dundee Road
Palatine, IL 60074
(847) 934-4900

You can book via phone or online here:
http://www.hiexpress.com/hotels/us/en/palatine/chipt/hoteldetail

By phone just let them know this is for Chaos Cup, or Group Code: CCC

By internet just use Group Code: CCC

The special rate we are getting is $79 per night. Normally it's $89. If there are ANY conflicts with this price from the hotel,

please let me know directly and if you find it cheaper online as well, let me know and I will try to get them to match it.

You have the choice of getting a room with 1 King Bed (and pull out couch if requested) or 2 Double Beds
KING: http://zlurpcast.com/JP/Palatine4.jpg
2 DOUBLES: http://zlurpcast.com/JP/Palatine5.jpg

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GUEST SERVICES

LOUNGE
http://zlurpcast.com/JP/Palatine6.jpg
You get access to this nice lounge area which is open 24/7, which I can only imagine will consist of lots of nighttime gaming. With

that said, I don't think they will want alcohol in that area, but you could always go up to your rooms for that.

BREAKFAST
You get free hot breakfast. Not just a continental roll at other places... eggs and other good selections each morning for breakfast

is included

AIRPORT SHUTTLE
For $28, up to 4 people together can get a ride to O'Hare airport thru their partnered taxi service.... or you can get picked up from

the airport and brought back to the hotel. It's a one way charge, but split that amongst 4 people and it's pretty cheap.

Remember..you want O'Hare Airport. NOT Midway Airport.

AREA SHUTTLE
The hotel gives guests complimentary shuttle to and from about 40 different restaurants and local attractions. I'll list all the

places on http://ChaosCup.com soon, but really you've got a good 5 mile radius to and from anywhere you want totally free.

PARKING
If you did drive, the parking is free. So no worries there.

WORKOUT/POOL
The hotel is actually connected to a World Gym to those guests who want to work off all the sitting around while they are there.

Also there is a huge pool you can use. Basketball and Volleyball too. All included, just use your room key to get in.
http://zlurpcast.com/JP/Palatine2.jpg
http://zlurpcast.com/JP/Palatine3.jpg
http://zlurpcast.com/JP/Palatine7.jpg

INTERNET
Free wired internet inside all rooms. Free Wi-Fi in lounge, lobby, and our ballroom.

HIGHWAYS
It's located right off of 53/290 and Dundee Rd. People do can 290 East(South) and connect to 90 East into city.

TRAIN
Hotel is a few miles from Palatine Metra, Arlington Park Metra, and Wheeling Metra. Just contact the hotel for a shuttle to and from

the train station.

ATTRACTIONS IN AREA
Durty Nellies (bands play there), Arlington Racetrack, Medieval Times, Woodfield, Allstate Arena... and the new Rivers Casino is not

too far away. I'll post full list on the Chaos Cup website.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ALTERNATE ROOMS
If you are trying to be on an extra tight budget, there is a Motel Six right across the street. I do not know the rate, but if it's

not too much less than the $79 at Holiday Inn Express, then I'd consider just staying at our Chaos Cup hotel and enjoying the company

of some fellow out of towners!

CUBS GAME
Last year, some of us went to Wrigley Field the Friday before Chaos Cup.
http://zlurpcast.com/category/episodes/photos/couch-pirates-zlurpcast-at-wrigley/

It was a blast and we plan on doing it again this year. I'll put information for that together in a separate post. It's fun to all

sit near each other and drink some shitty beer together!

WEBSITE
If you are having ANY concerns about coming or not, just have a look at the 2011 Photo's section of the http://ChaosCup.com website.

Last year was the largest Chaos Cup ever and this year will be even bigger! With side games like Skaven-Ger Hunt, Triple Skulls,

Guess the Dice, and Blood Bowl Poker, there will always be something going on that weekend.

If you are reading this on a forum, make sure to also subscribe to our Chaos Cup Newsletter at http://eepurl.com/iDCsT and Follow us

on http://twitter.com/ChaosCup and Like us at http://facebook.com/TheChaosCup

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lastly, coming soon we'll have pre-registration info up.... tons of awesome schwag (different color dice, coin, patch, dugout),

custom pitches, Limited Edition Chaos All-Star model Prince Dorian from http://impactminiatures.com going to everyone, and lots more.

Brought to you by Nurgle King... your decay, right away at Nurgle King now!

Any questions in the meantime can come to me directly: chaoscupinfo@gmail.com

Stay tuned Blood Bowl fans....whutupshun indeed!

