On a serious note...I saw your auction for the Rotters too late, but didn't you sell yourself short? I thought those boys also received best painted for the 2006 Genuine Spike Tourney.

Sure yuk it up Chuckles! Smile

But I did take the Best Team award at the Deathbowl this year with my Killer Bee halflings! And that was going up against Ben and JTB who had amazingly painted teams. I like this new format of having the conversion and theme counting more for it, as it gives guys like me a chance! Very Happy

As for the rotters, yes, those were the ones that won the Best Painted award for the Spike! warm up last year (not that there was really any competition there!) I had put the starting bid at $30, luckily no-one bid one them, and so I have not sold them. I was thinking about selling them off individually, as that might be more lucrative for me.

... but you do have a way of hijacking threads don't you Rob? Wink

So who else is coming to the Canadian Open? Like I said, this tourney will be showcasing another new Spazzfist team! Woot woot! Love the tourney scene for inspiring me to paint!

Greetings all

VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE

The location has changed as the previous locationl has increased their price too much due to the fact that March is there busy season.

The new Location is located in an empty office where i will have plenty of chairs and tables set up.

The address is 21 Nelson St W, Unit 1B, Brampton, Ontario, L6X 1B6.

It's a great location in downtown Brampton with a bar next door and liquor store across the street so make sure you bring your coolers.

More information such as hotels etc to follow.

I have added the rules and location up on the website at www.pushpush.com.

Please be sure to check it out. In the rules section i have left a lot of room for creativity & Flexibility in the team creation so be sure to read through them carefully.

Please note that the register system does not work currently and that the location information is pretty basic. Hopefully i will be able to add more info this weekend.

Ben,

Just reading over the rules and i see that you are keeping the "Best Painted" as is? so that would mean that it is strictly on which team is painted the best and the team theme, conversions, etc. are not a consideration? Just curious.

I wanted to bring an important point that someone brought to my attention.

You will notice on the Draft Section that it states that you may only give 1 skill/stat increase to a player who already has a skill(s) and no more then 2 if that player had started with none.

So don't think you can pile all your skills on one player. You can only do that at the beginning ofthe tournament.

Reading over the tourny rules I relised that taking a big guy is almost pointless. Using Humans I could take an Orgre for 140K or have 2 player with 4 STR or 1 with 5 STR for 20K more without bone head and loner. Not a bad deal if I say so. Yes, I lose mighty blow, thick skull and throw team mate ( why is it still there??) but having a 6 or 7 MA player that will not bone head is worth it.

This is gonna be a very interesting tourny. Huzzah!!

No rules were changed (not on my part anyway) ...... the original bet was to shave the victums head bald & I would have continued this bet every tourney, but as the head shaving commemced "He not I changed & added to the bet right then & there"

You may have been there for the shaving , but you were not there for the initial bet. That took place at the 2005 CDN Open (but the person back then to get his head shaved backed out) so the bet was moved along to the first CoQ. To be carried out at the next tourney the person in first & the person in last attended. Had I known he was going to do to my head that he did I would have not even bought the clippers at all. If so then you can have a 0 FF for the tournament.

Um I remember just within the last few games of you playing me Talons....

You can hack on Spazz all you want about his being a wee widdle cry baby (& I wish I coulda been there to see it Razz

) but you may want to reflect on your own sucky babyish attitudes towards your poor set of games recently before you toss stones at glass houses!

Needless to say I have done down right horrible at tournies (1st Canadian Open I went 0 Wins, 1 Tie, 5 Loses 27th out of 28 & I didn't care, in fact I was all smiles it was a great tourney.

To anyone who is going to throw Hissy Fits because of how bad they are doing or cause the Dice Gods are screwing them over & cry or threaten to conceed or quit playing BloodBowl.... Then do yourselves & everyone else a favour & don't come! That kind of attitude really annoys the crap out of me & can really ruin a tourney (last years Canadian Open ring a bell?)

Well it looks like another Spazz might be thrown into the fray!

