Europe - BB XLIII Commemorative Tee Shirt - for NAF only - good idea?

Old_Man_Monkey - Feb 16, 2004 - 04:32 AM
Post subject: BB XLIII Commemorative Tee Shirt - for NAF only - good idea?
There has been informal discussion among the staff whether creating a commemorative Tee shirt for this year's BB and offering to all members -attending or not - would be a good idea.

The cost of the shirt would be simply production costs plus shipping - this would not necessarily be a fund raiser - just a way to quickly identify and meet fellow NAF players at the BB and beyond...

The hope would be to take preorders and have them shipped to arrive at least two weeks before the tourney. The biggest challenge will be coming up with the artwork but I for one believe there are plenty of talented artists/graphic designers in the membership so that this would not be a problem.

I'd be interested if it's different from the Cafepress design, as i already got one of those.

As a side remark to my fellow Europeans: with the current US$ rate (and maybe a price change i did not recognize) the Cafepress offer (click Store on the top of the page) went from expensive to OK. I got one of the Baseball Jerseys incl. shipping for around 20 Euros and no import tax is charged to that value.

It will definitely be different than the items in Cafe Press - personally, I like an Orc holding the NAF shield - similar to the TKC logo...! Smile Wink

I got the "old" hooded sweatshirt which is more than o.k. fo rthat price. A t-shirt on the other hand... Confused

anyway, I would be interested in a special NAF shirt as well....

If we were to get a list of definite people by a certain date might it be possible to get the printed with our nicknames on?

much more expensive, but certainly possible...

nicknames'd be cool btw

Rather than using the existing suppliers, it may be cheaper for DW to place the order in the UK. Then there isn't the cost of transatlantic shipping.

I'd be quite happy to take the shirts up to Nottingham if required.

Post subject:
I would be interested as well.

- Nickname on the shirt...not necessay IMHO, but I'll go by majority vote

- color of shirt: would be nice to have 2-4 different colors to choose from...shouldn't be difficult/much mor expensive if enough people participate.

- Orc holding shield: no....how about a dwarf? Wink

About shipping....how many people from the US will go? I think one can take a box with sirts over there...you are allowed to pieces of luggage: one personal, one with NAF shirts......but it depends on the manufacturing cost....if the cost is the same between US and UK, I'd go with UK.

On the other hand....I might have a good contact to print shirts here in the US. Let me find out what he can offer.....how many colors should I ask for to be on the logo? (3-4 would be my guess)

If you want a good t-shirt supplier in the UK, just PM me and I'll get the website of the one I was going to use to do the NBA shirt. Off the top of my head I think it worked out about £11-12 for a t-shirt with3 colours on the front, and one on the back.

Oh, and I'm interested btw Wink

Yep, i ´m interested, too. I just printed my own Team tshirt for the Dutch Open ( BTW... a homemade orc head Wink ), but still another BB tshirt would be nice.

If someone designs one and there is no time for the nickname to print before BB 04, maybe good idea to consider to leave enough space, so everybody, who likes it, can print the nickname later ?!

Just please remember to order different sizes of the Tshirt ... at last XL for me ! Wink

While the NAF officers were together (for the first time!) face to face, we had a short meeting - one of the things we discussed was this Tee for the upcoming BB...

Anthony is going to work on artwork when he returns - because of time (mostly), it will not displayed for discussion beforehand - the design artwork will be posted and orders taken for pickup on site at the tournament. The number ordered will depend upon the interest and preorders that come about.

There's been no decision about which company to use - it seems everyone knows a screenprinter - so they may be produced in the UK, US or CA - wherever we can get the best value of price and quality.

The idea, as stated earlier, is to produce an attractive commemorative Tee for members to buy at cost and wear at the tournament. The only design discussion centered upon a NAF logo on back with room to put a name across the shoulders... Anthony is coming up with artwork for the front.

Any comments or questions, please post - it should be great!

Don't worry Trav - won't get sold sight unseen, but there won't be a lot of discussion about the design because of time concerns - either you'll like it or you won't... My bets on Anthony to come up with a purely kickass design!!!

What's the NAF ? People who have fun together. All of us play different races.

Why not a cartoon with a dwarf, an elf, an orc, a zombie, whatever holding hands and making friends. And on the back, the same guys fighting each other for a ball ?

Although if it's only 1 pic on the bak this might be difficult...

Or a 3 squares cartoon : the guys hugging, the guys fighting, the guys injured with bandages drinking beers together ?