Our group rate should be locked in for 9/12 - 9/18 so if you wish to stay longer (earlier or later) and do some Chicago sightseeing, you can still take advantage of the deal.

Turns our the normal rate is $94 a night, so this helps out a bit.

Please book hotel as soon as you can!

(right click and select SAVE AS to download)

Simliar to last year, but some minor differences. Pay close attention to the Pre-Registration section. The sooner you pre-register, the less you pay and the more stuff you get!

Keep in mind however, that part of pre-registering will be submitting the roster you will be using that day. You cannot change it once sent, so make sure it's what you want to take before pre-registering.

Pre-registration opens up on April 1st. More information will be emailed to you then.

Oh and since it is the "CHAOS" Cup.... anyone taking a Chaos, Nurgle, Chaos Pact,or Underworld team will get a special non-game-related Nurgle Gift of Chaos!

If you signed up to receive the Chaos Cup Newsletter, you got to see a sneak preview of the limited color dice ONLY the early pre-reggers got. If you missed it... sorry bro! Smile

Something I'd like to do on the Friday night of Chaos Cup (Chaos Cup Eve?) is run a 3-4 hour session of the Warhammer Fantasy RPG with a Nurgle theme to it. I'd be running the latest edition by Fantasy Flight and would be able to accommodate a table of up to six players. I know this is way early but I was wondering what the interest in participating in an event like that would be?

See, that would be Chaos Undivided (ironic though that term is). Dan's mom is disease-ridden (Nurgle), there is pleasure and pain (Slaanesh), you usually need to be deceived into the committing the act itself and you'll definitely lie about it afterwards (Tzeentch), and there is almost always blood (Khorne).

Oh, that explains it. You got the wrong Mark. That's Hickling's diary you were reading. That explains why Mark kept complaining about how it burns when he pees, must have had some "extra-curricular" activity with the Nurgle-queen Dan's mom.

We've got almost 30 pre-registered so far.

7 US states and 5 countries represented already!

I'd like to thank all of those people for paying early and sending rosters early. I know it's a bit of a change, and it's much appreciated.

This allows things to run more smoothly at the event, and more importantly, allows me to get some kick ass swag to give out!

Reminder to anyone who wants to buy a Nurgle Pitch, that in order to do so you must pre-register by May 31st. 16 sold right now!

Very Happy I need to remain strict on this policy due to several issues last year with rosters.

The pitches can only be purchased along with pre-registering for the tournament by 5/31. It's an incentive to get rosters and payment in early!

You can still pre-register by 8/31 without the option to purchase a pitch however.

As Liz wrote, flight and now hotels are booked. I would have already registered, but have not yet optimized my Vampirehalfling roster.

Wow... that sucks.

I just checked and you are correct. $77USD vs $79USD

I will call and yell at them on Monday.

A couple months back it was around $95USD so I bragged about our "special" deal.

Thanks for the feedback.
Jonny_P - Jun 05, 2012 - 12:10 PM

Just a quick update on the above.

That rate of $77 is for a pre-purchase... as opposed to a normal hotel booking where you can cancel or change your reservation. Sites like Expedia and Hotwire do these kinds of services too.... however keep in mind if something comes up there are no refunds.

Also... once 4 rooms (out of their 182 rooms total) on any given night are purchased at that $77 pre-pay rate... it is no longer available.

Our group rate of $79 is actually the lowest possible for a group of our size.

I think for 2 bucks, its worth the ability to change. But that is the reason why you can see that other rate.

Well, we booked flights and - the most difficult part - told our girl friends that we would be spending a weekend away playing with little metal figures, so I guess we already committed enough to risk the pre-pay rate. Cool

A less-serious matter than the chaos cup g String:

it says:

"If the game ends in draw, then Total Tournament points will be used to decide the Champion.
You will receive a -1 penalty for any “NO’s” given out by your opponent on their Etiquette Sheet. This penalty will only affect final standings. This will not affect any matchup determinations."

So, if DarkOrk20 is playing the final, against an opponent with an unpainted team, all he has to do to win the tournament is tying the game ? or the strength of schedule / head-to-head / net TD tie-breaker will decide the winner ? We all know that Tom would totally do that kind of things Rolling Eyes
Jonny_P - Aug 13, 2012 - 06:30 PM
Post subject:
Great question.

I should have clarified it to state that Etiquette Sheet negative modifiers will be applied AFTER the tournament. Based on feedback last year, the majority of people didn't want any of that stuff affecting the in-tournament standings or matchups.

