North America - DEATHBOWL XI: The Year of the Chaos Dwarf

jrock56 - May 27, 2013 - 03:04 PM
Post subject: DEATHBOWL XI: The Year of the Chaos Dwarf
Deathbowl XI is just around the corner and all those Chaos Dwarf teams are deep into preparation for the carnage that will occur on the pitch!!

We will be hosting the event on October 19-20th with 4 games of Deathbowl to be played in those 2 days!! For a full copy of the rules check out our website attached to my SIG. We will be updating for the Year of theme shortly with all included benefits for the Chaos Dwarf teams.

The rules will essentially remain the same this year 1 250 000 Team Rating for builds, all NAF approved teams available including 3 unofficial races. Coaches can buy improvements for their players at the costs indicated in the CRP rulebook. You may purchase up to a maximum of 3 additional skills per player on your roster, this includes a +2 to any stat, no stat may go above 10, and no player may have more than 3 improvements in total. No additional skills will be gained during the tournament.

Remember no kickoffs and no referees during the matches, If you have one of our new Deathbowl fields from last year feel free to bring it in case but we should have enough to accommodate everyone regardless.

*The venue will remain the same @ The Montgomery Legion* but we had to change the date to confirm the booking with them.

See you all over the summer hopefully!! Very Happy

(Oh and can someone with the power's that be please Sticky this thread, thanks!)

HAHA! Only in Deathbowl is Racial profiling and prejudice acceptable!! and the difference being that the dominant race changes from year to year Wink

Just to give everyone a quick update, we had to change the date of the Tourney to Oct 19-20th which was our usual week of holding the event. Was the only weekend that the venue had available and we will be remaining at the Montgomery Legion again this year. Had to sort out the details as our usual contact retired this year!

More info to follow shortly!

Hello everyone...sorry for the delay in getting any updates! A little thing called Wedding planning has gotten in the way this summer. That being said we have finally come to a conclusion on the options for the Chaos Dwarves for this year......drumroll.....

Option 1: ALL Hobgoblins on the team will inherit the `Dirty Player`skill at no cost

Option 2: Minotaurs will gain Pro & Juggernaut skills to represent a higher quality and more controlled (team oriented) Minotaur than the usual beasts

Option 3: 2 Chaos Dwarves will inherit mutations of their coaches choosing to show the prevailing Chaotic tendencies of these twisted races!

A few more surprises will be sure to rear there ugly heads throughout the tournament! Stoked to see everyone for this event! If anyone that plans on attending could confirm with me in advance, I will update the list of attendees in the 1st post on this thread (If you also know your race & team name send me a PM so I can prep for the registration and speed up the start of the tourney Saturday morning) Thank you all in advance!

Chaos Dwarves get mutations at a cost of 20k or free?
Notorious_jtb - Aug 12, 2013 - 12:52 AM

I think it is two free rod. I would suggest option 3 should be a random pair of mutations as it is the best option by a long way.

Or just make mutations for them cost 20k instead of normal 30k

If they were random it would be crappy, "Ooooh great I got Very Long Legs again on my 3rd Chaos Dwarf!"

Maybe not random then but saytwo free from foul appearance, disturbing presence, and maybe one more.

As a sidenote, was brought to my attention whether the free upgrades for the Chaos Dwarves would count against the max 3 skills per player and they will be the one exception throughout the tournament that are allowed more than the 3 skill max per player due to the free added benefits they have initially. It does not however mean they may pay for more than 3 additional skills after the bonuses previously mentioned.

Hope this helps!

Good to know jrock.

So just to be clear in my mind , sleep training baby so slow brain

Maximum skill purchase per player is 3.
Bonus skills can be added on top cos they are bonuses:-)

Question...passing to an opponent is forbidden.

Is that passing directly to one of their players is forbidden, or lobbing both balls directly into their quarter of the pitch so that the other two opponents have to chase it down through them is forbidden? (if you aim for an empty square) Evil or Very Mad

If you aim for an empty square you can pass the ball wherever your heart desires...you just cannot pass directly to a player from any opposing team. We try to discourage alliances in Deathbowl whenever possible as it is not a healthy option in this sport! Shocked

doubt I'll be able to make it this year, but you should clarify about the skills for mino / hobgobs too.

So would a mino would only be allowed one extra skill? And hobgobs 2 extra if you chose those options?

Thought this was already clear but will clarify further. None of the bonus skills for the Minotaur, Hobgoblins, or Chaos Dwarves count against the max of 3 skills per player so each of them may still take an additional 3 skills if you choose to build your roster that way.