After a fifteen year retirement, my brother is talking about coming out to the Canadian Open. We talked in length last night about the game, the teams, etc. and what happens at the tourneys. I even told him a bunch of lies about what a great group of guys you are to encourage him to get his keister out there! Wink

He has to check with his Keeper to see if he is allowed to go both days to play, otherwise he will come out and watch on the Saturday. But he has downloaded the rulebook and the Canadian Open rules, so he is reading at a feverish pace!

We talked about what teams I could lend him, and I suggested to him that he play my halfling team, so that he is not so that, like Rod, he is not concerned about winning, and like Rob, he might be able to give Eric a run for his money, but still lose. Take that B!tches! Very Happy

And for the record, it does so happen that in grade school his nickname was "Spazz" less to do with naming himself after an orc blitzer and more about a broken pair of glasses and a wad of tape Laughing

Will hear from him today or tonight and find out what he is planning. If he does come out, then I will prepay for him - but lay dibs on the prize if he wins!

True, true, the tourny is being held in the heart of Brampton which has better sports teams, although not proffesional, than the "T-Dot"; Lacrosse [the best OLA/CLA team], Hockey [best OHA an WNHL teams] and baseball teams. Also, FYI `80s rocker Lee Aaron, Rapper Maestro Fresh Wes (ie 'let your back bone slide') and Comedian Scott Thompson are from Brampton. So, respect the "BPT" when y'all outsiders come to town.

Secondly, I would just like to say once again after all the trash talking is done and the smoke has clear from the many verbal shots taken by all, I once again put Clan-Skaven and GEEKFIST in there natural places in the Bloodbowl community.....Those places.....Bottomfeeders. Laughing

Maybe you guys can try again at the Qermitt but I have a feeling the Qermitt will bring the same results as this and every other tourney of late.

Yeah awesome job at the tourney Ben! It was a lot of fun and everything seemed to run smoothly from our perspectives. Now if we woucl only find a way to get Joe to finish his games quicker!

Hey Guys

Thanks to all for coming. I had a blast organizing and running the tournament.
I'm already thinking about the Canadian Open 2008.

I will post up the results soon for all to see.

As for you all who seem to point out that i was a few minutes late each day, you try having 8 people stay at your place and have it all organzied and everyone ready and showered in order to arrive on time. Because it was my house, i kind of need to be the last one to leave.

Damn you guys can be so merciless.

And in Ben's defence for being late, blame it on us. Next time (if he has us at his place again), we'll need to build a shower schedule with a 4 minute timer. More than 4 minutes, and you get dragged out of the shower. Crippled and injured people may get a bit more time. Wink

Yourself, Spazz & I all had the same record 2-2-2 & finnished 7th, 12th, & 15th respectivly... thus proving that the current scoring system does not work. I bet there were people with worse records than myself who finnished higher than me. In no way should bonus points take priority over record!

Bonus points IMO should be only used as tie breakers for teams with same records.

Thanks for everyone for making my trip back to TO (or Brampton as it was) worthwhile. Ben you ran a great tournament once again. Also thanks for letting me crash at your place on Friday and Saturday. Thanks to George for the rides and the place to crash on Sunday night.

It was great to see the usual suspects again. I'm thinking of running a tourney down here so you guys better get your sorry asses down for it.

To my opponents, Dave, Cam, Joe, Chris, Manuel and Bud, thanks for the great games. I couldn't have won without you Very Happy

(especially Joe, who witnessed the might of the Dwarven Agility game, those runners are great eh? and Bud, Cam, Dave, Chris and Manuel, who all had to sit through a beating at the hands of my team, thanks for taking it so well)

To sum it up it was good to see some old faces and meet some new ones. I won't be able to attend the Q'Ermitt, so it looks like it'll be the Deathbowl until I get to play some decent Blood Bowl again.

Just got back from the Dentist & it looks like my Wisdom tooth is fine, but the nerve in the molar two teeth away from it died & became an absess (puss buildup/infection). So now I'm on pain killers & antibiotics, & need to get a Root Cannal. And it looks like its gonna cost me $408.00 (thats after coverage discount) Crying or Very sad

Nasty sh*t Rod. I just had a root cannal myself this year. Its not as painful as all that cos they numb you up. good luck.

Didn`t do so well, but it has taught me a pretty good lesson. Holy crap I suck even more when I play drunk.