So to answer your DarkOrk20 question.... Schedule Strength breaks ties first, then Head to Head if applicable, then Net TDs. Etiquette points do not come into play.

I will make some minor edits soon just to clarify this on the rules PDF

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES ! OWNED YA B*TCHES Very Happy

Pretty sweet ending for my north american career. For their last outing, the Saturday Night Nicqueurs followed Dark Marcel's lead and (sliced n') diced 3 (lame) undead teams, makes it even sweeter.
I think that none of my opponents had more than 3 players on turn 16 !

@ Jonny: that was a very smooth tournament, congrats !
@ Lindsay: such a pleaure meeting you, see you aruond Wink
@ Justin M.: keep practicing kid, you'll be kicking some asses soon. Just practice with a good coach (apparently lindsay mught be one of the best coach in your area Wink )
@ Doug Saunders: Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez you made me squeal in the first half !
@ Math, Nate and Duke: destroying your teams was a great pleasure Smile

A'right, I had a really great time, met tons of new cool coaches, thanks to all for this great week end (and Bobby for the lift), and see you around at a world cup or somethin'

PS: Tom, I was waiting for you table 1, but you never came !

Good job Laurent! Wish I could have been there! Not only to play in one last tournament with you, but to kick your ass an send you back to France with nothing but a face streaked with tears an a mind full of memories about how Spazz and his Nurgle raped you on the last table!

You know it would have happened..... Laughing

Seriously going to miss you buddy!

Sac a dos!!!

Congratulations to Laurent, Mathew, and KÃ¥re for their podium finishes. It was great to see a Frog, a Hoser, and a Dane on the podium with the Americans blanked.

This was a great event. If you couldn't make it I highly recommend making it a priority to attend next year.

I'd also like to thank my opponents Khail (Skaven), Andy (Dwarfs), Chris (Undead), Zoot Suit Jeff (Orcs), Mathew (Undead), and Katie (Dwarfs) for six very fun and highly competitive match-ups.

To Jonny P, Heather, Xrteme, Jennifer, Mike, and Katie and all others that helped run and organize Chaos Cup I give you the highest marks for putting on a fun event that went off without a hitch.

This was my first Chaos Cup and it was great! I met so many awesome coaches and played some seriously fun games. I got to listen to a Frenchman curse his dice and we both struggled with math so early in the morning Smile, I played the infamous 40 Miners which was something I will never forget and his team looks so awesome! Then I played my first necromatic team (regen is nuts and werewolves are crazy fun!), I also discovered why people curse wood elves after the first 3 touch downs I began to channel my inner goblin player and fouled like it was my job (the wardancers went first!), I played a seriously bloody game against some humans and then some Amazon on Amazon action to end the Chaos Cup (we just shoved each other around a lot then it got bloody).

Thank you Jonny P and all the people who made this tournament and this community so awesome, I can't wait for Chaos Cup 2013!!

Still have some NAF sign-ups to work out, but here are the FINAL STANDINGS from the tournament.

Note: The "Etiquette Sheet" used at this event will now have no bearing whatsoever on these numbers and will most likely be discontinued for next year's event. Many people chose not to fill it out and I didn't bother to chase them down about it either. At this point, there is no way I can do anything with data that is only partially filled out.

Had a great time. Was happy to make it to top table rd 4, go 4-2 with a few close losses to the champ and a former champ. All six games were against great coaches.

Going to make every effort to make it back next year.

It was a great tournament. Playing in the hotel was really convenient. This was my third Chaos Cup. Despite a rough start of bringing the wrong figure case, Nuffle smiled on me and I went 4 and 2 with Chaos. Something which I am pretty happy about. After going 3 and 1 the first day, I got to play at the top table Sunday morning and I was in contention for both the TD and Cas awards. Hopefully Chaos will get a little more respect now. Smile Since next year's theme is my man Slannesh, I will have to represent with Chaos one more time before switching to something new. See you all next year.

I was asked for a Chaos Cup 2012 coach location breakdown.

18 from Illinois
18 from Michigan
14 from Canada
4 from Iowa
Everywhere else 1-3 from each

We know where the BB fanatics are living!

In case anyone wishes to start planning now...

Chaos Cup 2013 will be held at the same venue (Holiday Inn Express in Palatine, IL) next year.

The dates for next year's event are Sept 7-8, 2013.

For those wishing to hit two majors in one week, the Spike Tournament in Surrey, BC will be held the weekend after.
