Coaches have 1250GP to build their team (LRB6/CRP +3 non-GW rosters). This can be used to buy roster players, star-players (if two of the same star players play each other, they are a bit confused, but play on as normal) apothecary, and skills as per standard LRB6/CRP rules. No team may purchase more than 2 of any stat increase (ie MV, ST, AG, AV).

Halflings can hire a Master Chef for 50k GP. Goblins and Underworld can purchase bribes at a cost of 50kGP.

Each Team has a Captain and two Assistants:

The Captain has the "Leader" skill for free, and has to have at least one other skill purchased.

There is no limit to the number of skills the captain has.

The Assistants may have up to TWO skills.

The other players may have ONLY ONE skill.

Star Players cannot be Captains nor receive a skill during team creation.

Team Progression

The Captains get a further upgrade after each game. The TO will roll a single skill-roll for all Captains, the coaches may decide how the skill is allocated.
Scoring system &Game Pairing

This is a random match-up resurrection tournament, teams are reset after each round, no post game sequence is required.

Team Points:
2 points for win towards team
1 point for tie towards team
0 point for loss towards team

3 points for win
1 point for tie
0 point for loss

For tie breaks:

Baloney. The diversity rule Pete came up with last year was great and very theme-rich. People being unwilling to write up their rosters more than 10 minutes before the tourney started killed a great idea.

The weakest link on the west may not be able to make it. Planned to go on Vacation that weekend.

So sad I will miss this. But I am glad it has become the most anticipated tourney in Ontario/Quebec [and in some years NY].

Have fun boyz, and if the West wins, feel free to cheer that I was not there Very Happy

Wondering if I could get some clarification.
The posting here in the forum says

"Each Team has a Captain and two Assistants"

However on the link provided within the Tourney section. On the website it says.
"One Player may be designated the Alternate Captain and may purchase up to a maximum of two (2) upgrades."

Also on the website it has the following.

"After every game an improvement roll will be made by the T.O. The result can only be applied to the Captain."

Which is correct the website or the forum?
Daggers - Jul 08, 2012 - 05:47 PM
Post subject:
Yeah, I vbelieve the website is wrong. It has changed afew times, so it's likely just an oversight. The forum is correct. One captain, two assistant captains and the captain gets a new skill after each game.

+1

and only 2 stat (edited) increases for the whole team. <= this is what Pete said at the last tournament I saw him, but Pete works in mysterious ways Rolling Eyes

After each round, the TO rolls 2 D6:

2-9: reg skill
10: reg skill or M or Av
11: Reg skill or Ag
12: Reg skill or Fo

Doubles : other skills

"and only 2 characteristic increases for the whole team"

So this means that I can only acquire block twice while building the team? I thought I had read that somewhere but could not relocate it.

He means stat increases. So St, Ag, Av or Mv.
jrock56 - Jul 08, 2012 - 09:22 PM
Post subject:
Someone should clarify with Pete about this. If there are only 2 stat increases allowed that must be a recent development as I remember seeing the like of Rod's Orcs with all ST4 blitzers not long ago. It won't be a common thing because most players only have one or two within there team builds but there are exceptions. Everything else regarding team builds with the Captains and Asst Captains mentioned is correct from what I have seen.

As far as the East vs West goes, I think this year you may see a city split & a good chance it may be Niagara Falls boys who will have some players on each side since Niagara Falls is actually more east than Toronto.

& Pete Pete Pete, we have been through this over & over you knuckle head Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing , just stick with the random match up lists I'll provide you, It will work our best in the end with no glitches......

I'd prefer coaches of each to be ranked in a swiss style, so at least the winner (from the west) is not the guys that played ony the crappy east coaches... oh wait, that's all there is on the East, nevermind then Rolling Eyes

Well then I suggest you have a computer program that can do a swiss format for 2 groups of X teams in each, where not only teams are paired up by rank but also kept with in their own group.

I know, I'll see what I can find. Bring your stuff as a back up as well. Not that I don't appreciate this particular improvised flavor (no, I'm not talking about your ass...) of the lakeside cup, but I like it smooth (same comment as before).

Aye,
I will be there so long as my Pass Card arrives in time.
I have been wanting to do a couple Canadian tournaments. And on the way down to Zlurpee Delevus brought this one up. So when we got back I went down and put in to get a Pass Card. They said it will take 2-3weeks to get it so should have it in time so long as nothing goes wrong.