Too bad Tristan, hope to see you at a tourney sometime soon brotha. Let me know if things change for you

Just to give everyone a head's up, the link in my signature to go to the Deathbowl website is currently not up to date. Seeing as Eric has been absent the Bloodbowl scene for the better part of the last year I have been unable to update the website with the current info. If you do happen to go onto the website and checkout the Ruleset from last year, the base rules are identical with the exceptions being the "Year of theme" which the changes have been discussed on this thread and on our Deathbowl Facebook Group/Event. If you do not have access to the Deathbowl group on Facebook feel free to send me a PM with your email address and I will forward the current copy of the ruleset to you asap.

In addition to this, anyone that is attending that knows what Race they will be bringing and has there team name please PM me both so I can pre-fill in all the registration information ahead of time. It will allow for a much smoother registration the morning of the tourney and allow us to begin on time @ 9am.

Thanks to everyone in advance, see you all soon!! Very Happy

Big Thank you to natsirtm for reminding me about the NAF Canada Website that was started up!! All of the info for Deathbowl has been transferred to the website and the link in my signature will now lead you directly there. Also if you go under the tourney's section above the link to the website will now steer everyone in the proper direction as well!!

While there is still info on NAF Forums and Facebook Deathbowl Group as well, this will help centralize all the tournament info to one location and allow us to control things more regularly and update more frequently. Very Happy Much appreciated the help with this. Any questions let me know everyone,

I haven't played in a couple years, but wasn't there at one time a scaling increase to the cost of skills based on how many skills the player had already purchased? Is that gone now or am I just missing it?

There was at one time prior to us moving the line of scrimmage. It was put in place to help teams with certain deficiencies ie. Dwarves slow MA to level the playing field with Speed teams. The line of scrimmage change has rectified all of that so there is no need to have that in place anymore....that was 3-4 years ago though...has it been that long since you made it to Deathbowl Bjorn? Oh yeah it was only your brother that made it up more recently I believe.

Are you guys going to be able to make it this year? Would be awesome to have you!

This was my first Deathbowl experience ever, and I really enjoyed it. It was very different from what I expected, but great fun: Whatever happened on the pitch either caused three people cheering, or three people comforting each other. A very positive touch to Bloodbowl!

Thanks to the Jones brothers for the smooth organization. Too bad so many people had to cancel last minute or did not show up without notice. But like this I had the unique experience to witness Glenn finishing his turns in lightning speed!

Thanks to Daggers for hosting us, and congratulations to the winner! I will definitely try and make the trip again next year.

A Big thank you to all of those that came out for Deathbowl XI this past weekend! I had a great time playing Vampire's for the first time in a tournament and enjoyed all my matchups throughout. Was definitely a new challenge to play in and run a tournament at the same time, thank you all for being patient between matchups while I sorted out the numbers (although most rounds had at least 1 table running a bit late which gave me a chance to input things and catch up Smile Was pretty hilarious that I caused almost as many Casualties on my own players throughout the tourney as the player with the most Casualties caused on others!! Hope you all has as good a time as we did taking part. Below are the overall results in the standings as well as those that took home awards for their efforts Smile

1- Nick Harding Elven Miserable Now Wood Elf (Champion)
2- Alex Weiss Twirling Twilight Twisters Skaven (2nd Place)
3- Joe Byers Phoenix Style Wood Elf (3rd Place, Most TD's)
4- Glenn Jones Northside Kings Norse (Best Defence allowing 0 TD's all Tourney)
5- Dan Chaput Multiple Scorgasms Skaven (Rising Star)
6- Manuel Leclerc Chikago Bulls Chaos Dwarf
7- Joe Pym White Shields High Elf
8- Adam Jones Bite Me Vampire (Most Sporting)
9- Patrick Gilbert High Flyers Elf
10- Mark D'Agostino Fairytale Fuckers Chaos Dwarf (Most Casualties)
11- Mark Hickling Mark's Chaos Dwarves Chaos Dwarf (Golden Ass ...AKA Jackass award!!!)
12- Kohl Hedley Neardead Nightcrawlers Necromantic
13- Gord Macdougal Kraken Dark Elf
14- Peter Meers The Hat Rocks Chaos Dwarf
15- Chris Viau Bombshells Human
16- Ryan Mackenzie The Dice Lice Underworld (Best Team, Last place...otherwise known as the Bi*ch Stick at Deathbowl!!)

After all was said and done there was only one last announcement to make....what would next year's 'Year of' theme be.....drumroll....Deathbowl XII will be the Year of the Amazon!! Plenty of updates to follow throughout the year Twisted Evil

Hey,

Thanks so much for all the hard work guys, it was a blast. Trophies were awesome.

To think we were playing for >12 hours on the Saturday was crazy- but had 4 really good games. Highlights include treeman dying on a 1/2 dice block by a skaven blitzer, a ludicrous elf TD involving a pick up, pass, hand off, leap to chainpush a catcher into range and some 4+ dodges, and hiding behind some norse to get a fist TD vs Chaos Dwarfs.

cheers