This should be fun. I was getting tired of only injuring ppl in the states. Its about time I take my talent for blood shed up to Canada. Where blood bowl players have socialized medicine to take care off all the injuries I plan on causing.

After testing, it appears that "score" can absolutely handle 2 groups of players (West and East) and swiss pair them without having them playing players from the same group !

I'll bring my laptop to make sure it runs smoothly.

Does Pete have wifi ? cause we'll need internet to get everybody's naf numbers. The tournament result can be uploaded right after the tournament, pending new NAF subscriptions (but I guess Dagger can take care of that during the tournament, right ?).

3) Random match-ups, not swiss

Hopefully that helps clear up some misunderstandings..

Actually even though Niagara boys will drive through Toronto we are actually more East (kinda messed I know, but unless there was a boat from Niagara to Coburgh that crosses Lake Ontario, we have to backtrack & drive around) So this could be the 1st year a Niagara resident(s) play on the East, also there could be a city divided on both sides!

BOOOOO!! Swiss would be a better format. Random could mean an easy 1st place finish for someone who plays weaker opponents and wins all six matchups. Swiss is also easier to organize with a program sorting out the between rounds results. Not to mention there is nothing random about pre-determined match-ups that are written down, just my 2 cents.

Hey Everyone
Its getting close to the tournament, and im busy with the preperations, thanks everyone for all the discussions, what i might do is make it a swiss tourney if the majority wants it. or Saturday games will be random and Sunday will be matched accordingly to wins and losses, if it will work..to clairify something the leader skill is given free to one player, but that player has to buy at least one other skill or stat increase. of coarse you know you are allowed to have two assistant captains that can have up to two skills or stat increases and all other players up to one skill only..don't forget you only have 1,250,000 GC to play with. for the bonus the team that has the most diverse teams gets bonus fanfactor, the number is determined by the amount of assorted teams on each side. GREAT! That was alot of writing..now i hope to post again within a day or two , gotta get back to work..see you all soon! pete

GREAT! That was alot of writing..now i hope to post again within a day or two , gotta get back to work..see you all soon! pete

Pete man stop the insanity, pick a set of rules at the beginning of the tourney & go with it , if next year you want to alter it fine. But your being so wishy-washy & trying to please everyone all the time about constantly changing things just b4 the tourney just confuses things & quite honestly frustrates everyone (well me anyways Surprised ) . It's yo ur tourney do it the way you want to.

The rules for skill selection is the same as last year, i was just rehashing it. as for the opponent you play ive always enjoyed random,,with the thought of having the last game or two playing each other who are best matched up. Sorry if it seems like im confusing you but im not trying too.

hum, i guess that's the wisest comment.

The two times I came it was 6v6, so the player pairing had no influence (everyone played everyone).

Then I thought the swiss was not implemented because of computer skill shortage (that are actually not hard to have, the most difficult part is to find where to download the NAF tournament manager).

but whatever, if having a vote is too complicated/insulting for Pete/frustrating for whoever, then I'm fine with whatever, sorry for the mess Embarassed

6v6? We're looking at 15v15 this year! Way to go out in style Laurent.

I do see an appeal to the random. Some of us will be likely to play opponents we would not otherwise get to play Razz

Ok I'm confused again, same as last year? So unlimited (MA,ST,AG,AV ) gains per team or still only a max of 2 of each per team?

Ok, to clarify something. Pete, although you say the stat cap was in effect in previous years, it was never posted in the rules or on the website (I had an old russet and checked), and was never enforced (rods +st blitzes should have been illegal if the rule was in place). So can we stop saying same as years before, because it really wasn't and people are getting confused.

It is in effect now, so build your teams accordingly.

Hello all,

Last minute registrant here. Very excited to head back to Cobourg for a great weekend tournament. Last time I was at the Lakeside Eric was signing Spazz's christmas covered balls in the garage, yeah shit got weird. Anyways, all that aside, is anyone heading to Cobourg by ways of Waterloo (or Kitchener/Cambridge)? We are a one car family and the lady isnt keen on the idea of me taking it for the weekend for it to sit on Pete's street for three days.

I'm not looking for door to door service or to mess up anyone's route. I could meet up at a car pool drop off on the 401 or some other easy pick up stop.

Looking forward to the weekend.

I wouldn't say that yet Rod. With the numbers as is, we will have 5 guys switching to East. Even with the few that may show up that haven't signed up, we will still need more than 1 or 2 likely. So who knows, maybe you can join the winning team this year.

The food this year was more delicious than I had remembered, compliments to both cooks! Although I missed the good old

To my opponents; thank you for putting up with my frequent mess-ups and roster confusions. All 6 of my matches had some
mind melting moments and even my war dancer and catcher didn't make any win an easy one. Good games all round.

All the best.

Thanks Pete & Tammy, as always Great times & great food, hospitality !

Looks like the WEST is Best, good things come to those that wait, & I have waited long enough to the east's bragging rants. (mind you this year i just missed playing for the East "Phew" Laughing )

Game 1:lost 3-1 (casualties lost 4-2)

Vs Leathan & his Wood Elves , my Orcs lost 3-1 & was out casualtied 4-2. Great game just strange when Orcs are beaten up by Wood Elves.

Game 2: won 3-0 (casualties won 3-0)

Vs Stephanie & her Amazons, the 1st half looked like a ballroom dance with all the "PUSH" results, but the 2nd half her luck dropeed &mine went up. A great opponent & a fun game.

Game 3: Lost 2-1 (casualties won 1-0)

Vs Colin & his Rats , very good game & I stalled for the 1-1 tie, but on turn 16 I gave him everything he needed to win, grrrr good game bud lol

Game 4: Won 3-0 (casualties won 4-1)

Vs Pete & a Human team that belonged to someone ...(not sure I understand Confused )
My Orcs seemed to be on a mission to dominate this game from start to end.

Game 5: Won 2-1 (casualties won 3-1)

Vs Mark H & his Slann, what a great game back & forth the ball changed hands many times , but by turn 13 or 14 my Orcs finally decided to start killing frogs & Mark's fate was set.

Game 6: Won 2-1 (casualties tied 1-1)

Vs Ryan & his Undead

Another ballroom dance game , but a great opponent & although at times a very dull game, it was still fun.

From memory....

- The West won the tournament
- Matt (delevus) was the MVP for best individual record (I know Glen won second or third place but I can't remember who won the other podium finish)
- Laurent won most touchdowns. Hourah pour l'Admiral de l'Ouest!
- Alex (Stimme) won most casualties
- Greg Shelton won the "Gentleman" award
- Tom (DarkOrk20) earned the "Jackass" award
- Glen won the Da Vinci award (best painted/modeled team)
- Grant received the Paper Bag award for least casualties (zero!)
- Pat LaForge received the Broken Fence award for worst defense (I forget if that is most touchdowns against or worst touchdown differential)
- Pat LaForge received the Wheelbarrow award for worst win/loss record
- Stephanie received the slow poke award for least touchdowns scored
- I believe Sol won the best defense award
- I remember that Dave and Colin R. received awards but can't remember which ones but I'm certain one of the awards was the Glass Jaw (worst casualty differential) and I think the other award was the award for best casualty differential.

That's what my memory can provide... I'm sure Rod will correct anything I got wrong/incomplete.

Hey Pete!

I think I left my blue water bottle in your garage. Its got an orange stick on the side. If you could hold on to it, I might be heading out east in August and could jump off the 401 to pick it up.

Thanks for having us Pete was a great time. And enjoyed seeing everyone and meeting some new folks.
Had some good games even though I appeared to forget how to cause any injuries this weekend. Not sure what the hell was going on. Only thing I can point to was those damn D6 I swear they were broken.

Hope to see everyone at upcoming events.

Exactly. The tiebreaker was the sum of your opponents' scores.

I'm shocked.

I also heard that I got the same amount of votes for the "gentleman award" also but couldn't win both as they like to spread it around. I also heard that the same people that voted gave me both. Rolling Eyes

Their Canadians, what did you expect.

No need to be nasty Sol, you were thinking Slann.

You could have been the first person to win both trophies in the same tournament Tom. That would have cemented your status in Canadian lore for years to come....It would have been a great honour.

I'm going to post this in a few threads; please forgive any duplication. I just noticed this past weekend at Lakeside that I'm missing my "Sweltering Heat" token from my set of Q'ermitt 2012 weather tokens. It has the grooves filled in with yellow crayon wax. I realize that it's a long shot but if anyone somehow wound up with it please let me know. Thanks!

Great pics, Alex. This is a very family-friendly collection that nicely white-washes the shameful debauchery of Friday night.
